Chad POV
We had travelled for one day now and took turns throughout the night to sleep in shifts and the other patrolled. We woke up and some made breakfast over the fire. Nothing eventful had happened yet. My father liked to go around using his Alpha aura unnecessarily giving everyone orders like, gather wood for fire or hunt for food. Our pack warriors would do these things with just a verbal order with no aura. He was in a mood this morning. I hated the way he abused his aura like that.
I sat down on a log with Brett. Grabbing one of the squirrels on a stick I had been roasting on the fire and began eating it. “He seems to be on one this morning.” Brett said lowly to me. “Yep. For no reason other than he is a coward, even when we are winning battles, he does not want to face battle.” I replied to him.
We sat for a moment, and both ate our breakfast.
We leave in ten minutes. - Alpha
My father’s voice interrupted our pack mind link. He would command everyone to shift before leaving so I went ahead and stripped my clothes placing them in my duffle bag quickly forcing my wolf forward and to shift. Once in my wolf form I was the biggest wolf here. Just a couple inches larger than my father. I feel like me being here is making him feel intimidated. I should have already taken the pack by now and rumors would start if he didn’t hand it over by the time this war ended. I knew my time was coming but I was patient, and I would wait on him to hand it over to me peacefully.
I trotted over into the trees where it was a little thicker and just out of sight and allowed my wolf to use the restroom. He loved to mark his territory everywhere. Then hurried back. Brett had shifted also and grabbed his bag in his mouth and I did the same. We headed over to where my father was and they were already gathering around also, we had at least another full day until we made it to the fronts and part of another day. I sat down next to my father.
Morning. I mind linked to just him. Morning son. We will head out soon. He told me. You seem a little on edge this morning. Anything I need to know about? I asked him and he immediately growled short and hard at me. No. You take going into battle too lightly. He told me and then turned to face away from me and shoved our mind link closed. Brett’s wolf at me and the best I could I shrugged in my wolf form. How embarrassing. He was turning around not to face me like a toddler. He was getting honoree the older he got.
A few minutes passed and he called out through the pack’s mind link: Run.
Then he took off but not in a full sprint and we all followed again.
