Chapter 8

That night. I was sleeping in a daze when I suddenly felt something sticky moving across my body. “Tickles,” I mumbled. But whoever it was still wouldn't stop, gently stroking and rubbing... I couldn't take it anymore and opened my eyes. “Adrian?” This had to be a dream. Otherwise, how could he possibly be here? He froze. Then immediately turned around to run. I grabbed him and grinned triumphantly. “Where do you think you're going?” At my words, he rested his chin against my shoulder, his voice thick with emotion. “Wh-why did you stop wanting me?” Warm liquid slowly dampened my back. I'd never seen him like this before. He had always been cold and distant, as though nothing in the world could ever catch his attention. But now... A powerful urge to tease him suddenly surged through me. Besides, this was a dream. If I was dreaming, why couldn't I do whatever I wanted? “You're the one who wouldn't let me touch you!” I pounced on him, flipped him over, and straddled him. “Since this is a dream, I'm not holding back.” I undid his buttons and began teasing him relentlessly. He gasped, but he didn't push me away. Instead, his entire body trembled. Countless tentacles emerged all at once, wrapping around me like a tidal wave. And so I was pulled into one absurd whirlpool after another. Amid the dizzying haze, he reverently kissed my earlobe again and again. “Master... don't abandon me... please...” …… The next morning. My entire body felt exhausted. The moment I opened my eyes, I found myself staring into a pair of teary fox eyes. Lucian sat beside the bed. His clothes hung loosely from his body, revealing ambiguous red marks underneath. “W-what happened to you?” It couldn't possibly be what I was thinking... “You're asking me?” He sniffled and bit his lip. “Last night, I was just kindly helping you with your blanket, and then you... you wouldn't let go of me...” The more he spoke, the more aggrieved he became. His tail curled tightly around himself. “I-I couldn't fight you off, so I could only go along with it.” My brain went completely blank. So last night hadn't been a dream? But I'd clearly seen Adrian! How had I ended up with Lucian...? Yet the evidence was right in front of me. I had nothing to say. Especially since international law stipulated that once someone became intimate with a companion species, they were required to enter into a “spiritual bond.” Otherwise, it would be considered the crime of abandoning one's partner after taking advantage of them. The person would be branded with a moral stain, which could seriously affect their everyday life. I rubbed my aching temples and gritted my teeth. “Don't worry. I'll take responsibility for you. We'll form the bond.” Lucian's pale golden eyes curved slightly. “I'll do whatever Master says.” Since we were going to form a bond, I couldn't afford to have divided loyalties anymore. Besides, the regulations governing companion creatures after bonding were extremely strict. I sighed and opened my phone to contact customer service. “Sorry. I want to officially process a return.” ...... Meanwhile, in the back office of the store. Adrian was hiding in a corner, utterly miserable. The shop owner walked over and gave him a sympathetic look. “I have one piece of good news and one piece of bad news. Which do you want first?” Adrian raised his head. A glimmer of hope appeared in his eyes. “The good news.” The shop owner smiled. “You know how she originally wanted to return you?” “She was actually just worried that you and Lucian would get into a fight, so she temporarily had you boarded here.” Adrian's eyes instantly lit up. The corners of his mouth rose uncontrollably. I knew it... But then the shop owner's tone changed. “She just sent another message saying she's going to form a bond with Lucian.” “So this time, you're officially being returned.” The smile on his face froze. The next moment, countless thick tentacles exploded outward. He charged out of the shop like a madman, heading straight home. The shop owner looked at the wreckage scattered across the floor and sighed helplessly. “Young people. They really do have terrible tempers!” Of course, I knew nothing about any of this.
