Alex's feet carried him back to the dark alleys, doing all the dirty works of Reed. The smoking, bloodshed, the drinking, he slipped back into doing all that. But amidst the chaos, his mind wondered to sunshine, her radiant smile piercing the darkness.
Sometimes he'd find himself standing far away, watching her from the shadows. He'd smile, a faint glimmer of joy in his eyes, as he remembered their laughter, their talks, and their moments of tenderness.
Jackson, however, reveled in Alex's return to form. "The old Jack is back," he'd say, a sly grin spreading across his face. "The gang needs him, and he needs the gang."
But little did Jackson know, Alex's heart still belonged to Sunshine. Though he'd never admit it, the memories of their time together lingered, a constant reminder of the life he'd left behind.
As Alex delved deeper into the darkness, his eyes would occasionally drift to the horizon, searching for a glimpse of Sunshine's warmth. And when the moon was full, he'd whisper her name, the sound carried away by the wind.
In the shadows, Alex's smile would reappear, a fleeting glimmer of hope in a life forever shrouded in darkness.
One afternoon, Jackson got back from collecting some ammunitions that Kia sent him to collect, he meet Alex just alone, lost in thoughts, so he joined him.
“What's going on dude?" Jackson asked.
Alex signed, “I miss her, Jackson. I miss Sunshine”.
“You're still hung up on that girl?, she's a distraction Alex, a weakness.”
Alex shakes his head “You don't understand, she's different, she makes me feel alive.
Jackson scoffs, “Alive?!, you're alive when you're taking care of business, when you're making money. Not when you're chasing after some naive little girl.
Alex looks down, his voice badly above a whisper, “I just wish I could see and talk to her again”.
Jackson in anger, slams his fist on the table. “Enough Alex! You're putting the gang at risk with your obsession. And what's worse, you're putting yourself at risk. Reed will kill her and then where will you be?”
Alex looks up, his eyes narrowing, “How did Reed find out about Sunshine anyway?”
Jackson paused, his expression faltering for a moment. “I... I don't know, he had his ways, you know he always does.”
Alex didn't say anything, and just watched his face, looking at him so deeply watching his expression as he doubted him. “You're hiding something from me Jackson, I can see it.”
His anger rose, “Shut Up Alex!!, you're just being paranoid, and this silly girl is getting deep into your head, you're not thinking properly”.
Jackson outburst only fuels Alex's suspicions and he couldn't shake off the feeling that he's hiding something.
