Alpha Rick's point of view

As Tess went back into the water I started barking out orders and mind linking my men. Apart of me was shocked and not shocked about learning what Layla had done. Yes, I knew she was not loyal to Ben but I never suspected she would do this to her pack.

The first time I told Ben about Layla cheating on him he yelled at me and told me to mind my own business and I have but I could not allow this to pass by.

'Ben, bring Layla with to the lake.' I said through the mind link.

'Why?' He responded quickly.

' I need to talk to her. This is not a request but an order.'

Before he could respond I shut down the link and looked at my two men. "You heard what Tess said about Layla and when she arrives she is to be detained. If this man can verify that she set this up then you are to take her to the holding cells."

"Yes alpha," both men said at the same time.

I turned around and looked at the water as I waited for everyone to arrive and thought about Tess. She looked drained and I felt bad. From what I could piece together she had never used her siren powers and as of right now she was using a lot of it. It was like asking a new wolf to fight a war and expecting them to take out ten people. She would need to practice and I should have thought about that.

Soon I was brought out of my thoughts by people talking and turned around. There stood over a dozen men and women. Been and Layla we're heading towards us and I smiled.

I waited for Ben and Layla to join and my two men grabbed Layla's arms and stopped her from walking closer to me.

'Stand near Layla and make sure she does not get away,' I mind linked Charlie and Like.

'Yes, alpha,' they both said.

"What is going on?" Ben asked as he walked up next to me while holding Layla's hand.

I looked at the crowd of people and said, "thank you all for coming. As you all know we were attacked and today Tess found the leader behind it." I looked at Layla but her face remained the same. No hint of fear.

"Tess will be bringing this person up so I can question him. During this time if Tess can she will be bringing everyone else up and you are to detain them."

"Why?" Layla asked.

"Because she is growing weak."

I could see the concern cross Ben's face as I said that but Layla just smirked.

"Of course, she can't handle doing her job," Layla said.

"Considering she has never used her powers I must applaud her for the job she has done."

Before Layla could respond I heard a throat clear behind me and I turned around. There stood Tess with a swaying man.

"Here he is," she said.

"Thank you. Can you release him from his hold so I can speak to him?"

Tess looked at Layla and then said, "actually I can get him to talk," she said as she grabbed him by the face and looked him in the eye. I watched as her eyes turned pitch black and she said, "tell me why you attacked the pack?"

The man swayed and said, "A beautiful woman came to me and offered me a pack and the roll of alpha if I killed Tess and the alpha. I could have it all and her. She not only was rich but she gave herself to me."

"And who is this woman?" I asked.

He said nothing and I looked at Tess and she smiled. "Who is this woman?" She asked.

"Layla. She is my queen and luna."

Just then my men grabbed Layla and she began to scream.

Ben's Point of View

Hearing Layla's name fall from the man's lips cause my heart to sink but then I heard her screaming. I turned around and two warriors were pulling her away and as I took a step towards them I felt someone grab my arm. As I looked at the hand and then at the face it belonged to I said, "let me go, Rick. She did not do this. She wasn't even here."

"Exactly but right now she is being taken to the cells for questioning. Do your job."

"She is my chosen mate and mother to my son. Tess is making him lie." I tried to get Rick's hand off me but he didn't let go and I growled.

"Do your job or give up the title for women who has harmed her pack."

I looked around and could see people whispering about what was going on.

'We need to learn the truth," my wolf said.

I looked at Tess and said, "even if she is proven guilty we will never be."

"I know," she whispered.

Rick began asking questions and Tess would have the man talk and at the end, I watched as my best friend ended his life.

"Do you have enough energy to bring everyone else up?" He asked Tess.

"I can have them swim up but you will need to detain them quickly because I won't be able to keep them under my spell. I am too weak."

"Do it."

As Rick addressed the pack I watched as Tess touched the water and a large ripple run through the water. Soon people began to swim towards shore and pack members began to grab them.

Tess started to sway and I caught her as she began to fall. "I'm sorry about Layla," she whispered right before she passed out.

I picked her up and looked at Rick. "Take her to the hospital and then meet me in the cells." I nodded and began to walk away.

'Why would you deny us our true mate if Layla is guilty?' My wolf asked.

'Because she is the reason I won't have my family.'

'And what if the baby isn't ours?' He asked and I didn't say a thing because I knew Layla would never hurt me.
