Mate

As Vanessa stood there looking at the couple. She realized why she kept gravitating to him and the reason she was dreaming about him last night. He was her mate. Her mate was with another she wolf. Out in public not caring how it would make his mate feel. The girl kept rubbing her mate’s arms, making it known how intimate they were. His friends at the table were the first to notice her behind them. She saw him starting to look around, when he turned, and their eyes connected the bond snapped into place. There was no doubt that he was meant to be hers. Vanessa stayed silent, she heard the woman call him baby and she touched him. Vanessa couldn’t take it anymore and left. Part of her expected him to follow but he didn’t. Why would he when he already had a girlfriend. He obviously didn’t want her or respect the mate bond.

Vanessa went to her class leaving her friends behind. She wanted time to think without anyone questioning her. Her second class of the day was History 101 with Jasmine. They sat next to each other, but the teacher assigned them to different groups for a project. Vanessa had decided that she wasn’t going to let the bond affect her, since her mate didn’t want her, she would move on with her life. There was no longer a reason to wait for him. He didn’t wait for her. Vanessa had decided to date she wanted to find someone to love her and possible have a chosen mate or a 2nd chance mate once they officially rejected each other.

In her group were 2 girls Jessica from the redwood pack and Mandy from the Blazing Pack and 2 guys Triston the future Alpha for the Shadow pack and Matt a warlock. They got to work assigning different parts for everyone. Triston kept trying to talk to Vanessa, asking her where she was from and if she made any new friends. By the end of class, they had plans to have lunch together. Vanessa felt weird saying yes. She always turned guys down but now that she decided to try and move on, she was giving Triston a chance. He seemed like a nice guy.

They walked to the dining hall together talking and laughing. He was pretty funny. Triston found them a table outside under a tree in the garden area. He sat next to her, instead of across. She wasn’t used to it but tried to relax. They talked about pack life and got to know each other more. Triston was being respectful and didn’t try to touch her. It was very sweet. Vanessa felt a lot better and was in a great mood. Her morning was life changing meeting her mate like that, but it was already looking better.

When it was time to leave Triston asked if it was ok to walk her to her next class which was Ceramics. When they stood up, he grabbed her hand so he could hold it while they walked. It gave Vanessa butterflies. It was her first-time holding hands with a possible boyfriend. As they walked out, she felt like she was being watched. Vanessa looked around and noticed her mate and his friends looking at her. Of course, the same girl from this morning was next to her mate. Triston followed where she was looking and asked if she knew the Markus the future Alpha of the midnight pack. “No, I don’t know those people. Which one is Markus?” she told him. “Markus is the one with his girlfriend next to him. It’s weird how she followed him here, I heard his family doesn’t approve of their relationship and that she only came because she didn’t want him to get close to any other girls.” Vanessa wasn’t sure how to respond to that and stayed quiet.

They reached her class and exchanged numbers so they could talk later. Vanessa was glad she had ceramics class and could spend time working on something peaceful and sort out her thoughts. That was until a new student walked in. She immediately recognized her as the woman all over her mate. She heard her introduce herself to the professor as Sarah. The class seemed to go on forever after Sarah showed up. Sarah recognized Vanessa and made sure to talk extra loud to the girl sitting next to her. Telling her how sweet and caring her boyfriend is and how she will be his Luna. That he will reject his mate for her. Vanessa tried to ignore her, but it was hard to tune her out.

Once class ended, she made her way to training to meet up with Jasmine. She still hasn’t had a chance to tell her about her mate and his girlfriend.
