The Bride Who Vanished
The Bennett family mansion had never looked more beautiful.
Crystal chandeliers sparkled above hundreds of elegantly dressed guests. White roses lined the grand aisle, and soft violin music filled the luxurious hall.
Everyone was waiting for one person.
The bride.
In one of the upstairs rooms, Maya Bennett carefully adjusted the delicate veil on her identical twin sister's head.
"You look beautiful, Sophia," she said with a warm smile.
Sophia looked at her reflection in the mirror but didn't smile back.
Instead, she looked... frightened.
Her hands trembled.
Her breathing was uneven.
Maya frowned.
"Sophia?"
"Are you okay?"
Sophia forced a smile.
"I'm fine."
"You don't look fine."
"It's just wedding nerves."
Maya wasn't convinced.
The sisters had always been close. She knew Sophia better than anyone else in the world.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
A knock came at the door.
Their mother peeked inside, her face glowing with excitement.
"The ceremony starts in twenty minutes!"
"Sophia, sweetheart, everyone is waiting."
"I'll be there soon, Mom."
Mrs. Bennett smiled proudly before closing the door.
Silence filled the room again.
Sophia suddenly grabbed Maya's hands.
"If..."
"If something unexpected happens today..."
"Will you forgive me?"
Maya laughed nervously.
"What kind of question is that?"
Sophia lowered her eyes.
"I just need to hear your answer."
Maya squeezed her hands.
"You're my sister."
"There isn't anything you could do that would make me stop loving you."
Tears gathered in Sophia's eyes.
"Thank you."
Before Maya could ask why she was crying, Sophia hugged her tightly.
Longer than usual.
Almost like she was saying goodbye.
When they pulled apart, Sophia smiled.
"I just need a few minutes alone."
"I'll meet you downstairs."
Maya hesitated.
"Are you sure?"
Sophia nodded.
"Please."
"Okay."
"If you need anything, call me."
"I will."
Maya left the room and gently closed the door behind her.
Sophia stood motionless.
She looked at herself in the mirror one last time.
Then...
She reached into a drawer and pulled out a folded letter.
With trembling hands, she placed it on the dressing table.
"I'm sorry..."
She whispered.
A tear rolled down her cheek.
She quietly opened the balcony door.
Without looking back...
She climbed over the railing, stepped onto the emergency staircase, and disappeared.

Fifteen minutes later...
The wedding hall buzzed with excitement.
The groom, Ethan Carter, stood confidently at the altar in a perfectly tailored black suit.
Tall.
Handsome.
Successful.
The heir to the Carter Group.
He checked his watch.
Five minutes late.
His expression remained calm.
The guests began whispering.
"What's taking so long?"
"Maybe the bride is nervous."
"I'm sure she'll be here."
Upstairs...
Mrs. Bennett knocked on the bridal suite door.
"Sophia?"
No answer.
She knocked again.
Still nothing.
Her smile slowly faded.
She opened the door.
The room was empty.
The veil lay on the floor.
The balcony door was open.
A cold breeze drifted inside.
Mrs. Bennett's eyes widened.
"Sophia?"
She searched the bathroom.
The closet.
Every corner of the room.
Nothing.
Her gaze landed on the folded letter.
Her hands shook as she opened it.
The color drained from her face.
"No..."
"No..."
Moments later, Maya rushed into the room after hearing her mother's cries.
"Mom!"
"What happened?"
Mrs. Bennett silently handed her the letter.
With trembling fingers, Maya unfolded it.
It read:
«Mom... Dad... Maya...
I'm sorry.
I can't marry Ethan.
Please don't look for me.
One day you'll understand why I had to leave.
Tell Maya I'm sorry for leaving everything behind.

The letter slipped from Maya's hands.
Her heart pounded.
"She..."
"She ran away?"
Mrs. Bennett burst into tears.
Downstairs, the guests continued chatting, completely unaware that the bride had vanished.
Then the wedding coordinator rushed into the room, panic written across her face.
"Mrs. Bennett..."
"The guests are getting impatient."
"And..."
She swallowed hard.
"Mr. Carter is asking where his bride is."
The room fell into a suffocating silence.
Outside the door...
The sound of wedding music continued.
Inside...
Everything had fallen apart.
