Alpha Brekston

1942 Words
Dugan sat in the corner watching his Alpha and thinking about Noah.  He had died a hero, saving his family from the bomb as much as he could.  For the most part his pack was tight knit community and not much exciting happened that did not come with a reveal party from one of their many million-dollar businesses.  He had known both those boys since their birth, he had trained them to be fighters and to be businessmen. He looked over at his Luna who was washing Owen’s brow with a damp cloth and thought how strong she looked.  She had been a great choice for Noah even though they were not mates.  He wondered how all this really happened. One of them let out a groan and then Owen shot straight up in his bed with his eyes wide open staring at his mother. She gasped at him and could do nothing but stare back at him. “Who are you? Where am I? Where is Jezzabelle?” Then his eyes shut, and he fell back to his bed. Gloria caught his head just in time to gently lay it on the bed. Nobody noticed Nash wake up, but he just stayed there and listened for a moment.  Dugan did notice his body breathing different, so she stood up and as he did Nash sat up at the edge of the bed. Dugan dropped to one knee and bowed his head “Alpha Brekston.” “Please stand-up Dugan.  You have always been a loyal friend of my father’s and I look forward to your guidance and friendship in the future.” Nash was happy to see his mother had all the tubes removed from his person. His legs left a bit numb as he dangled them over the edge of the bed. “Do I have any cloths here?” His body was sore, every muscle felt like a guitar string.  He sat at the edge of the bed feeling dizzy for a bit. “No, you have no cloths.” Gloria answered. Owen stirred again and Nash took notice, willing him to open his eyes. “Brother, open your eyes.  Come back to us.” Nash wanted him to be here. Owen did open his eyes, but they were Brenden’s eyes bright yellow. He was angry, Brenden had always been a little on the edge but there was no Owen there to control him right now. “Who are you people? Are you keeping me from my Jezzabelle on purpose?  You do not want Owen to get better. What is all this s**t attached to me?  Are you trying to keep me sick? I will not let you do that to Owen. Oh no no no no.” He waged a finger in Gloria’s face and Dugan walked up next to her showing that she had some protection. Brenden glanced over at him and then back to Gloria. “Why aren’t you answering my questions!” He screamed at her. “Brother!” Colton said. “Nobody is harming you.  We have been in a bad accident.  Owen has been in coma for nine months.  Our mates have been missing for that long and we both have to work together to find them.” Colton stood up and walked over to Brenden. “Can you move?” Brenden lifted his arms up and then tossed his blanket off himself. “These need to be removed please.” He was doing his best to calm down but that was always Owen’s job.  He hoped that Owen would be able to join him soon.  He was not a very good person without him. Gloria demanded the nurse take all the tubes off Brenden and she did even as he growled at her the entire time. It would be a few hours before either of the men could leave.  They needed time to build up the strength and the wolves to repair what they could. “Mom, where is my phone?” Nash had taken back control. She dug in her purse and handed it to him. It had a shattered screen and still some concrete dust stuck in the edge. He opened it up and looked through his texts. “I think I know who the inside person is.” His heart was beating in his chest. “Nance had texted me to see where we were just before the bomb.” “Nance the secretary for Me. Myself and I?” Gloria took the phone and read the message. “She booked all your travels right?” Nash nodded he was sick to his stomach.  “I am going to kill her.” Dugan stood up. “Wait.  I will mindlink a few guys and have her tailed for a while.  We need to know who she is talking with.  I will also have her phone confiscated.” Nash nodded in agreement. Suddenly Nash went silent and still. His eyes closed and he looked almost like he was going to have a seizure to everyone in the room.  Inside his head he heard her sweet voice. ‘Nash, I am in Scotland. Some creep named Gibbe.  I miss you so.  Jezzabelle is here too.  I have a plan so let me know when you are closer, then it will not be so hard to communicate. The loop is closing for now. I love you.” The last part was like a whisper as it floated around in his head. When he opened his eyes, everyone was staring at him. “Did Dallas just connect with you?” Brenden asked the question everyone wanted the answer too. “Well, it was Winona her wolf. She said that Jezzabelle is with her and that they are in Scotland. I still think we need to trail Nance and see who all she is working with. Dugan, I want you to pick 10 other men that you trust to bring with us.  Other than that, nobody needs to know where we are going.” Nash stood up and put another hospital rode and started walking for the door. “Let’s go.” Six months earlier Winona was laying on her bed reading a book.  At least there was plenty of those here.  She terrorized everyone that came in her room and so far had killed 3 people.  She was not taking prisoners.  Everytime Gibbe walked in she would just tell him how he was going to die by her hands.  She was deciding how she was going to do it.  She lived to rattle his cage.  Once in a while she would talk with Dallas but she kept her in the dark about what actually was happening. Suddenly a cat jumped up on her bed. ‘Where did you come from?” He was pure black with big green eyes and purring like crazy. He rubbed on her and then snuggled into her arms.  She started petting him and realized that he was full soot. “You came from the fireplace.”  She had never looked up the fire chimney.  ‘Stupid me.’ She cursed herself as she made her way to the fireplace.  She saw clear blue sky at the top and it wasn’t even that tall. That night she climbed up the chimney and in a few short minuets she was breathing fresh air as she stepped out on the roof. Lucky for her the moon was full and the sky was pretty clear, which was rare. She made her way over to the next chimney and looked down.  It was safe to descend. She hoovered just above the hearth listening and did not hear anything but the rhythmic beating of a heart machine. She crawled out of the chimney and saw her sister there in the hospital bed. As soon as she touched her hand Jezz’s heartrate changed. “Sis, you need to pull out of this.” Winona pulled both her hands into hers and then sent good vibes to her with healing energy.  After a bit Winona looked up and saw Nishiime’s amber eyes. ‘Hey girl!  Long time sister.’ She hugged her and then they heard the door key.  Winona quickly looked around and then slid under the regular bed in the room. “I just noticed that her heart monitors changed.  It’s the first sign that someone is waking up.” Winona knew that voice. She saw legs standing around her sister’s bed. “Humm, I don’t understand.  I guess we don’t know everything about werewolves.  Maybe it takes time.” She saw them flashing lights in her eyes and then they left. Winona heard the door shut and came out from under the bed. “Sister, we will have to make a plan. I know how to get over here now so I can help you heal. I will be back another day.”  She returned to the fireplace and scaled back up the chimney and returned to her room without anyone noticing. “I think I will name you Freer.” The cat had not left her bed and he greeted her with a deep purr as he snuggled into her. “Yeah, Freer.” Winona was excited she had found a way out and that she found her sister.  Now she just had to her better and get Nash here to help. After that night Winona became a frequent visitor to her sister’s room. Jezz had hit her head pretty hard and was still feeling the effects with headaches and bright light aversion. She was getting to know her wolf Nishiime, which means second sister in Ojibway.  They were learning to work together in the little bit they could train. Winona even started letting Dallas out more often now that she better understood the circumstances and that Nash was not dead.   Winona sat on the roof top and watched the sun come up.  She wanted to get a layout of the land surrounding them.  It looked like a well-fortified castle nestled into a mountain side. The main gait seemed to be the only entrance and there was a wall surrounding the perimeter with guards.  She felt that the mountains would give good cover to mount an escape.  She followed the ridgeline with her eye and noticed something, a cave.  She would have to watch the cave and see if anything happens there. Then she heard a scream, it was not a scream from her sister.  Maybe it was that third person that is trapped here. She made her way over to where she thought she heard the scream and peered down the chimney and saw light at the bottom. “No, you will not touch them.” She heard the words echo up the chimney.  The voice sounded oddly familiar. “Take what you want from me but do not ever touch them.” Winona had to scurry back to her room before she was noticed. She wondered why she knew that voice from somewhere deep in her soul. ‘I wonder if that was my mother?’ Dallas said from inside her head. IF it is her mother then the three of them together with their mates would be unstoppable. Tomorrow night she would find out she thought to herself as she slid next to Freer in bed.  He had brought her a nice little rabbit to eat.  What a sweetie.
