Chapter 3

As the girls reach home Mrs. Delia goes to open the door as she has been up all night barely able to get in some sleep. Behind her

Mrs.Loukas whose eyes as well sleep had disappeared. They see Ella unconscious and panic and Mrs. Delia calls out to Mr. Eugen to hurry up and come to the front door.

Frantically she asks the girls what happened? They say she fell dizzy and lost conscious not knowing what actually transpired. They thought she passed out due to over drinking.

As the girls take Ella up to bed Mrs. Delia looks worriedly at Mr. Eugen and Mrs.Loukas.

The girls settle Ella and Abagail gets ready to take her leave. Mrs. Delia comes down to see off Abagail and Thanks her.

She looks at Eugen, who says I think it has started and now our nightmare begins. She has had a few too many before but never passed out and she is sensible like that she knows when she is passed the limit she never takes another. Come down Delia let’s see what she says in the morning and then we can decide on the next step. Let me go and see Aero Sotiriou.

Eugen you sent Aero to watch over them?

Delia I did not have any option and you were madly worried. And Aero is a good Lad he has been with the system for long. He understands well enough what it takes to keep her safe and what is required and when. He is very well educated with the system.

Mr. Eugen grabs his coat and walks down to the stream that flows on the estate.

Down nearby the stream Aero awaits Mr. Eugen’s arrival. Aero a well-built guy, tall and very handsome with dark black – brownish hair and brown eyes.

As Mr. Eugen nears the stream Aero sees him and puts out the cigarette he was smoking.

Mr. Eugen greets Aero and gives him a hug. Aero has always admired Mr. Eugen for protecting Ella but now the time had arrived.

Aero please could you tell me what happened to Ella?

Mr. Eugen she was not all that drunk to loose conscious like that. I was watching as she was waiting for the car to be brought around and for a moment there was this confused or say shocked look on her face whereby she did not know how to react or what was happening but I can say something for sure, in that split moment, I do know she saw something that made her lose consciousness.

Do you think she is like my Grandmother Bethany rather than Carissa?

Aero I can’t tell coz every woman in this family who turns 21 is able to attain a special gift and it only can be a new one or inheritance from the family or in some cases both new and inheritance.

Helen Chloros and Drake Mavros were there so that’s an alarm for us. Helen also managed to talk to Ella and told her she was friends with Carissa. Drake came in after the conversation between the two was over.

That means if Helen has seen Ella, she will leave soon to inform her father and they will be here sooner or later.

Delia is already worried sick and she finds out that Ella saw something she will be more than worried.

Mr. Eugen if you do not mind me asking why did you not allow Ella to be brought up with the necessary training from the start within the system?

Because Aero I wanted my daughter to have a normal childhood and to enjoy her early days before the storm hit. I saw what it did to my mum and sister and I wanted good memories for her.

Mr. Eugen what if she would have managed to overcome it early and be ready for it by now. Then instead of losing conscious she would have known what to do when she saw what she saw.

You are not entirely wrong Aero but neither are Delia and I.

Let’s first figure out what abilities she has inherited and then we shall take it on from there. She will need to know the whole family history beginning to now.

They are well Mr. Eugen.

Yes, I will Mr. Eugen. Please head inside and then I shall take my leave.

Mr. Eugen hugs Aero and makes his way home.

As soon as Mr. Eugen gets on the porch Mrs.Delia opens the door.

How are the girls? They are asleep says Mrs. Delia.

Eugen, what did Aero say?

Delia dear he says Ella definitely saw something but what it was he has no idea. She fell unconscious after that.

Let’s see what Ella has to say tomorrow morning.

Delia and Eugen go to bed.

In the early hours in the morning.

Unknown to Eugen and Delia, Ella was not sleeping peacefully.

In her room Ella was in a dream where she saw herself falling in a pit that has no end like an abyss. She tries to grab on the branches of trees but she can’t grab onto any and keeps falling down as the deeper she falls the darker the world gets at the top making it hard for her to see anything and she can only see darkness as she descends to her fall.

The moment she lands on the ground in the endless pit she sees a small light the size of a lamp. Ella gathers courage and goes towards the lamp, picks it up and as she turns she sees a torch. She lights the torch and all she sees around are bones and skulls of human beings and then she sees a woman on the stake being burnt and whose screams are deafening Ella covers her ears as she drops the torch to the ground and she screams in her sleep.

Delia and Eugen run towards Ella’s room and find her screaming and wake her up from her sleep.

Ella wakes up mumbling many words, not making sense and all sweating. Delia hugs her and calms her down as Chloe and Zoe are standing at the door wandering what was happening.

Delia manages to calm her down and tells her it was all a dream and she is safe at home.

It takes a few minutes for Ella to realize it was a dream and she gains her composure.

Mr. Eugen sees Ella calmed down so he takes Chloe and Zoe downstairs and closes the door behind them.

As Ella explains to her mum what she saw and says that she felt like her own flesh was set ablaze, Delia calms her down but also terrified with the way Ella describes it. Delia in a state of shock still manages to get Ella moving to get a shower and come down for breakfast.

Downstairs Delia signals Eugen into the study.

Eugen she says the burning dream.

Do not panic Delia. Keep calm and we shall go and visit Andreas and Cora.
