Chapter 1
Chloe's POV
“I can't believe it!”
I stared at the email from my computer screen, eyes wide open. I really couldn't believe that I got the offer. I thought it was fake and just decided to give it a try, but now my employment email was what I stared at from my computer screen.
“Yes, finally!” I screamed, fisting my hands. I finally got what I wanted. I finally had the opportunity I waited for all this while.
I read the email again, my heart drumming hard. I could literally feel my hands shake and laughter trying to leave my lips.
“Yes!” I read through the email again, and I noticed the details for the meeting.
“TOMORROW!” I screamed. I needed to get ready. I needed to present myself well enough to stand out.
That night, I was unable to sleep, wondering which star hockey player I was to be training. I hoped it would go well.

I snapped my eyes open, gazing at the alarm clock on the counter, my stomach dropped.
“s**t!” I groaned. My alarm didn't go off. I threw my legs out of bed and rushed to get some things ready, my heart drumming.
I dashed into the bathroom and took a quick shower before heading out to choose the right outfit.
I pulled out a pair of jeans, a nice pink top, and white sneakers alongside a white ball cap.
“Perfect!” I added a whiff of perfume before I dashed out of the house, hailing a cab.
I arrived at the venue about thirty minutes later, and I rushed towards the massive golden gates.
“Excuse me ma'am, do you have an appointment?”
I was breathing hard, but I managed to nod my head, pressing my lips with my right hand fixed on my chest.
“Yes, I have an appointment.” I pulled out my phone and handed it to him, hoping he would let me get in.
His eyes scanned the letter for a while, going back and forth towards me and the phone in his hands before finally handing it over to me.
“Come in.”
He gestured for me to follow him then he took me inside the compound.
There was a beautiful water fountain around the interlocked floors and a grand mansion at the center of the compound.
We walked towards the grand doors, and I was handed over to a butler who didn't seem happy to see me.
“You must be Miss Chloe, right this way.”
His face was neutral, and he gestured to me with a small bow.
I followed him, my eyes taking note of the hockey art on the wall, until he opened the door to a room.
“She’s here.”
He announced my presence, causing two men to turn their heads towards me.
I froze in place, trying to stretch my lips into a small smile while my heart drummed.
I watched how their eyes raked my figure, wondering what they had in mind towards me.
“You must be Miss Chloe, the trainer selected to train Adrian.”
He pointed towards the man in the wheelchair with a white cast on his leg.
I stared at his legs for a while, my eyes traveling up until I met his face.
The moment I gazed at his face, for a while I was lost in thoughts.
“Why does he look so familiar?”
I blinked, trying to recall where I had seen the face from.
How could someone look so familiar? Maybe from the big screen? But I wasn't really a fan of hockey.
“Miss Chloe…”
I snapped back to reality, staring at him with the same warm smile from earlier.
“Yes, Mr.…” I dragged out the word until he filled the gap with his name.
“Mr. Logan.”
I nodded. “Mr. Logan. Got it.”
He hummed. “I'm Adrian's hockey coach, popularly known as the TT’s coach. Congratulations on being picked as his personal trainer.”
“Thank you so much. It's an honor.”
Logan nodded. “You'll be required to sign a work contract, and after that, you're free to engage in a conversation with Mr. Adrian.
I nodded, excited. This was my dream, to train someone like him.
“Alright, so when do I sign the contract?”
He smiled back. “Now, the contract is ready.” Logan walked over to the table and pulled open the drawer attached to the counter.
He pulled out a document and a pen, handing it over to me.
“There's something you need to know.” He started, causing me to pause on the signing.
“The injury is severe and you need to make certain sacrifices for the client. The contract says more.”
I nodded, and scanned the first page; the heading was enough.
“CONTRACT TRAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN MISS CHLOE AND MR. ADRIAN.”
I drew my signature where necessary and handed the document back to Logan, who smiled.
“Perfect. I'll leave you both to speak privately.”
He flashed another smile before finally exiting the room, leaving us alone.
The sound of the door closing welcomed an awkward silence between us, one that didn't last because I tried to strike a conversion with him.
“Hi, I'm—”
“Let me lay down the rules before you utter a word to me.”
I knitted my brows, confused. Wasn't he the one who was almost as harmless as a fly right now?
“First of all, no intruding on my personal space,” He paused, staring at me to see if I was actually following up.
“Secondly, no drooling over me like you're doing now.”
I shot back. “I'm not drooling!”
He scoffed. “You're breaking the third rule.”
My eyes squinted, and I bit the inside of my cheek. I judged first and judged wrong. I thought he was someone who was calm and nice, but he was just like those up there with selfish and stupid rules.
“You don't talk back when I'm talking.”
I raised one brow, and as if understanding my question, he nodded.
“You're also not allowed to… Over train me or leave the mansion without my permission.”
My eyes widened. “What? How am I supposed to go home then?”
He scoffed. “Home? Is your cramped apartment any better?”
I fisted my hands, breathing hard.
“Who the hell do you think you are? I'm here to do you a favor and not the other way around!”
He ignored me. “Some other rules are no recordings, and no selfies of the mansion. You're not allowed to touch anything and…” he sighed. “That's all for now.”
I clenched my teeth. He was so annoying, and the fact that he bossed me around…
A knock sounded on the door, interrupting my thought.
“How do you feel, Miss Chloe? Hope Mr. Adrian wasn't too much trouble.”
I force a smile. “Not at all, sir.”
