Chapter 6:Sunny

Flashback.

"Mummy," I look at my dearest mother laying on the cold marble floor in the kitchen.

My step-dad had gone out to drink booze again.My mother had been saving money for us to leave this apartment but my step- father ended up raiding her savings that she had kept hidden.He beat her to a pulp and left her laying on the floor again.This time he didn't spare her,the bruises on her face and the rest of the body is too much for her to bare.

She looks unrecognizable.

I hold on to my bunny on my left arm while I stroke her cheeks with my free hand.I don't know how to use a phone.I'm just 6 years old.

"My little Sunshine,I want you to run away as fast you can.I wish I could have protected you now, but your future will chase you sooner or later,"she rasps.

"Mummy, I can't leave you alone,"I whimper with snort on my face.

"Sunny ,"she looks at me with those beautiful green eyes I inherited from her.But,I did not inherit her black shiny hair.She always joked that if I met my real father we would be twins with our blonde hair.

"Sunny ,"

"Sunny!"

I quickly open my eyes to the sound of Autumn's annoying voice.She is my second alarm when I fail to get out of bed.I never complain because I'am already used to it.I can't stop her.

"Good morning!"She sing songs.

It's been two weeks since the incident at the Wendy's diner.Everything went back to normal.Well,that's what I thought.But,every time I close my eyes and sleep ,Lennox's gray eyes would just pop up in my brain like a disease that does not want to be cured.In conclusion,I will be done for if this continues.

"You look like you just had a horrible nightmare ,"Autumn observes me for awhile .

No,I have developed sudden insomnia and the only way I can sleep is by actually studying or listening to some weird podcasts I never remember.Something is wrong and it's not helping that the moment I get to wake up, the only thing that Autumn talks about is Lennox. She is always going on about how she will ambush him by using the same route he uses after classes. I don't even know how she takes her time after her classes to do that.She knows how his schedule is! What time his practice sessions are, his favourite place to eat and who he hangs out with ....

She is always finding a way to bump into him or just see him at any point.Everytime she says his name with that dreamy lock of hers,my face heats up and I feel my chest burning up.No matter how hard I try to avoid that feeling,it keeps on coming back.

"I don't think horrible and nightmare need to coexist in one sentence," I deadpan.

Autumn snickers like it's something really funny ,"You are always so mean to me!"

I'm glad to see things work out this way with Autumn.It's like a switch was flipped and she went back to her old self.

"Well,you told me that you are tutoring this second year.I wish I had your brains to do that but I can't ,"she sighs heavily ,"And I also want you to prepare yourself for the bonfire party this weekend! Most of the baseball players will be there and guess who will be there? "She squeals loudly.

"Lennox?"I mutter silently even though his name makes my heart jump in a very suspicious way.

"You are right and this time I want you to wear something-"

"I will be busy ,"I suddenly interrupt her.

I don't know why Autumn wants me to accompany her but I'm not going to a house party full of people I don't know.No matter how nice it is to socialize with the crowd.

"Sunny ,"She pauses and looks at me with a dumbfounded look ," it will be fine. Besides,you never go out and the only time you step out of this house is when you go to class or the library."

"Because I need something from there but that party will be at that sorority-"

"Some hockey players will be there and it will be splendid.You need someone to clean the mess that Noah left !"she interrupts me.

I rise up from my bed and look at the window.Autumn has her own room but for some reason ,she loves my room and never wants to leave.I'm scared of telling her that I don't want to see her favourite baseball captain and my villain ex who embarrassed and dumped me. Autumn won't give up if I continue refusing,so I will just gave her a a vague answer.

"I will think about it ,"I simply answer.

"I'm not satisfied with that ,"she complains," But it gives me hope."

I smile in response and head straight to the shower because I don't want to be late for my first appointment.I have to tutor this second year whose identity I don't really care about.He told me his name was peanuts and that was it.Not that I mind....

I wouldn't consider myself a genius but with all the hard work I put in highschool.My professor does consider me one in mathematics and statistics.I find myself tutoring even second years who struggle in minor courses that involve math.That is why Noah took advantage of me.

"Are you seriously wearing a cardigan again ?" Autumn eyes me up and down while she puts on make-up.

Today I'm just wearing a gray tank top,blue baggy jeans that cover the tips of my sneakers and a fluffy brown cardigan that reaches my hips.Autumn hates it,but I don't like wearing tight clothing that exposes my body.I'm not slender and I don't have that killer body from a magazine.

"Yes ,"I nod my head defiantly,"It's unbuttoned if you are having a heart attack and no,I don't think this mysterious guy will be my husband in the future."

"Fair enough,"she shrugs and goes back to her business,"Please be safe out there. "

I smile and hug Autumn before heading out to start my day.My classes don't start early today which is a good thing as long as my head doesn't drift back to the darkest places.

The peanut guy doesn't sleep at the guy's dormitory or a frat house.I would have lost my cool and died out of anxiety if that was a case but I'm standing in front of a house with a nice porch that does feel like a frat house.Maybe he is something-

My thoughts are interrupted when I hear two guys jeering and laughing really loudly.Their voices sound familiar which makes my stomach churn and my legs to go numb.Why do I feel so nervous? The door has even opened yet but I feel a sense of dread.

"I hope your tutor is a hot cheerleader-"

The moment the door opens,The blonde guy in front of me literally pauses with his mouth wide open.If this blonde guy is here then there is a high chance that someone I have been dreading to see is here or maybe I'm just thinking too much about it.

"Claude if you are going to scare my tutor ! I swear I will kill you !" His deep voice growls.The sound of his voice feels so smooth and tingly that I almost drop my books in my arms.

"No," Claude smirks while looking at me with a mischievous look,"It's another bundle of surprise."
