Edward was just about to sign the divorce papers when his secretary Jonathan rushed in. "Mr. President!"
"What is it?" Edward barely controlled his emotions, putting down his pen.
Jonathan spoke nervously, "Mr. President, about the First Lady... the reports..."
"Handle it however you see fit. Don't come to me with it!" Edward snapped.
"No, Mr. President, I mean... the reports about the First Lady... they've all vanished!"
Edward frowned. "What do you mean?"
"It seems the Belvarian royal family used their connections. The journalists who published the stories have all publicly apologized, and the royal family issued a statement calling the First Lady 'The Honorable Miss.' They're trying to... blur her identity."
Blur her identity? So she can conveniently be with Robert? Edward gripped his pen so tightly his knuckles turned white. "Where is she now?"
Jonathan hesitated. "Mr. President, she's probably gone to Belvaria. We've... lost track of her."
Lucy, who had been quietly listening, jumped in. "Edward, don't be so upset. This was Natalie's choice." As she spoke, she reached to hold his arm, but he pushed her away.
Edward slammed his pen onto the desk.
The divorce papers were still open. He closed them and locked them in the drawer.
"Edward, do you really want someone like Natalie, a woman with no shame?" Lucy questioned in disbelief, watching him.
"Watch your words," Edward said coldly, raising his chin. "Until we're divorced, she's still the First Lady." He gestured toward the door. "You should leave now."
"Edward!" Lucy stamped her foot angrily.
The Secret Service blocked her. "Miss Lucy, please leave."
Reluctantly, Lucy was escorted out of the Presidential Residence. But she soon brightened up. She didn't believe Natalie could just leave, and Edward wouldn't divorce her. It seemed that last night's move had worked.
Last night, Edward had gotten drunk and stayed at his mother Susan's house. With Susan's help, Lucy sneaked into Edward's room while he was asleep and took a photo of herself in bed with him, sending it to Natalie.
When Natalie showed up to catch them in the act, Lucy deliberately acted as though she and Edward had just been intimate. But in reality, Edward was still asleep, unaware of anything.
In Lucy's mind, it was only a matter of time before she had Edward.
Natalie, you're just my defeated opponent. Edward will be mine!
Inside Edward’s bedroom.
Jonathan knocked gently on the door, and only after Edward’s approval did he step inside.
Edward stood tall and silent by the window, his imposing back turned to Jonathan.
The tension in the room was palpable, and Jonathan could sense Edward’s simmering anger. Cautiously, he said, “Mr. President, your visit to Belvaria is scheduled for next week. Perhaps you might run into the First Lady there...”
Edward let out a cold laugh. “Even if she were standing right in front of me, I wouldn’t spare her a glance!”
As he slipped one hand into his pocket, he was surprised to find a diamond ring inside—Natalie’s wedding ring, the very one she had thrown at his face the previous night. For reasons he couldn’t quite explain, Edward had picked it up.
Now, holding the ring, Edward felt nothing but disdain.
With a sharp flick of his wrist, he hurled the ring out the window, his frustration spilling over.
A week later.
In Belvaria, at a high-end café.
"My God, Natalie, it really is you!" Kate Smith hugged Natalie tightly. "I can't believe it! I'm not dreaming, am I?"
Natalie hugged her back. "It's real. I'm going to live in Belvaria from now on!"
"Your jewelry, after conquering the elite of Arlandia, has now done the same in Belvaria. People are lining up for your designs—appointments are already booked for next year!" Kate said excitedly.
Natalie's other identity was a world-renowned jewelry designer, Lilith. Of course, Kate was the only one who knew this secret.
"By the way, when do the King and Queen plan to acknowledge your identity?"
Natalie took a sip of her hot milk. "My parents are planning to introduce me to the public on National Day in three months."
"That's amazing! My Princess!" Kate said with genuine happiness for her friend.
Just then, there was a commotion from the street. Natalie turned to see crowds gathering and people waving flowers and banners, excited smiles on their faces.
"What's going on?" Kate asked a waitress.
"You didn't hear? President Edward Callen is visiting our country for two weeks! He's out there with our Prime Minister right now, meeting the public!" the waitress said, growing more excited. "Even though our countries have a long history of conflict, President Callen is so handsome, I could put all the past aside just to look at his face!"
Kate, who had been busy with work and hadn't been keeping up with the news, was surprised. "Natalie, do you think Edward's coming here for you?"
Natalie chuckled bitterly. "You give me too much credit. Edward doesn't care about me. It's probably just a regular diplomatic visit." Over the past week, Natalie had been focused on spending time with her family, blocking out the outside world. She hadn't even known Edward was coming to Belvaria. Her parents and brother probably didn't want to bring up any painful memories, so they kept it from her.
Just then, the noise outside grew louder. To Natalie's shock, the crowd parted as the presidential motorcade drove towards her!
Panicking, Natalie realized the café was open-air with no cover. If she stayed, Edward would definitely see her. She didn't want to face him now!
She quickly stood up. "Kate, we need to go!"
But it was too late. The crowd was so thick, the streets were completely blocked. Natalie couldn't get away in time. And Edward's shiny presidential car was already coming down the street.
Inside the car, Edward was dressed in a sharp black suit, his features even more striking in the sunlight. He waved to the crowd, exuding grace and charm.
With so many people around, Edward might not have noticed her at first. But just then, a waitress standing next to Natalie suddenly shouted, "I love you, Mr. President!"
Edward turned his gaze toward them.
Natalie froze, realizing it was too late to hide. She looked up in a panic—
