Destined to be together

Genny was a bit anxious to leave the party as early as possible before anyone noticed her. She didn't like parties. Basically this types of party. People gathered here to show off their wealth. How much they paid on dresses and accessories only for one party. Who’s dress was custom-made who’s necklace was most expensive and so on. Then the mothers shall try to be a matchmaker for their daughters. Always in haunt for wealthy man for their daughters. They will present their daughters as most decorated piece in front of wealthy men. They still believed “A single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of wife.”  Sometimes Genny wondered that society did not change a little bit from time of “Pride and Prejudice”. It’s all the same even now in 21st century. And these mothers are replicas of Mrs. Bennet. With that thought Genny giggled, but she had no interest to waste her time on these kind of parties. But she had to attend this party because it’s her cousin’s 22nd birthday. Her cousin is the famous Catherine Winget, society’s the most desired bachelorette.   Catherine is the only daughter of Genny’s paternal uncle Rodney Winget. If Genny didn’t attend this party Catherine will intentionally spread rumors that she deliberately missed this party because of her jealousy. Yes, Catherine and Genny don’t have good relationship. It’s because Cath didn’t like Genny since childhood for some reason. Genny knew the reason and she agreed the fact that if she was in Cath’s place she would have behave like that. So, Genny has neutral feelings for Cath. She neither hate her, nor like her much because of her nature. She always tried to maintain a cordial relationship with Cath but because of Cath’s arrogance and bully nature it is very difficult for Genny to maintain a cordial relation with Cath. So, Genny usually avoid her until or unless it’s absolutely necessary.  In addition not only Cath but her mother Genny’s aunt Cynthia also does not like her much.  It’s Cath ‘s birthday so the whole Winget family was gathering here to celebrate her birthday along with their peerage on their ancestral castle. Even her paternal grandmother Sicilia was also present in this occasion. So Genny was bound to attend the party whether she was willing or not was not important, because she couldn’t afford to offend her grandmother. So, Genny came up with a strategy that she would come to the party early before others and show herself in front of family specially her grandmother, and then after more people arrive she would leave the party silently. She wanted to leave the party especially before Cath’s friends arrived. They did not go well with Genny. Now as there were many invitees arrived, she was very eager to leave this party before anyone noticed her. So she was almost hiding behind a pillar and waiting for her chance to leave silently. But as soon as she moved towards the door one of Cath’s friends noticed her in the corners and pointed towards her. Cath called her “Genny are you leaving?” Genny rolled her eyes and turns back to face Cath. She smiled and said “No. I am just going to see where Patricia is.”   “Oh! Sorry I misunderstood you. I just thought you are leaving after realizing that your attire doesn’t suit for this party” she said while gloating. And she and her friends started laughing. Genny was hoping that her mother was not around if she heard this she will be very angry with her. Well, Genny had to admit that her attire indeed not suitable for this party. It’s just ordinary in comparison to others and the very moment she set her foot in the hall she realized that she should have listened to her mother. So she was very anxious to leave this party unnoticed.   Everyone here was in their finest clothing and ornament. Forget about the women even men were wearing the most expensive tuxedos of the latest collection of famous designers.   Gosh! These people do love to show off.   As for Cath she was wearing a light pink coloured custom-made deep neck satin princess gown, which is complimenting her rosy complexion. She is wearing expensive pink diamond neck piece with matching earrings and diamond studded platinum bracelet on her left hand. Her brown hair was tied up in a fancy bun on which a vintage diamond and ruby studded tiara was placed. This tiara is Winget’s family heirloom and in the custody of Sicilia Winget, their grandmother.  Grandma gave this to Cath to wear for this special occasion. On the other hand, Genny was just wearing a simple boat necked deep blue coloured A-line gown. It is made up of lace and her long black hair is tide in a simple braid. Genny doesn’t like to wear jewellery so she was just wearing a simple white pearl stud earring.  Genny must admit that Cath was indeed looking gorgeous and royal and in front of her Genny was looking like a wretch. All of Cath’s friends were also wearing designer clothes. Genny certainly realized what was going to come, she just wanted that her mother didn’t learn about this and she didn’t want her mother to be embarrassed because of her ignorance.   She thought to put up a fight. So, Genny replied “What are you talking about?” Cath “It’s about your attire. What the hell are you wearing? Are you wearing this because you want to humiliate me? What will everyone think if I introduce you to them as my cousin? I do have some reputation you should be careful about that. And why are you wearing these specks? Who wear specs with gown? Don’t you have mirror. Please go and check how you are looking.” Cath said these in a high pitched voice so she grabbed some attention and after her friends started laughing loudly more and more people started paying attention to them. Genny is scopophobic, which means she is scared of attention. As her cousin Cath knows this every well. Every time she uses Genny’s this weakness to embarrass her publicly. That’s why she told all these in high pitch. Genny thought well Cath’s plan did work. She became tongue-tied in an instant. She was just hoping that her mother was not present in this hall. But to her horror she heard that aunt Cynthia was telling her mother loudly “Oh Patra dear why don’t you groomed your daughter by your own. How could YOUR daughter be like that?” In an instant Genny realized and told herself “I’m doomed”.
