ANNALISE POV
A few days have gone by, and all of them have been spent observing the skill level of the pack warriors. There's a lot of work to be done. Emma has been enjoying her mates company, and they've already marked and mated. I'm happy for her. She and Rick are perfect for one another. Alan has followed me around almost everywhere I've gone. The only place I don't see him is the bathroom and my room. I've been avoiding my mate as much as possible.
So far, this morning had been quiet. It's the first time since arriving here that I've gotten to eat in peace. A figure standing in front of me catches my attention, and I look up. There's a pretty red head standing right in front of me. She sits down with her food and flashes me a smile. It seems fake, but I'll leave it for now. I look back down at my food, ignoring the woman across from me.
"I'm Jill." I look back up at her as she stared at me intensely.
"Annalise." Hopefully, one word answers will make it clear I want to be left alone.
"I know. I hear you're Alpha Dean's sister?"
"Yep." I move to finish eating quickly so I can go stratch before training.
"You know we don't normally train in the rain." I look back up at her. She still has yet to touch her food.
"I doubt rogues or an enemy pack will care about the rain." So it's been rainy today. A little water never killed anyone in training.
"I guess I'll have to talk to Scott then." Her familiarity with my mate annoys me. They must be close for her to call him by his name rather than title. "I am his future luna after all."
"Do as you will, excuse me." I stand up and leave to go out to the training grounds.
His future luna, at least I know the other party that caused my pain for the last two years. Slowly, people start filling the training grounds, stretching and warming up. The rain begins to fall harder. I tell them to partner up and practice sparring. Alan, Emma, and the rest of my pack walk around watching the groups, helping where they see the need for it. I've been standing at the front watching with my arms folded. We're all soaking wet from the rain. I begin to feel the familiar burning from my mates disregard for the mate bond. I think it hurts more now that we've actually met, and he feels the bond and knowingly ignores it.
A man approaches me as I stare unimpressed at the sparring going on in front of me.
"Excuse me." He stops in front of me getting my attention.
"What is it?"
"Well, Miss Annalise, it's raining quite hard. We don't normally train in the rain." I finally look at him.
"Well, now you do." He gets visibly upset and begins to make a scene. My pack members slowly start to fall in line behind me as the Black Rock Pack begins to crowd around us to see what's going on.
"No! Alpha Scott doesn't make us train in the rain, and neither will you." He says as he steps up to me. We're only a few inches apart.
"Your enemy won't care if it's raining. Rogues live in the rain. Do you think they care if they have to fight in it? No, they don't, only spoiled indoor wolves do." I spit out at him. My head snaps to the right as he lands a punch to my jaw. Alan steps forward to fight him when I raise my hand, telling him to stop. "If you want to spar with me, so be it. If I win you train without bitching about the weather, you win and you don't have to train in the rain." He nods, and everyone backs up to give us some space. "This is not to the death. Only until one of us taps out or submits to the other. Human or wolf form allowed." Alan and Emma step forward.
"The rules have been stated! When we step out of the circle and announce "go" the fight is to begin!" Emma announces. The two step away from us.
"Go!" Shouts Alan.
The man and I circle one another, he's angry and cocky. A bad combination, mistakes are made in that mindset. He swings at me and I dodge only to hit him in the side. He growls in frustration, another swing and miss on his side and he loses control of his wolf. He shifts, he's a decent sized grey wolf, but I can still take him in my human form. He jumps in hope of landing on top of me. I slide under him and grab some of his fur and use the momentum to swing myself onto his back. I get my arms around his neck and begin to squeeze. As he starts to weaken I reach for his snout and pull it towards his shoulder causing him to fall on his side. I get up, waiting to see what he will do. When he doesn't get back up and bends his neck to me in a sign of submission I nod. He shifts back and puts on a pair of shorts.
The sudden appearance of the alpha aura causes all of us to look at a very angry alpha stroming towards the training grounds. My pack moves behind me, Rick stands to the side, and everyone else stands in submission to their alpha.
SCOTT POV
Since the arrival of the Crimson Pack the technique of my warriors has improved. Annalise has avoided me, but wherever I see her I see that annoying wolf Alan close by. Jill has made her advances but I've done well at either ignoring them or avoiding her all together.
I've been watching the trains sessions from the window in my office. The Crimson Pack is impressive. It's been raining all morning and has begun to fall harder as the day has gone on. Looking out my window I'm surprised to see everyone sparring. Without searching too much I find my mate standing at the front observing everyone, arms crossed, hair sticking to her shoulder as it's soaked from the rain. Her long black leggings hugged her legs and show her shape, her black sports bra hugging her perfect breasts, leaving her stomach exposed where the outline of her abs can be seen.
Someone entering my office breaks my focus on the scene outside. I turn to find Jill standing there in nothing but lace lingerie and a coat to cover herself as she walks through the halls. Before I could react she covers my mouth with hers as her hands run over my body. It takes me a minute to get her off of me and I order her out. I return to my window and find my top warrior Chase toe to toe with my mate, the exchange seems heated. I watch as everyone around them spreads out and they begin to fight. I was impressed that my mate could take down my top warrior without ever shifting, but also upset because she embarrassed him.
I rush out to the training grounds and watch as all of the members on her pack move behind her in a defensive position, my members move to a submissive position, and Rick stands apart from both groups. I understand, his mate is loyal to her pack and my mate until her joining ceremony, and Rick is loyal to his pack and his mate. I stand in front if my mate, breathing heavily while she looks disinterested.
"Everyone leave now!" I yell, using an alpha command. All my members leave except for Rick. My mate nods her head, and all if those behind her slowly leave the area. I begin pacing in front of her in the pouring rain. "What the hell?!"
"What?" She asks while crossing her arms, completely unphased by the rain and my anger.
"Why were you fighting my top warrior?" I get in her face.
"He wanted to end training because it was raining. We made a deal, I won and training continued, he won and training would end." She shrugs.
"My office now." I grit out between clenched teeth. She rolls her eyes and walks around me to my office.
I walk behind her to my office trying not to get distracted by the way her ass looks as she walks up the stairs in those leggings. When I open my door so she can walk in, she goes straight to the window that takes up the whole wall and stares as the rain falls.
"You embarrassed him. Mate or not, you will not embarrass or disrespect my top warrior." She turns to look at me with a look of disbelief on her face.
"Do you think an enemy or a rogue would care that it's raining? That he's your top warrior? No they wouldn't." She steps closer and points her finger into my chest. "Your men are not indestructible, there will always be someone bigger, stronger, faster. The sooner you and your pack learn that, the better fighters you will be. I'm not here to cater to your feelings or theirs, I'm here to work, to make sure that this pack can defend itself should they ever be attacked." Stunned isn't good enough to explain how I felt. She walks right passed me bumping my shoulder on her way.
