Jogging down the stairs to Kala’s apartment, I had a spring in my step, I always felt more energetic after s*x and I was excited to see Kala again, she was a sweet little thing, so innocent, god knows what she saw in my moody wayward brother, I’d had my orders to help her although I had a sneaky suspicion, she wasn’t aware of that fact.
Her door was half open, why would you leave your door open? It’s not like it was a bad neighbourhood in fact it was the safest neighbourhood I’d ever lived in, but I still wouldn’t be leaving my door open, no wonder Ryker worried about her so much if she did things like this.
Slowly entering her apartment, I found it empty, the stale stench of blood hung in the air, where was she? s**t there was blood on the floor, now I was worried. I didn’t even think twice while thumbing the call button.
Skye “Ryker?”
Ryker “what do I owe the pleasure of your call”
Skye “um”
Ryker “how is the packing going? I will be with you both soon”
Skye “somethings wrong, something is very f*****g wrong”
Ryker “calm down and tell me what’s happened”
Skye “I don’t know”
Ryker “f**k sake Skye are you having a manic episode again- “
Skye “f**k you! She’s gone, she’s f*****g gone!”
Ryker “Kala?”
Skye “f**k sake Ryker yes! She’s gone”
Ryker “tell me what happened now”
Skye “I don’t f*****g know, I got here she’s gone and- “
Ryker “and?”
Skye “there’s f*****g blood on the floor, what do I do?”
Skye “Hello?”
Skye “f*****g answer me you f*****g caveman”
Great, f*****g great, he could have at least told me what to do, come on Skye think, think, I started pacing the room, trying to think of a logical explanation why she had gone and there was blood on the floor.
“Are you done arguing with yourself?”
I froze, oh s**t I wasn’t alone, turning I saw her twirling a knife around her forefinger, smiling at me like we were old buddies.
“Lily?”
“The one and same, did you miss me”
“Can’t say I did, no”
“Ah, now why do you have to be that way, I thought we were friends”
“The last time I saw you, you had a knife at my throat, which part of that unhappy occasion would lead you to believe something so ridiculous”
“Tiny details darling, that’s in the past” I scoffed at her remark.
“Well as much fun as this has been, where is she?”
“Who?” She innocently asked.
“Kala, where is she?”
“Sorry, don’t know her”
“But yet you’re standing in her apartment”
“Oh Pooh, you’ve got me there”
“Lily where is she?”
“Can’t say I recall”
“Well, you better f*****g get your memory back fast”
“Oh?”
“My brother is pissed, you remember him, right? Oh, what am I saying of course you do, he’s your favourite obsession”
Slamming the knife down on the side, the metal clattered and echoed through the room.
“It was love!” She screamed at me.
“No, it wasn’t love you crazy b***h” she picked the knife back up and slowly made her way towards me.
“Do I need to remind you, I’m the one holding the knife” I rolled my eyes at her.
“Do I need to remind you, I don’t f*****g care”
She took a step back, I wasn’t scared of lily or her pointy new friend, and she could see that, there was no fear on my part but there should be plenty on hers when Ryker showed up and found the only person, he had ever loved…. gone.
Not even I would be able to stop the storm that was headed this way, Lily should be afraid, she should be very afraid.
Ryker
Driving maniacally to kala’s apartment I was still reeling from Skye’s phone call, I assumed they’d got bored, packing wasn’t fun, but hearing that she was gone ripped my f*****g heart in two, if anyone had hurt her, I’d f*****g kill them, she was mine, my sweet and innocent little angel and somebody had f*****g taken her away from me.
I knew, I knew something was wrong this morning, I just thought she didn’t want me to leave her, but she was on edge, more than usual, why didn’t I see there was something wrong? Why didn’t I press her for more details, f**k, I would do anything for her, why did she not trust me enough to tell me whatever the f**k it was she was running from?
I climbed the stairs two by two, hoping and f*****g praying she was back, that it was all just a sick joke.
‘Skye, where is she?” I demanded.
“Why don’t you ask her” she moved to the side so I could see who I was supposed to be asking, f**k.
“Lily?”
“Hello gorgeous, fancy meeting you here”
“Have you lost the f*****g plot”
“Years ago, darling”
“Where is she? What have you done?”
“Me? Nothing- well actually I might have hit her over the head”
The rage bubbled up inside of me as those words left her filthy mouth, she might have hit her over the head, might of? Well, I might f*****g strangle the life out of her, f*****g crazy b***h, I charged towards her pushing her up against the wall, wrapping my hands around her throat as she levitated from the ground.
“f*****g tell me where she is!” Squeezing her neck tighter as she was gasping for breath.
“f*****g tell me!”
“f**k sake Ryker how can she tell you anything if she’s dead, let go” Skye demanded.
“No”
“If you want to find her, let go”
I wanted to squeeze and squeeze and watch the life drain out of her but as always, the voice of reason, Skye was right if I didn’t let her go how was I ever going to find her, I had my hands round her neck, but it was me that couldn’t breathe, it felt like the whole world was closing around me and once again, I was lost.
I slowly released my grip on her neck as she gasped repeatedly drawing the air back into her lungs, I waited for her breathing to regulate but I didn’t move, I wanted answers and she was going to f*****g give me them, by whatever means necessary, I didn’t care what I had to do, without Kala my heart was broken and I was going to f*****g put it back together again, I had to, I just had to.
“Speak”
“Uh, your no fun anymore”
“I don’t f*****g care, where is she”
“Well just so you know this wasn’t my idea”
“Do I look like I’m playing games to you?”
“No”
“So, stop f*****g stalling and tell me where she is”
“Oh charming, no hello Lily how are you”
“Lily I’m f*****g warning you”
“This is all your fault!”
My fault? This was my fault? How the f**k was this my fault?
“Lily- “
“No! This is all your fault, all the s**t you did to me and all you ask is about her”
“Lily, I didn’t f*****g do anything you didn’t ask for”
“You didn’t love me, but you love her”
“Yes”
“Yes, I love her”
Skye started jumping up and down manically clapping her hands like a f*****g seal, why was she happy? This was the worst day of my existence, and she was jumping up and down like she had won the lottery.
“Will you stop that”
“What?”
“Why are you so happy”
“Because I was right, I knew you loved her” I rolled my eyes.
“That’s great, now I’ve lost her” I replied defeated.
“No, you haven’t” Lily exclaimed. Skye and I both looked at her.
“I wanted to see if I could win you back first, seen as how you tried to kill me, I guess that’s off the table”
“You know where she is?”
“I do”
“Is she still alive” I gulped, not even sure I wanted to hear her response.
“She was when she left here”
“So?”
“I will tell you everything”
I finally sighed a long, hard sigh of relief, finally I was getting somewhere, I just wanted her back in my arms where I knew she was safe, I wanted to stare into her eyes and hold on to her like she was the most precious thing in the world, because she was the most precious thing in my world.
“First I have to tell you a few things you need to hear”
We sat down to listen to Lily’s tall tale of explanation of why she had helped take the sunshine from my life and left nothing but a cloudy storm of hopelessness, I was willing to sit down and listen if it meant I would be reunited with my love, I’d go to the ends of the earth for her and I would never stop searching, never, not until she was safely back in my arms where she belonged.
