LORELEI’S POINT OF VIEW

Ever since I arrived here in our house, my mind is still on what happened in the school’s cafeteria. I can’t still move on with that, the angelic face Mitchell hides a demonic attitude in her, geez! What a trickster! By the way, I am already here inside my room waiting for Blaze to arrive, and honestly, I am kind of feeling nervous right now.

“Yeah, you should confess to him,” Ellis said on our group chat which everyone immediately agreed on. Geez! While I am waiting for Blaze, I decided to talk with them so they can help me with my decision.

“You didn’t know how difficult for me to confess my feelings to my best friend! Blaze has been my best friend ever since I was 9 years old and that friendship is on the stake here if ever I confess to him.” I said to them and they have immediately seen my message. I was about to reply to them again when Kara sent her message but I heard a knock on my door so I immediately put down my phone on my bed before heading towards my door.

“Hey! I’m sorry, I am late.” Blaze said as I opened my door for him.

“Ah, no, no, no, it’s fine! Did you already eat your dinner?” I asked him as I opened the door wider for him so he can enter my room.

“Yes, and also I finished my homework first before heading here so that’s why I am late.” He said as he sits down on my bed. I just closed my door first before heading towards my bed and sits beside him.

“So, what did you want to talk to me about?” Blaze asked me that breaks the silence between us because we have been quiet for a whole minute as we sit on my bed. I took a deep breath first before telling him everything.

“Ah, it was about what happened in the cafeteria earlier,” I said which made him looked at me with a mix of emotions on his face.

“Hmm, so what happened?” He asked me while looking at me straight into my eyes which kind of makes me feel uncomfortable so I decided to avoid his gazes by looking at my stuff toy on the shelf.

“Well, it was about Mitchell,” I said while still looking at my stuff toy.

“Hmm, so what happened? Did she hurt you?” He asked me which made me looked at him because he is overreacting, geez!

“No, no, she didn’t hurt me. She just talked to me about something earlier.” I said and then smiled at him with full of assurance that Mitchell didn’t hurt me, physically.

“I knew it, you are the one that has been the talk of the whole campus. You are the poor girl that everyone has been talking about because Mitchell picks a fight with you.” He said so I just nod at him before looking at my feet because I feel so embarrassed right now for an unknown reason.

“Why you didn’t tell me about this immediately? You know what, I feel like a fool right now, because I was there with you earlier and I wasn’t able to do anything to protect you.” He said and he sounds so frustrated so I decided to grabbed his hand and squeeze it gently. I didn’t have an idea that he will react this way and honestly, I didn’t know how to calm him down.

“Because I didn’t want you to worry about me, trust me, Blaze I am fine,” I said while rubbing his hand.

“But you should still tell me about it!” He said and then removed my hand from his which made me looked at him because the way he removed my hand feels like he is mad at me. Blaze stands up from my bed all of a sudden and then heads towards the corner of my room.

“I am so sorry Blaze, please don’t be mad at me,” I said and then stands up from my bed and head towards him. I heard that he let out a heavy sigh first before looking at me.

“I am not mad at you Lei, I am mad at myself because I wasn’t able to notice that you are the one that everyone has been talking about.” He said and then massage the temple of his head.

“You don’t need to be mad at yourself Blaze, I am fine! I told you to come here because I want to consult you about the next decision I should make.” I said which made him looked at me while still massaging the temple of his head.

“I am ready to listen, go on and tell me about it.” He said and then head back to my bed and sit on the edge of it. I followed him on my bed first before telling him everything. Earlier, while waiting for him to come here I decided that I will tell him all, including my hidden feelings which no longer will be hidden because I will be confessing it to him right now because I believe that he will be able to understand me more.

“Well, where do you want me to start first?” I asked him as I sit beside him and hug him on his waist while waiting for his answer. I was just looking at his frowning face while waiting for his response and honestly, I just realized now that he truly looks so pretty. Long lashes, pointed nose, rosy cheeks, thick eyebrows, and perfect curved lips. I only came back to my senses the moment he speaks so I cleared my throat first before answering his question.

“What truly happened in the cafeteria?” He asked me while he is holding my hands that are currently resting on his waist and honestly it brings happiness to me because right now I feel like we are a couple.

“Well, while you are buying our food and while I am sitting all by myself on our table, Mitchell came all of a sudden with four big scary girls with her,” I said and he immediately reacted violently so I immediately calm him down because of how hot-headed he is.

“Geez! You should have called me earlier! What if they hurt you? I don’t know what will I do to them if ever I will find you at our table with bruises.” He said which made me smiled because he is so overprotective to me as if I am his girlfriend.

“Shh! Will you listen to me first?” I told him and put my finger on his mouth to shut him down.

“Fine, fine. You can continue now.” He said while he is still frowning which made me giggle because he is sulking right now and he is so cute! Geez! Lorelei, will you stop that first and be serious?

“Okay, so continuation. While I am waiting for you Mitchell arrived in the cafeteria and she talked to me over some stuff in which you are involved.” I paused for a while first to see his reaction and it looks like he is restraining his self to react again so I continue on speaking.

“And that stuff is about her feelings for you. Mitchell was so mad at me earlier because she thought that I am your girlfriend, so I immediately told her that I am your best friend and thank goodness she believed in me” I said and then looked at him again and Blaze just nods at me telling me to continue.

“So, when I told her that I am just your best friend she told me that I should help her to get closer to you and she also gave me her phone number so I can tell her all the things you like,” I said and then he raised his index finger telling me that he is ready to speak so I remained quiet and waited for him to speak.

“Okay, so I am expecting the reason why you called me here is you want me to help you with this matter?” Blaze asked me so I just nod at him and then I heard him let out a heavy sigh before speaking.

“You didn’t want to push me towards her because you knew I didn’t like her right?” He asked me again so I just nod at him before answering him.

“Yeah, and I didn’t want you to get mad at me because of that. I also think that if I ever do that, it was like I was removing your freedom to choose who you are going to love.” I said and then smiled at him.

“Thank you, Lei, thank you for knowing me so well, and thank you for telling me this before making your step.” He said and then grabbed my hand before squeezing it gently.

“I am your best friend Blaze, and I guess you have the right to know about this before I make my decision, and besides I know that you can help me on deciding,” I said and then squeeze his hand. I heard that Blaze took a deep breath first before looking straight into my eyes which made me gulped because this is the very first time I saw him as serious as this and honestly this is so nerve-wracking!

“Do you remember what I told you earlier?” He asked me which made me frowned.

“You told me a lot of things earlier, which one is it?” I asked him without cutting our eyes connection.

“Hmm, about the girl I like.” He said which made my eyes widen because I never thought he will tell me about this as early as this and besides I am not ready to get brokenhearted at this moment!

“Hmm, what about it? Are you going to tell me who’s that girl is?” I asked him and then he just nods at me while smiling. Oh my goodness gracious! I am not yet ready to know about this! I am not yet ready to let him go! I took a deep breath first before asking him the question which answer can hurt me so much.

“Who is it? Come on tell me!” I said while I am trying to hide the nervousness I am feeling right now.

“Please, promise me that after I tell you who is the girl I like, please promise me that our friendship will remain the same.” He said so I just nod at him while smiling at him with full of assurance.

“Our friendship will never change Blaze, trust me,” I said and then squeeze his hand again to give him more assurance that everything will be fine between us after this confession even though I, myself won’t be fine after hearing the girl’s name.

“Okay, you promised me huh? Our friendship will remain the same!” He said so I just nod at him again while waiting for him to tell me who is the girl he likes.

“I like you, Lorelei Campbell.” He said while his eyes were closed so tight and while his face was burning as red as tomatoes after telling me that he likes me. Told me that he likes me, wait, what?! Blaze likes me?! Did he just told me he likes me? Did he just tell me that he likes Lorelei Campbell? Wait, wait, wait!

“Hey, aren’t you going to tell anything?” He asked me while waving his hand in front of my face. I didn’t know that I was already spacing out after he told me he likes me. Or did I heard it right? He truly likes me?!

“Wait, did I heard it right you like me?” I asked him and then he just nods at me while looking at him.

“That is also the reason why I cannot tell you about the girl I like because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. This is also the reason why I didn’t like Mitchell because I already have someone here in my heart and that is you, Lorelei, I like you so much!” He said and then looked at my eyes again. I didn’t know what should I say or how should I react but the next thing that happened is that I am already hugging him so tight.

“This may sound cliché but, I feel the same way Blaze, I didn’t know when did this feeling of mine started but all I know is that I like you so much Blaze, this is also the reason why I didn’t want to help Mitchell and why I feel so annoyed earlier because you are blabbering about her ever since you went into my room,” I said while I am hugging him so tight, I felt that his arms started to wrap around my body which kind of brings electricity all throughout my body.

“You didn’t know how worried I am to you earlier while we are eating our lunch. I am so scared because I thought you are mad at me or you are feeling something wrong. I am so sorry Lei for not protecting you earlier, I promised that starting from this day until the day we die I will protect you with all of my might.” He said which made me smiled ear-to-ear because of how heart-melting his words are. We just stayed like that for a moment without opening our mouths instead we let our hearts speak for us. After that, we decided to watch our favorite movies while our hands are intertwined.

“Oh, I almost forgot, about what you should do to Mitchell, just don’t mind her okay?” He said which made me looked at him.

“Okay, I know you will protect me,” I said and then hugged him again while my head is resting on his shoulder.

“Yeah, I will protect you, Lei. By the way, I will also ask my teacher on Monday if I can still move into your section so I can protect you the whole day while we are in school.” He said

“But our classes have been going for a month now, do you think they will still let you transfer into my section?” I asked him while my arms were wrapped around his waist.

“I don’t know, but I will try. You know, I won’t ever feel comfortable in my room knowing that your safety is in danger, I wanted to be with you all the time especially when we are inside the campus.” He said and then looked at me before kissing my forehead.

“You are so sweet and protective Blaze, but I promised you I will take care of myself okay? You don’t need to worry so much about me.” I said but he just shakes his head at me.

“I just talked to one of my friends and he told me that Mitchell’s family is connected to the most powerful mafia in our place and my friend also told me that the girls you met earlier are the daughters of the mafia boss.” He said which made me gulped because I have no idea that those girls are not just scary in their appearances but also their whole being is scary.

“Geez! I never thought that they are not just scary in their appearances but also their whole being. Aren’t you scared of them?” I asked Blaze because I am sure that once Mitchell knows about our relationship she will surely make our life like a living hell and I didn’t want Blaze to experience that.

“I am scared but what’s scarier is that I won’t be able to tell you my feelings and watch you love another man.” He said which made me smiled because despite the serious situation we are facing he is still able to lift up the mood.

“Don’t worry Lei, I also have a friend that is connected to a mafia and he told me that he already asked for protection for us. He already sent our pictures to them, including the picture of Mitchell and he told me that they will immediately send people who are going to protect us from Mitchell’s people.” He said which made me looked at him because he already take care of this stuff.

“Wow! I never thought that you also have that kind of connection.” I said and then he just smiled at me before pulling me towards him.

“Well, I just want to keep you safe Lei. I didn’t know what I will do if ever I see you with bruises. I won’t ever forgive myself if ever that happens to you because I am aware that I am the reason why your safety is in danger right now.” He said while I am inside his arms.

“Blaze, I forgot to ask you about this earlier, but since we already knew that we like each other, can I know what our status is now?” I asked him while my face is buried on his chest.

“Hmm, now that you ask about that, would you mind if I will ask you to date me?” He asked me which made my face burn and my heart thump so much because of the happiness that I am feeling right now.

“No, I wouldn’t mind,” I said and then looked at him while I am hugging him so tight.

“I love you Lei, but this time not as your childhood friend nor as your best friend but I am telling you this as your other half.” He said which made me smiled because I didn’t know that he can as sweet as this.

“I love you too Blaze,” I said and then buried my face again on his chest because I am so shy to look at him right now. I never thought that my problem earlier is going to lead me to this happiness. Should I thank Mitchell for this? Because finally! After hiding this feeling of mine from Blaze for years now, finally, I was able to confess it to him and what’s more to this is Blaze is feeling the same way I do!
