It was 7:30 on Monday morning, she stretched out her hand to get the alarm clock, gently switched off the alarm clock before replacing it on the bed.
She sluggishly got up from the bed to rush through her morning business and make breakfast before running off to school.
After classes, Precious headed straight to the diner, where she works. she has been working here for a year.
It has become a daily routine to wake, do house chores quickly, rush to school, go to the diner from school before going home at night.
The diner where Precious works daily, apart from Sunday is a small and cozy but usually busy. Today was no exception.
She got to work as usual not knowing that she will have an encounter with someone, that will change her life and design her future.
As usual, her hair was tied in a ponytail, she had no makeup and she is casually dressed. There is nothing fancy about her dressing, yet in her innocence, her beauty is undeniable.
She went about her normal duty even as she feels the eyes following her around. She had noticed, the most gorgeous man she had ever come across, walk into the diner few minutes after she resumed her duty.
The first time she noticed him at the door, he smirked as their eyes met, making some strange butterfly-like feeling to erupt within her, she quickly averted her eyes as she tried to concentrate on her work.
Richard took a table at the back of the diner where it will be easier to watch everything happening in the diner. He watched Precious as she elegantly attend to customers. He could smell the lovely scent coming from her, it makes him feel calm and relaxed as he feeds his eyes the image of his sweet mate.
One of the waitresses approached him with a smile on her face and a mini menu on her hand.
"Sir, what may I offer you" she asked presenting the menu.
"If you don't mind, I want to be served by her" he said pointing towards Precious
The waitress mumbled something, as she walked away.
"The hot dude at the back would prefer you to serve him" the waitress mumbled and hissed as she passed by Precious, who is placing some order on another table
"Me?" she asked surprised but the other girl has already moved on
After attending to the table, she moved over to Richard who was busy staring unashamedly at her. she suddenly felt nervous, with her heart beating abnormally.
She has encountered so many cute and handsome guys both in school and at the diner but none has ever made her feel this way. She suddenly felt conscious of her looks.
"Don't you know it's bad manners to stare" she spoke as soon as she got to his table,regaing some confidence
"It depends on who is staring and to whom it is directed to" he smirked as he adjust himself comfortably.
"what may I get you?" She asked trying to ignore the effects his presence has on her.
"You" he replied simply with a charming smile that got her confused for ten seconds before she regained her composure.
"Please sir, I don't to sound rude but I have other customers to attend to, I don't have time for jokes. if you don't mind" she turned to walk away but felt him hold one of her arm. she turned abruptly
"what the..."
"By the way, my name is Richard churchill, the new owner of this diner" he interupted her smiling
"leave my hand" Precious gritted through her teeth, ignoring his claim. She tried to wrestle her hand free from his grip but his grip was firm, even while he seemed not to put in any effort.
She look around to see some diners looking their direction. she doesn't want to draw attention to them so she relaxed and spoke with fake gentleness
"Please leave my hand and tell me what you want. you are attracting undue attention to us and distracting other customers that are here to have a peaceful meal"
"I just want to talk with you." he let go of her hand but somehow she missed his hand on hers. Wondering what is wrong with her, she turned to leave but was stopped by his voice
"please..." he sounded unsure, yet his voice pricked directly at Precious' hear.
Normally, Precious dosen't mingle with male customers or any male staff she likes keeping business and personal life apart. But before she could give it a thought, she opened her mouth and said the first thing she could think of.
"come back after work, I am busy now"
"it's a date" Richard smirked, bringing her back to her sense. she frowned as she went back to her duty
"What is wrong with this guy" she muttered to herself and shook her head. Even as she think of how handsome he actually look.
When she was less busy, she walked into the kitchen area to have some break but she unintentionally drifted into deep thoughts about the guy was still sitting at the back of the dinner, observing everything and everyone while concentrating mostly on her
She has never come across any man as perfectly built as he is nothing short of a Greek god personified. The only problem is that is so arrogant. What's it with him and smirks? Truth be told, he looks hot doing that and...
"Earth to Precious and Precious to earth" she heard her colleague, Ria's voice. Ria is a colleague who also a student in her college. They often go to work together after school making them friends at work.
"I'm sorry please, what were you saying?"
Precious ask, turning face Ria who smiling mischievously while leaning at the kitchen counter.
"Why are you smiling like that? what is going on? Precious ask surprised
"I should be asking you that. What is it with you and the new boss?
"New boss? what of our boss Bray? did he sell the place?" Precious whisper yelled at her friend, totally ignoring her accusing tone
"didn't you get the e-mail this morning? Ria said, pointing at the phone in Precious' pocket
Precious quickly brought out her phone and log in to her email. The message was there informing them of the change of ownership.
"Bray didn't even say goodbye" Precious pouted
"I was also surprised. I just hope the handsome new boss will not decide to get new staffing" Ria said worriedly
"I hope so too. well, let's get back to work before we give him reason to do that" Precious said, hurrying back to work
