To say that her life was over would be a major exaggeration on her part. It just seemed that it was in her current situation. Avery shifted in the uncomfortable airplane seat, the music in her noise cancelling headphones loud enough that the little girl next to her could probably hear it, though she didn't look to see if anyone was giving her a strange look for it. She was occupied with glaring out the window at nothing in particular. So many emotions swirled around inside of her, it would drive a normal person insane. As she saw the plane descending, she hesitantly removed her headphones. For once it was quiet on the plane, but that could have been because it was almost midnight. Her aching, stiff limbs protested as she walked into the terminal and grabbed her bags. Now to find her uncle. Though, that shouldn't be too hard of a task, she only had to look for the man who looked similar to her dad. The thought caused her chest to tighten. "Avery!" Her head whipped around so that she could locate the voice. A hand shot up and waved. This hand indeed belonged to her uncle. He looked a lot like her father, only Charlie was six years younger. "Hey kiddo. How are you doing?" She nodded and looked up at him. "I'm getting better. It's still hard." It wasn't a lie. There were some days where she felt as though she couldn't even move, let alone get out of bed. Charlie awkwardly pulled her into a hug, but Avery was just too drained to even return it. "Everything happens for a reason. He's watching out for you." She could feel the tears stinging at the back of her eyes. At least having Charlie around was like her dad was still with her. The two were so alike, it was comforting. "I know.." was all she managed to get out. Charlie let her go and took her bags, leading her to his cruiser. He had her get in while he placed her bags in the trunk. As soon as he pulled out, he glanced over at her. "I enrolled you in school earlier today, but I told them that it might be a few days before you actually come. I wanted you to have time to...adjust. You just go back when you're comfortable." She looked over at him, nodding slowly even though he had looked back at the road. "I'm fine, Uncle Charlie. Well, fine enough to go to school, but I will take tomorrow off to unpack and organise." Charlie had to admire his niece. She was strong. The ride to the house was silent, occasionally broken when Avery asked a question about Forks. "This will be your room. Bella's is right across the hall and mine is at the end. Bathroom is right next door." Charlie explained as he dropped off her stuff. The room was overly white. Everything was white except for the sheets, which were a pale pink. She didn't mind the white though. She would just have to add color with her decorations. "Thank you." Charlie turned to leave, but stopped when Avery called out to him. "Do you think you could take me car shopping tomorrow? I have enough from what dad left, I figured I should get myself a ride." "I have work tomorrow, but I'm sure Bella would take you, she gets out early tomorrow." Charlie explained. "I'll ask her in the morning." Avery nodded slowly. "Alright." She offered a strained smile as she watched Charlie head to his room. Closing the door quietly, she could hear Charlie's footsteps fade. She pushed her bags to a corner of her room and flopped onto the bed. She didn't bother even trying to dig out her pajamas. She just let the rain lull her to sleep slowly.
