Hey babe, Kaden said as he walked over to meet Cassie, who was lying on the bed. Yes, sweetheart? she replied softly. “I just got a text from my mum. She wants me to bring you over. What do you think?” he asked. What?? Cassie said and sat up quickly…. I don’t know, Kaden. What do you think will happen?” The last time we went there you saw how she treated me, she insulted my mother.she said her voice raising slightly. Kaden shrugged Let’s just get there first, babe.Let’s hear them out. I promise nobody is talking to you in a rude way this time. Cassie bit her lower lip. You don’t have to be scared, babe,Kaden reassured her gently. “The worst they can do is to reject you again. And if they do, I’ll just keep ignoring them until they accept you.” Cassie looked at him for a moment before nodding slowly. “Alright,” she said. Let me go freshen up. She got off the bed and headed toward the bathroom. “Don’t worry, love,” Kaden said, smiling as he watched her walk away. “It’s you or nobody else.” He leaned forward and kissed her hair softly before she disappeared inside. A few minutes later, Cassie came out. And she quickly dressed up. “Are you ready?” Kaden asked as he grabbed his car keys. Cassie nodded slightly, though the nervousness was still clear on her face. Together, they stepped outside and got into the car. The drive to the Williams mansion was quiet. Cassie stared out of the window, her mind filled with thoughts about what might happen when they arrived. Kaden noticed how silent she was. “Hey,” he said, glancing at her. “Stop worrying so much.” “I can’t help it,” Cassie replied quietly. My parents just need time, he said. They’ll understand eventually. Cassie wasn’t so sure about that, but she didn’t say anything. Soon, the tall gates of the Williams mansion appeared in front of them. The huge house stood proudly behind the gates, shining under the evening lights. Kaden parked the car and turned to Cassie. We’re here, he said. Cassie took a deep breath.I hope this goes well. Kaden reached for her hand and squeezed it gently. It will, he said confidently. They both got out of the car and walked toward the front door. The moment they stepped inside the mansion, Cassie could already feel the tension in the air. Today was going to be another confrontation with Kaden’s parents. And she could only hope it wouldn’t end in another fight. As they walked inside, Cassie couldn’t help but wonder what they wanted to say to her today. She sighted the maids arranging dishes on the table, while Emily was giving out instructions. The moment she saw them, she rushed over with motherly excitement. My son! she cried. “You left the house and refused to pick my calls for a whole week. So if I didn’t tell you to bring my daughter-in-law, you wouldn’t have come to see me. That’s unfair, Emily said, feigning a pitiful face. What? Daughter-in-law? Cassie said in a shocked voice. “Mom, does that mean you accept Cassie as my girlfriend now?” Kaden asked, his face filled with surprise. Why not? Emily replied calmly. “Your father and I already talked about it, and we see that the both of you are really in love with each other. We don’t want to lose you too, so we have no choice but to accept her,” she said, smiling warmly at Cassie. “Thank you so much, ma,” Cassie said with tears of joy in her eyes. Hey, it’s okay, darling, Emily said as she hugged her. So I don’t deserve a hug too?Jordan Williams said as he slowly climbed down the stairs. “Dad!” Kaden exclaimed, rushing to hug his father. “Thank you, Dad, for accepting my girlfriend.” “I had to,” Senator Williams replied with a smile. “I can see she’s the absolute love of your life. They all burst into laughter. Then he turned to Cassie. “Come here, dear,” he called. Cassie walked over to him, and he hugged her briefly, exchanging a wicked smile with Emily that no one else noticed. “Fine, fine, fine. Let’s all go eat. I’m starving,” Kaden said excitedly. “Hey wait, Before that,” Emily said suddenly, I want to give my daughter-in-law a gift. She walked inside and soon returned with a beautiful box. She opened it and brought out a sparkling diamond necklace. She moved closer to Cassie, trying to place it around her neck, but Cassie quickly objected. Ma’am…Cassie started. “No, I’m Mum to you now,” Emily corrected gently. Cassie smiled shyly. “Mum, this gift is too expensive. It looks like a billion-dollar necklace. I can’t accept it. Emily laughed softly. “Silly girl. This necklace is what we give to every daughter-in-law in our family. Now it’s your turn too, so I don’t take no for an answer, Emily said firmly. “Babe, you have to take it,” Kaden said, holding Cassie’s hands. “It’s a gift from Mum, and it means she has fully accepted you.” Cassie looked at him and smiled before nodding slowly. Emily then locked the necklace around her neck and hugged her again. “Now let’s go eat,” she said, ushering them toward the dining table. But as she walked behind them, she locked eyes with Senator Williams again, giving him a cruel smile.
