Dallas stood in the shower and let the warm water run over her face. She was so tired; it was like every muscle in her body ached. The doctors said it would take time to heal both mentally and physically. She has been spending time with her sister and Mother. It was weird for her to say that word still. She had never acknowledged it before all this. ‘Mother’ echoed in her head as she thought of the concept. Growing up she always pretended that she was dead, it was easier for her that way. Then she would not look for her in every stranger’s face. Now she was no longer a stranger but here with her in the flesh and bone. She had been stolen away from them.
The shower door opened and brought her back to reality and she opened her eyes to see Nash standing their fully clothed. “Hun, we are going to be late. Did you fall asleep or something?” He looked worried as he waited for an answer.
“No, uuhn, sorry, I ummm…..I will be right out.” Dallas answered slightly startled that she had been in there so long that he had to come and get her. Maybe she did fall asleep. She hurriedly got out of the shower and ready to go with her hair up in a wet bun. Today she wore a light blue strapless sundress she liked the way Nash looked like he wanted to eat her when she wore this color. She was ready to go in 15 minutes.
Jezz with Owen and Namid with Dugan were all waiting down in the lobby when the elevator opened. Dallas saw the limo waiting just outside the glass front doors. All the employee’s nodded as they walked by. Namid looked cute with her short hair and her light pink chiffon sleeved dress that went barely to her knees and Jezz looked like Jezz in a bright yellow jump suit with one shoulder bare. Owen looked like he was going to kill anyone who looked at her sideways. They all loaded up in the limo and they were off.
Tonight, was coronation night for Nash into Alpha and Dallas into Luna. They were also recognizing Jezz and Namid as new members of the pack. It was the first full moon since his return from the rescue efforts for the women. Nash looked around at everyone in the limo and his heart was full. These were all the right people to be here right now. He missed his father and wished he had just one more piece of advice from him. That was not an option and that was why the Moon Goddess gave him such a strong Luna, they were awesome together. His thumb gently caressed her shoulder as he thought of everything that was going to happen tonight.
The 3-hour drive went by quickly with conversations. As they pulled around the circle drive of the main pack house the conversation ended as the huge compound of a house blocked out the sun. “Oh my God!” Jezz exclaimed in her usually fashion “That is the biggest house I have ever seen. Why is it so big?” She did not look away as she asked.
“This is our pack house, well compound really. We have many families that live here and as a pack we like to live together, and this allows them to do that and have privacy.” Owen told her as he looked out the window with her. He loved seeing the world through her eyes but as he looked out the window cheek to cheek with her, he picked up a smell. Something different coming from her. Just at that moment the door flew open and Jezz was outside looking around in awe.
Everyone else followed her out and quickly there were people taking their luggage into the house. Dallas heard herself get called Luna almost exclusively with bows and nods. Nash, as the Alpha, was looked at with pride and a little fear and exclusively called Alpha. Dallas thought it was a beautiful home set up against the lush grasslands and forests all around. The home itself was cedar siding and a copper roof with dark brown shutters and greeted by the huge wrap around porch. In the middle of the circle driveway was a water fountain with the same statue as in the condo complex of a family of wolves.
“There you are!” Dallas heard the familiar voice of Nash’s mom, Gloria, coming from inside the doorway. Her bright smiling face came out of the darkened doorway with open arms and pulled each one of them in with a hug. “Your rooms are ready. I have instructed them to take your stuff to your rooms and I have set out your dress for this evening Luna.” She looked at her with a shy smile. “It’s kind of a tradition so I hope you don’t mind.” Dallas smiled and nodded in agreement.
The group was escorted to their room and right away Dallas noticed the hierarchy that Nash had explained. The Omega were the working bees and did all the little things but were very valued by the rest of the pack. Nobody could mistreat anyone for any reason. She noticed a large painting of Nash’s parents in the great room where an exceptionally long dining table was set. She was barely able to take it all in on her way by. Nash had his hand protectively on her waist the entire time. She liked him being protective.
As they walked quickly down a long hallway that was highlighted with lights and doors every so often the came to larger than normal door. “Luna, I hope you find your room to your liking.” A small girl who maybe was barely 16 years old open the door and smiled back at her. Her blond hair was pulled back in a scarf to keep her hair out of her green eyes.
“I am sure it will be simply fine. This room is bigger than my house, so I do not have overwhelming expectations. What is your name?” Dallas stopped to talk with the girl.
She looked struck that Dallas would stop and talk to her. She searched for her name for a moment “Jenny, Jenny Struck.” She bowed formally.
“I am Dallas. You may call me that if you like.” Nash had already walked in the room and the two women were talking with each other. Dallas smiled warmly at her.
Jenny thought she was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. Perfect tanned skin, deep brown eyes and beautiful blue black hair. She looked down remembering that she was not supposed to look at them too long. “Luna, with all due respect. I want to call you Luna.”
“Very well then, Luna it is. Thank you very much Jenny. I appreciate all your hard work. The room is extraordinary.” Jenny bowed and left the room as Dallas walked away.
As Jenny closed the door Nash came walking out of the changing room. He was smiling at her like a cat that ate the canary. “I cannot wait to see you in that dress, Luna. He pulled her into his arm. I should probably see it on you now, so I don’t pass out at my own coronation.” He snuggled his nose into her neck and gave her kiss.
Dallas pulled away from him and walked into the dressing room. There hung the most beautiful gown she had ever seen. It was white underlay with golden hand made lace with a split right up to the thigh. The bodice was white with the gold lace that came up in a collar and perfectly caressed her bosom which was enhanced by the see-through lace sleeves and a V that encased her center finger. The detail was extraordinary and once she got past its beauty, she noted the wolves that danced along the bottom in the lace. She was breathless to say the least.
Her fingers traced the bodice and then down the sleeves wondering how many other women have worn this dress. Would she be able to fill their shoes? Would she do it justice? Self-doubt starting clawing at her thoughts. Was she really supposed to be here?
“Yes, my love, yes and very much yes.” Nash was standing behind her, his green eyes were glowing at her. “You belong anywhere that I am. We are mates but we are much more than that. So, hear me now; I want you take this coronation and run with it. The Moon Goddess never makes a mistake. You are PERFECT for this. I love you to the very depths of my soul.” He was standing directly behind her, and he reached up and placed a necklace around her neck.
It was a large opal that was broken in half in the center but fitted together perfectly in a ring of rose gold hanging from a solid rope chain. “This represents US, or our souls rather. We fit together perfectly kept together by the bonds that hold us here in this place.” She smiled and pulled her hair to the side so he could clasp it.
It was beautiful and perfect, how the light shimmered off it in so many different colors. She admired it in the mirror for a moment as he stood behind her looking at her in the mirror. “It’s so, so…perfect.” Then a look came over face and she put her hand over her mouth and lunged for the toilet. She barely made it in the toilet. Nash was right behind her holding her hair up and rubbing her back.
When she was done, she sat back on her heels. “I feel like I really impressed you there. I don’t know what is wrong with me, but occasionally I just get this nausea feeling but this is the first time.” She looked over at him and he was grinning at her. “What?” He started to chuckle a bit and sat down on the floor with her.
“I think you know or could be suspicious of something?” He was genuinely surprised she had not figured it out yet. Sleeping a lot, nausea, eating things like peanut butter sandwiches. His eyes were teasing her as he smiled widely. She shook her head ‘No’. “My Love, you are pregnant. With our first son!” She was astonished. Her heart fluttered and then sunk to her stomach.
“How do you know that?” She started to stand up and he helped her.
“I can smell the change in your scent.” He pulled her in for a hug. “I think we need to hurry this wedding along, don’t you?”
There was a knock on the door and Nash left the room to go answer the door. Dallas looked in the mirror and then touched her stomach. Deep down she had known, Winona had alluded to it a few times, but she ignored it. Fear from deep in her vibrated through her body. She gulped it back, brushed her teeth and headed out of the bathroom.
She was met by a few of Nash’s cousins who were there to help her get ready. They were all giggling and hand their hands full of curling irons, hair spray, make-up and whatever else they needed. Dallas looked at Nash with a confused look on her face. “They will help you get ready. I will see you at the coronation. I have some things to do. I love you.” He blew her a kiss and walked out the door.
