With Alex intense care and attention for Jackson, he was able to heal. He took care of him like the brother he never had. “We'll be going to get some supplies later, so be ready”. Kia told Alex. Later that day, they drove off. On reaching the town, Kia gave instructions to Alex telling him to wait here while he go and get the supplies. Its been a while he was outside like this to perceive that free air. His eyes scanned through the crowded street, his gaze lingering on the familiar faces of the town. As he turned a corner, a figure emerged from the crowd. An older man, with a kind face and a hint of recognition in his eyes. “Alex?” the man said, his voice laced with uncertainty. Alex's instinct's kicked in, his expression hardened. “I don't know what you're talking about, you probably got the wrong person”, he said in a low and even tone. The man's eyes narrowed, his gaze staring deep into Alex face, “its definitely you, I'm old but not senile, its me, Nelson Vanderbilt, your parents' old friend. I haven't seen you since... well since that tragic incident". Alex hardened expression slipped for a moment, a flicker of emotions crossed through his face. But he quickly regained himself and his expression turned cold. “I don't know you," he repeated, turning to walk away. Nelson followed him, “Alex, wait!, I know it's you. I can see it in your eyes, you're still in there somewhere”. Alex didn't look back, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn't let his guard down not even for a second. He had worked so hard to forget his past and to be where he is now, he isn't going to let all that hard work go to waste. The man couldn't keep up with Alex so he let him go. Alex walked to the main road and shortly after, Reed arrived with the car. “Where have you been huh?!, I gave you instructions to wait there but no, you wondered off like a little boy", Kia said in rage but Alex was quite, pondering on what the man said, “You're still in there somewhere”. But Alex knew that was a lie. The boy he was, was long gone, and in his place, stood a hardened ruthless man. So he told himself.
