Chapter 1: Intro to my Life
Hello, my name is Alia and I am here to catch you up on my story. What to start off with? Oh, yes. I am from a poor background with even poorer parents. My mother left my father and me when I was still an infant, leading to my father’s awful drinking habits. He always blamed me for Mother leaving us, even if he never said it when in his right mind. From the day I could process and think properly I have been his personal slave and punching bag. Right now at the age of 17, I labor tirelessly at two jobs while still juggling school. It is up to me to pay all the bills of our house, but my “father” makes it nearly impossible to pay just one bill as he is always stealing the money I save up to spend on his beers. Luckily for me, school is not horrible since I have understanding and caring friends that surround me. No, I am not popular or anything but I have three really good friends that have been by my side since junior high.
My best friend, Elena, I met at a low point in my life when I was dealing with betrayal from my previous long term best friend. She picked me back up off the ground and gave me something to live for, supporting me for what now seems like centuries. To this day I am forever grateful for Elena as she saved my life. She caught me trying to commit suicide and convinced me I was worth more than what I thought I was. Eventually, I opened up and told her about my so-called father, and how cruel life has been to me. From that day onward we were inseparable and glued at the hip, where she went I went and vice versa. My second best friend is a boy. His name is Dylan and he is, unfortunately for all the ladies out there, gay. I was the first to know of him being gay and was even there for him when he opened up to his parents about it. Sadly, his parents could not understand him and practically disowned him, since then he has not had a good relationship with his parents considering they practically ignore each other. Although he may not have his parents behind him, he will always have me as he is like the brother I always wish I had. Dylan also knows about my “father”, and the first time I told him about it he wanted to go beat him up but I stopped him saying that I would get worse the next day. He pleaded with me to go to the police, but I told him no as my father is all I have left, as stupid as that may sound. My third friend is a good friend but not a best friend, her name is Sapphire aka Saph. I met her in 8th grade when she first came to this school. At first, I thought she would be my best friend, but then she got in with the group I despised most. After some time, she was betrayed by them and came back to us, this was back in 9th grade. It took a little while to get started again but eventually we got going and became really good friends. Now that I have fully introduced you to myself I think it is time to learn the rest of my story. Let’s see where this goes shall we!

Trudging through the hallway, I keep wondering to myself why it has to be a Monday again. Only two weeks remain till finals, and then it is Christmas. The time has been passing by so slowly and I can’t wait to get out of this miserable place. Unfortunately though, going and staying home isn’t much better for me. This year though I think that I might stay at a friend's house so as to escape my “father”. All of this flies through my head as I slink my way through the seemingly endless hallway. Suddenly, I am shaken from my thoughts as I ram hard against a wall which launches me back into the ground with books raining down on the floor around me! “Watch where you are going, freak!” I hear behind me as laughter fills the air. More comments start to erupt from around me. “She is such a freak.” “Ugh why is she even here? “Such a clumsy little thing.” Getting mad and frustrated at the students around me I yell “ Why don’t you shut up and mind your business!” Huffing I initiate the process of gathering my stuff from the floor and standing up. While I do this, I hear feet shuffling away from me which then makes me wonder where I had gotten that courage from. Not that I don’t normally stand up for myself, but it is just that normally I am not that aggressive in my actions. Standing up and shifting the books in my hands I head towards my classroom, this time watching carefully where I am going. Lucky me, I reach my classroom just as the bell cuts through teenagers chatting around me.
Slipping into my usual chair next to Elena ( I have most of my classes with her ), I begin on the bellwork. Throughout the entire class I cannot concentrate due to how tired I am and the thought of having to go to my work after this class. The class bores on and on for an hour and a half with the drones of the teacher and students whispers filling my ears. Finally, the bell rings ,and Elena and I rush to meet our friends before I have to go. At our locker Elena mentions “Girl I can’t believe you work two whole jobs and still manage to get A’s in school!” “ I know right, she is like superwoman!” my DC obsessed friend, Saph, exclaims. “Don't tease the poor kitten too much ladies.” my guy friend, Dylan, says as he sidles up next to me. “Ugh! You are no fun at all Dylan!” pouts Saph. I just laugh at them and say, “Guys as much fun as it would be to hear all of you bicker all day, I got a job to get to. That is if I want to keep it.” “Fine Alia. You go on ahead and leave us poor souls behind.” complains Elena with a smile on her face, which turns serious as she tells me, “ And just so you know, if you are ever too tired to continue, call us. You know we will be there for you, always and forever.” “Yes, yes. I know. Plus you know I love you guys too much to leave you just yet.” I say with a smile hinting to her that I was doing fine and didn’t have any suicidal thoughts. With that I leave the school in a hurry.
At the restaurant, I efficiently slide into my waitress uniform and scurry out to commence serving the tables. Two hours go by and I am exhausted by this point in time. I haven't been off my feet since I started. “Only 30 more minutes.” I mumble to myself, knowing full well that is a lie since I have both homework and a full other job after this one. Slowly, I make my way towards the next table I am to serve. Etching a smile onto my face and standing up straight as I reach the table I say, “What can I get you started with sir.”
**I am so excited this is my first story and I can’t wait to share more with you guys. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it!**
