Fire Accident Victims

“What?” Daven gasped, frowning. “What does that mean? Tell me what is wrong with my father!” He demanded, and he was not even sure if the so-called system in his body could hear him. He held onto his father’s hand so tight, waiting for a diagnosis to pop up. But then… [Unfortunately, Daven King, you do not have enough points! Perform tasks to get points.] Those words threw him off guard and he wondered how he was able to see the doctor’s illness. Did he have points earlier? What was he doing wrong now? “Daven…” His father’s cracked voice flowed into his ears and he looked straight at his father with a worried gaze. “Are you okay? I am sorry, I failed to see you at the hospital. I had work…” He lied. “How do you feel?” He asked. “He has gotten worse since the last time he visited the hospital.” Arya’s voice resounded from behind. “I don’t know what else we could do.” Her scared tone irked Daven so much that he shook his head with a determined expression. “No way! Father is not going to die on my watch.” Daven declared. “How are you going to do that?” Arya sneered. “We have no money.” Those words cut deep into Daven’s heart but he couldn't tell his sister he might have another way. The sudden system in his body was his only hope now though he didn't even understand s**t about it. However, at the same time, the old radio at one end of the room was on with breaking news being delivered. THIS AFTERNOON, TEN ARE FEARED DEAD WITH OVER THIRTY VICTIMS FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES AT THE EAST MALL FIRE INCIDENT… The news was a sad one which caused everyone to sigh as there had been several fire breakouts in the neighborhood. But then the news prompted the system to come alive again. [Attention, Daven King, a new mission has arrived. Treat ten victims of the fire incident and earn 1000 points!] [You have one hour to complete this task! Every information you need is on level one of the medical system!] “Daven, are you even listening to me?” Arya’s shrill voice echoed in the small room, snapping Daven back to reality. “Arya…” Daven whispered, shooting up to his feet. “I will be back.” For a moment, he decided to not think of trying to understand the system. If truly the system was going to help him with his father’s sickness, he had to at least do something to prove that. Even when his sister called after him, he kept moving and soon he rushed out of the house, straight to the incident site. It was a gory sight to behold, with paramedics running around to treat the thirty victims. He looked closer to see that there were only a few paramedics attending to the victims. They were short-staffed. “This is my time…” Daven prepared himself for what was to come. He quickly took a medical overall lying around in the ambulance van and disguised himself, mixing with the paramedics. “Level one of the medical system…” Daven muttered, wondering how he was going to access the knowledge there. However, the system suddenly displayed a large screen before his eyes, detailing everything he had to do. There was no need for him to diagnose the victims because they all had visible severe burns on their bodies. “Oh God…” He whispered, in pity as he witnessed the degree of the burns on most of the victims. He had never been up close to such sights before and for a moment, he doubted his ability to carry out the task. “Why are you just standing there? Look out for the victims!” A paramedic from the side yelled at him, wondering why he was just standing around. “Yes…” Daven nodded quickly, hoping his disguise wouldn't be discovered. He closed his eyes to brace himself and when he opened his eyes again, he had a new resolve. He was going to see it to the end! He went through the level one information again, and it covered other things aside from burns. The information was basically simple first aid with a complex twist and with a smart brain, Daven was able to single out the information he needed. Daven got to work, with his first patient who had minor burns. He started by stopping the burns and cooling the affected area with a cooling pad and water before covering up the burn with a dry and clean dressing. However, the next patient was worse and Daven had a hard time treating the patient. He was no doctor, but as the seconds passed, his hands slowly got better and faster. His gaze sharpened and before long, he wheezed through ten patients with ease. “I did it…” He let out a breath of relief with sweat dripping down his face. He was so overwhelmed, in disbelief as well and he finally came to terms with the fact that the sudden system in his body was real. But then... “Hey, doctor! What did you do to me?” The first patient he treated rushed forward with a bewildered look. Immediately, a frown marred Daven’s face, wondering if he had done something wrong. “What’s wrong?” He asked. “I feel no pain… what…what did you use on me?” The patient gasped, wiggling the burned part of his body like he wasn't in pain a while ago. “Me too… I don’t feel any pain…” Another patient came up. And then another, down to the last patient Daven treated. Most of them had severe burns on their bodies and they were on the verge of death earlier but now, they stood before Daven, questioning him. “Wow…” Daven let out, surprised by the outcome of his action. But then, he didn't know whether he had done something good or he had created some kind of imbalance. Whatever the case was, Daven knew he needed to leave before they drown him in questions. On the other hand, the other paramedics noticed the commotion and they quickly gathered around with one of them feeling like Daven’s presence was odd. “You…” He pointed at Daven, stopping him from leaving. He then looked at the patients, in surprise. “Who are you? Were you sent as backup? We were just five earlier…”
