SCOTT POV
I've spent the last two years since I turned eighteen, hoping to find my mate. My parents had decided to pass the alpha title to me when I turned eighteen. It's become quite common since The Crimson Packs' previous alpha passed his title to his son when he turned eighteen. Doing everything without a luna has been hard.
I've been very busy trying to prepare for Alpha Dean's arrival and that of his spy. He should be here sometime later today, but his spy has yet to show up. There was a knock at my door, and the person on the other side came in without waiting for my answer. I look up to see Jill. She's wearing almost nothing. I lean back to watch her sexy body move towards me.
"Alpha, don't you think you deserve a break?" She asks seductively as she leans over, showing me her cleavage. "You've been working nonstop for the last few days. Let me help you relieve some stress."
Before I could answer, she began to kiss me as she straddled me in my chair, I began to harden as she rubbed herself on my growing member. As I began to reciprocate her advances, I felt Blair trying to mind link me, I block her attempt since she very rarely has anything important to say. I couldn't help the nagging feeling that something was wrong. After about twenty minutes, I started getting a mind link from Rick. I drop my block while I continue pleasuring the she wolf in my office.
"What?" I snap.
"You really decided to speak to me while you're getting it on with who knows what she wolf now." I know he would be able to tell what I was doing. I just smirk as I continue to pound into Jill on my desk top.
"You only mind link me if it's important, so yeah." I hear his exasperated sigh before he speaks again.
"There was an attack. Blair was attacked but saved by someone claiming to be from the Crimson Pack. Your sister has reused her to let us take them to the cells with the remaining rogue." I stop instantly and pull out of Jill.
"What's wrong, Alpha?" She asks as she sits up.
"Get out." She just stares at me. "Now!" She grabs her clothes and rushes out. I mind link Rick back.
"Leave the spy be. Alpha Dean will be here later. He can confirm if it's his spy or not."
I have been pacing for the last two hours, trying to come up with a way to apologize to my sister for ignoring her. Rick mindlinking to me let me know that Alpha Dean is here breaks me out of my thoughts. I move to sit behind my desk and wait for him to enter my office. As time goes by, I start to smell a strong scent of pineapple and the ocean air. My wolf starts chanting "mate" in my head.
My door opens, and in walks Rick, a few of Alpha Dean's men, Alpha Dean, and the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I remember seeing her at the ball held years ago. I can't help but stare at her as she stares blankly ahead, without acknowledging me. She's my mate, why is she ignoring me?
"Alpha Scott, it's nice to meet you again after all this time." Alpha Dean says, causing my focus on his sister to break and move towards him. "These are some of my best warriors and spies. They will be the ones to stay and help with training your pack. I have a few more downstairs that will be staying as well to help. My sister Annalise will be in charge of them and the training while they are here." I move my gaze back to her as she finally looks at me and nods.
"No offense, Alpha, but why would your sister be leading the training for my men?" I ask. She doesn't look like she could defend herself, let alone lead training. I notice the change in her body language.
"Alpha Scott, Anna is my top spy and warrior. She saved your sister from four rogues just over two hours ago. She leads, or my men, my sister, and I will leave you to train your own pack." His tone leaves no room for argument. I nod and turn my gaze upon my mate once again.
"I would like to speak with your sister for a moment. I need a report on what exactly happened earlier this afternoon." He nods. Everyone leaves my office except my mate. Her stance and gaze never changed.
I move in front of her and lean back against my desk, and cross my arms. She still stares straight ahead.
"Alpha Scott, I believe you have a traitor in your pack." She still doesn't look at me. It's beginning to piss my wolf and I off.
"Why?" My tone harsher than it should be.
"I followed the group of rogues for days. Before they attacked Blair, one of them mentioned that someone they had on the inside was distracting whomever she was meeting, and that they had made sure there would be no patrol where they crossed the border. The one that seemed to know the most, I left alive. Your men took him to the cells." She still stares straight. She's a well trained warrior. I'll give her that. To manage her duty and report without succumbing to the mate bond. I move towards her and begin to walk around her and look her from head to toe. "Alpha, if that all, I will go meet my fellow pack members and say goodbye to my brother." I step in front of her.
"Do you not feel it?" I ask, confused. She finally looks at me, but she still shows no emotion.
"Feel what?"
"The mate bond." I say as if it's the most obvious thing.
"I have felt the mate bond for the last two years. I have felt every time you decided to screw someone. I have not given into the mate bond and the pain that has come with it for two years, and I don't intend to do so now. I am here to work, not be your bed warmer until you wish for someone else."
Before I could say anything, she turned and walked out of my office, leaving me stunned. She must have been eighteen when we met. Why didn't she say anything? I being to move down the stairs to where the rest of the Crimson Pack is waiting, when I hear her snd her brother talking. Curiosity gets the better of me, and I hide so I can listen.
"Why do you hate me, Dean?" Her tone is slightly angry and desperate. He just laughs a little.
"Oh my dear sister, I could never hate you. You need the best to help train this pack."
"And Alan has to be here?"
"I know you have your differences, but he's good at what he does. You don't have to like that he is here, but he will be very helpful to you. You know he'd do anything you ask of him." My anger begins to rise. Why would he do whatever my mate asks? Who is he to her? "Emmaline is here too. She won't leave your side, you know that." He pulls her into a hug.
"Bringing my best friend still doesn't pardon bringing him." She hugs him back.
"I will see you in a month, Anna. Please keep me updated, and stay safe." She just nods and follows her brother down the stairs.
I follow a shirt distance behind and see her walk over to a girl with long strawberry blonde hair, wearing all black like the rest of the group she's with. The two embrace, and a man approaching them breaks the two apart as Anna turns to face the man. She doesn't say anything to him, just nods and walks away with the other girl following her. The man turns, and I see the blonde man that I saw dancing with her that night watching her walk away with lust and desire in his eyes.
ANNALISE POV
The while time I was in his office, it was hard but easy at the same time to ignore him. His intoxicating scent and breathtaking good looks. He looks even better than he did two years ago. He seemed shocked when I told him that for the last two years, I've felt everything.
When I got to my brother and saw Alan, I just about lost it. Dean pulled me aside and tried to placate my anger. I was aware of my mates presence as he listened to our conversation. I chose to ignore him. Going down the stairs, I see my best friend as rush to her. Alan shows up behind me. I know how he watches me, and I hate it.
As I stand next to my brother and best friend, I look up to the top of the stairs to see Scott standing there. His impressive presence demands attention and respect, I watch him as he stares at Alan. I can't help but want him, but I also can't help but think of the pain I've felt for the last few years. His beta Rick moves to his side, and I watch as his gaze lands on Emmaline and hear her breath hitch. He moves down the stairs to her. As they stand there, they both whisper "mate" at the same time. Of course, her mate.
