CHAPTER NINE - LUCIAN AND MANDY

1379 Words
PARKER I peeked out from behind the tent door where Mandy had her final dressing and staging. It was a structure that had been put up for just the occasion, right outside the venue where we had all changed into our wolves for the first time. The wedding would take place about a half mile from the gazebo where most of us entered the woods after transforming; it was safer to be near the packhouse. The four of us, me, Charlotte, Mandy and her mother had been here since 10:15, all ready to go. We had driven out here so that Mandy wouldn’t dirty her train. The wedding guests had started to arrive about 10:30. Charlotte had decorated everything beautifully along with Luna, Beta Shelly and Gamma Lillian. Mandy, her mom and I had focused more on the guests although I did help with designs. And everything was a winter wonderland with snowflakes, fake blue ice and fake cotton snow on the ground. I was cold, even in my suit. I felt a chill and it made me think of Axel. I saw him at the entrance of the grooms tent. They were preparing to come out with Lucian in a little bit. It was a big thing for a Gamma, Beta and Alpha to get married so there were nearly a hundred people from outside our pack already sitting. Other alphas and Mandy’s and Lucian’s family from other packs were invited. The rest were close family friends of theirs and family from our own pack. Their wedding was small compared to what our wedding would be but that’s what they wanted. Axel caught sight of me and smiled. Why did he always make me blush? Andrew peeked his head out and gave me a toothy grin. Aaron’s head popped out too and he gave me a funny face. I just shook my head and silently laughed. I went back inside when the music began. That was the cue for the other mates in the room to leave. They gave Mandy a hug as they left. I could see the ceremony from the opening in the front of the tent. “What’s happening?” asked Mandy nervously. I gave her the play by play. “Luna and Alpha are walking down the aisle now,” I said. “The Betas are walking down now. Lucian and his parents are walking down now.” Mandy sighed nervously. “It’s time for me to go. Just remember, even if you were just at a courthouse, Lucian loves you. He’d marry you in a cave.” I hugged her. “Thanks babe,” she said, warmly. “Love you boo,” I said. “Love you too.” I left the tent and Mandy’s mother was walking down the aisle. Her father went into the tent with her. My Alphas were all smiling brightly at me. They were closer to my tent now. Aaron took my left arm and Axel took my right. Andrew stood behind me. We walked down the aisle together and I saw Lucian. He was sweating. Sweating! How were they so nervous? It’s not like Mandy would ever say no. We walked down the aisle and everyone was staring at me. It was surreal. I had to do this for real in a few months. I let go of my alphas and they went to stand by Lucian. I stood alone on the other side. Then Allen and Charlotte and Derek came down the aisle. I was surprised that Derek walked with them. I’m sure it was Charlotte’s idea. Charlotte stood with me and she was buzzing with excitement. Then the bridal music came on. There she was, coming out of the tent. She was sparkling in her dress. Her father took her arm and she breathed out then took a step forward. Like any other bride she was nervous but smiling. But Lucian. Lucian was doing something I thought I’d never see him do. He was crying. Axel grabbed his shoulder but Lucian was stiff, tears rolling down his face. Axel finally shook him when Mandy got to the end of the aisle. Lucian wiped his face. Mandy’s father kissed her on the cheek and walked her up to the stage. After he gave her away, they exchanged beautiful vows. Lucian even talked about how happy he was that she would be mother to his child. They were both so sweet and crying. Was this how my vows would be? “I now pronounce you husband and wife!” the officiant said. They kissed and everyone cheered and stood. They ran to the car while we all threw bird seed at them. They were taken away to the packhouse and the party began. My Alphas walked me back toward the packhouse along with the rest of the guests. Once we were near the gazebo, we took pictures . All of us were hungry after 30 minutes of that but I couldn’t eat. Charlotte and I were trying to make this party happen. First there was- “Baby, you’re sitting down to eat today,” Aaron said. “I’m the coordinator,” I replied in a huff. “I have to coordinate stuff?” “Charlotte and Beta Shelly can do that. They’re the Betas after all. You’re the man of honor. You should be sitting at the table with us, supporting Mandy, giving speeches, dancing.” “This is really about me eating, isn’t it?” I asked. “Yes, it is, but all that other stuff is true too. Nonnegotiable, come sit with us." Aaron took my hand and looked into my eyes. My other Alphas were standing a little bit away pretending not to be listening. I knew this was an idea all of them had. I followed them over to the table. “I assume you spoke to Charlotte about this already?” I asked. “Yes, and she agreed her Luna's health is more important than anything,” Aaron said. I rolled my eyes but I was smiling. It felt good to have everyone care so much about me. I sat next to my Alphas at the head wedding table while Lucian and Mandy sat beside us. Derek and Allen sat on the other side. The couple looked so happy. Aaron kept trying to get me to eat but I was still looking around and planning things with Charlotte. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the meal though. Aaron and Andrew kept giving me stern looks so I took a few bites here and there. Axel seemed to be preoccupied with Derek and Allen. When dessert came though, I dug in. We got up and I snacked on everything that reminded me of my Alphas. Then the dancing began and the rest of the night was amazing. Aaron finally took a breath when he realized I was ok. I kissed my Alphas on the dance floor and I knew our wedding would be just as wonderful. - - PARKER I woke up to the sound of Axel getting dressed. I saw him out of the corner of my hazy eyes. He must’ve already had his shower. But why so early? We had gone to bed as soon as we had gotten back last night because all of us were exhausted but we hadn’t really talked about the pack business he was going to tell us about. “Axel?” I said. “My love,” he came over and smiled at me. Aaron stirred and Andrew just continued to hold me and snore. “Where are you going?” “It’s the pack business we talked about yesterday. Gotta get an early start on it.” “But we didn’t talk about it.” “I know, but when I get back, we will. Promise.” He kissed me softly but I didn’t feel right about this. Something was wrong. “Ok, …um, be careful,” I said. He just nodded and sighed. He knew I could feel the anxiety coming off him. With the shut of the door I turned over so I could snuggle with Aaron too but I needed to pee instead. No. I felt sick. Was this food poisoning again?
