PROLOGUE
A/N: First of all I would love to thank you for choosing to read my book. I am super honored to have you, so yeah thank you and welcome to this great adventure, which is all about #afriacanjujuism, #naijajujuism, #akscalabarjuju and #africanfuturism, though this book isn’t set in the future but I think I’ll write a book on that. Also, note that this is my first story so there will be lots of bumps, but feel free to give CONSTRUSTIVE CRITISM and ideas if you have, and I’ll be sure to consider them. Plus, I will be using a lot of Nigerian languages, but not much in the prologue though. I’ll also recommend in my playlist Nigerian, African and all the songs I listen to. You can also check the song videos.
SONG: WONDERFUL BY BURNA BOY
UNKNOWN P.O.V
I was covered in bruises and still I could not stop. The last battle was not easy but I had to press on. No! I must! If I didn’t, then all we have worked for would all be in vain, all my dead comrades, all the destruction, the imbalance in the world now would all be useless and I surely was not useless. Before the chaos, I was one of the most useful and resourceful people around. It would not be at the dying hour that I would fail, not when it matters the most, not when all was resting on my shoulders.
With all my remaining strength, I pushed and pushed, running amongst the foliage I used to adore. My favorite spot where I loved to read under the hibiscus shrub which was hidden by my favorite tree, the tree of my ancestors, the palm tree, my eyop. Not the fancy kind but the all-purpose kind, the tree in which no part is useless, from the leaves to the fruit and even the roots, now it was dark. The place that used to make me happy was now revolting, the scent that usually calmed me was gone and replaced by something more foul, the foul stench of death and regret, my regret.
It wasn’t until my face felt cold that I realized that I was crying. I wiped my tears, still running, clutching the chest that determined the fate of my world, but something stopped me. It was THE STROKE that I needed to be. Without a second thought, I walked in not thinking of anything but that my people needed to rise again. And then I knew that they would surely rise again. With or without IT, they were unstoppable together. The last thing I heard before I had fully gone into THE STROKE was my name, MY real name.
