Amelia couldn't move.
The stranger's words echoed in her mind.
The contract was never meant to protect you. It was meant to trap you.
Alexander stepped forward.
“Enough.”
The stranger smiled.
“You still think you're in control.”
“Who sent you?” Alexander demanded.
The man ignored him and looked at Amelia.
“You should read the final page of your contract.”
Amelia's heart began to race.
“The final page?”
Alexander's expression changed.
“Don't listen to him.”
“Why?” Amelia asked. “What is on that page?”

That silence told her everything.
Amelia turned toward him.
“You knew?”
“I knew there was something unusual about the contract,” Alexander admitted. “But I didn't know the full truth.”
