12. Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight She woke with a jolt. Dim light sifted through the open windows, saturating the inside of the hut with a weak, grey hue. Frost claimed the glass, blurring her view of the outside world. The fire was out, leaving the air chill. She was aware of a warm body heating her back, shoulders to toes. A heavy arm was thrown around her waist, securing her against him in sleep. She stayed there a moment, letting the feel of him locked so intimately against her sear into her mind. She needed to move, but she didn’t want to forget. Given his rejection of her last night, this chance would never come again. Eden shivered, feeling a draft of cold air blow into her face from between the floorboards.
