Chapter 2: Angeles

After we ordered, they began to talk and I excused myself and found Mason, "Mase." I said smiling and watching him grin, "I knew you remembered me!" He said proudly. I gave him a hug and nodded, "Yeah I'm Currently working so I have to be as professional and invisible as possible. So just try not to talk to me too much. You know?" I asked while he gave a strong nod, "Absolutely. God you look great. I almost didn't recognize you. You really do look expensive." He said proudly. Rolling my eyes, I swatted his arm, "Just make sure you're quick on our orders. These men aren't the waiting type." I warned while he gave a nod. "Million or billion?" He asked quietly, and I smirked "Bill baby." I said softly before heading back to my table. Sitting down I watched Christian give me a small wink, glad that I fixed it. The rest of the night they talked and I realized it wasn't normal stocks and business talk. They've got fortunes in illegal stocks as well, exchanges and price gauging. Our food was brought quick too, everything was done quick and orderly. Glasses were never empty and no one had to call him over at any point. Mason did amazing! "Holton, give me a call tomorrow about the new buyers." Christian said while I looked to Holton and realized his familiar features.  What a f*****g small world? I watched him nod and not notice me, it would cost my good ratings if I spoke up. Christian stood and I did the same walking out with him and to his car. Once we were on the freeway, Christian spoke up, "You did amazing. I'm going to have to advise you not to discuss anything you heard tonight. Can I trust that?" He asked pulling a gun from behind his pants and placing it in the door beside him. I eyed the gun and gave a nod, "How much would I have to make to join?" I asked while he turned and stared at me shaking his head, "Marry in. You won't be accepted otherwise. They're not very open to new comers. We had a guy years back, he tried to join and wounded up owing us a lot. We had to kill him. Not a very easy game." He said giving me a look. The guy years back, "You're talking about Henry Lauch." I said softly and wanting to break this weird tension I had for him. He stayed silent and pulled the gun out c*****g it. Yeah, I should've seen this coming. Reaching up I pulled the knife out quickly holding it to his throat while he held the gun aimed to my stomach. "How do you know Henry?" He asked scowling ahead as he drove. I smirked softly, I've dreamt of this day, but I-I never expected what I'd do. Keeping my eyes on his scar, I reached up with my left hand and stroked it gently, his chest rising and falling in deep motions, "I'm his daughter, I have to admit, I honestly don't want to kill you. I owe you a great deal of gratitude. You let me live." I said finally. He stared over at me and then the road, he moved four lanes over and got off driving us off the road and deep into the dirt road. Then he parked the car and turned the lights off, locking the door. My heart was racing but I knew what I wanted. Christian lowered his gun and placed it on the floor by his feet. I moved the knife and sat back watching him stare at the dirt and small shrubs ahead, "Fuck." He muttered smacking his palm into the steering wheel a few times before shoving the door open and getting out. What the hell is his problem? I waited for him to cool off and he came back into the car shutting the door and sitting back undoing his tie. "You're living as this? This? Didn't he leave you any f*****g money? He was a f*****g secret millionaire." He said aggravated as he looked me over. Shaking my head, I shrugged, "I got forty thousand dollars from him. Then I was in foster houses." I said quietly. He sighed and cursed low, "Your grandfather-your mother's father, was part of this. He brought your father in. I hadn't known him but I knew your mother since we were kids." He said quietly. Oh, "She died before I could ever ask her anything important." I replied. Christian nodded, "You shouldn't be doing this.  I'd never let my daughter do this-do you understand how dangerous this is? Getting in the car with strange older men. You understand some of the men in this city are s*x traffickers, right?" He asked glaring at me now. Is he scolding me? What the f**k? I scoffed now, "Oh sorry you killed my father, but that doesn't mean you get to replace him." I said furiously. His face fell and he shook his head, "I never killed your father. I never wanted to do it, it's why I went upstairs to find you. Any of those others would've killed you and slept heavenly the next night." He said loud and angry too. Pursing my lips, I glared at the glove compartment, "Well, like you said, my father was in it, as was my grandfather, let me in. I want in." I said watching him shake his head. What the f**k? "Christian! I-I'm not defenseless and I'm not stupid. I know what I'm doing. Right now my location is being tracked. It has been since I left. And if you try anything all I have to do it press the side button on my phone twice and it'll call my friend and bam, she has my location and will send police." I said moving and sitting to face him now. He glared at me, "I could pin you to the seat and rape you, shoot you and dump your body before the cops would ever show up." He said coldly. I eyed him over, "I just want to be a billionaire. I know I can do it. Please. I'm begging you. I won't borrow any money, if you really care about me doing this, then help me." I said quietly. His eyes ran over me and he muttered a few curse words under his breath, "You can't say you're his kid. You're supposed to be dead, gone." He said glaring at me now. Oh, "So what do I do?" I asked slumping into the seat. Christian eyed me over, "Marry my son." He suggested. Oh my god, "I already told you I want to make my own fortune. My name will be made for me by me." I said watching him nod, "Exactly. You won't have any of his fortune. He can only marry a woman with more fortune than him or if the assets are entirely separated." He said looking to me. So, "You'll get your foot in and then make your own fortune. It'll be a good start." He explained. I pursed my lips, "Vader doesn't seem interested, I doubt he'd agree." I said reminding him it wouldn't work. He shook his head, "No, not Vader he's engaged." He said sighing and clearly showing he doesn't like that girl. I looked to him furrowing my eyebrows, "Then who?" I asked. Christian stared me over, "Angeles. He's two years older. Vader's only twenty two, he'd hate marrying an older girl anyways." Why do I have a feeling that this is the Angeles I think it is? I sighed as the bits connected. "Angeles Vaughn." I said softly with annoyance. He stared at me confused, "So you know him?" He asked starting the car again. I gave a nod, "Yeah, I know Angel. So let's say he agrees, then what? I'm stuck with him forever?" I asked glaring ahead. Christian shook his head, "You'll make yourself a millionaire in the first year of working, be with him for another five years and you'll officially be a billionaire. It's just five years. Then you can leave him and keep your fortune." He suggested. Just five years. Five years to be a billionaire....that's, unimaginable. "I'll think about it." I said watching him get back on the freeway and nod. We drove in silence the whole way home and he dropped me off handing me a card. I took it and he pulled out a wad of hundreds placing it in my lap. "Don't work until you've decided." He said once before I took the money and put it in my clutch before getting out. I shut the door and headed inside giving the doorman a small smile and going to the room. I unlocked the door and locked it behind me going to my safe before counting the money. Five thousand dollars in cash. Jesus Christ. Biting my lip, I thought of Angeles.... That devil, for five years. Fuck.
