Fate's Game

1105 Words
Athena was about to yell at Thas for ruining the peace of mind Tristan. Athena was about to yell at Thomas for interrupting her ritual of bringing inner peace to Tristan. She didn’t like it when someone barged into her house unannounced. But these two brothers had no manners in that case. They took her for granted and they came to her penthouse as they pleased. Still, Athena wasn’t able to set her boundaries with them. She saw them both as her two annoying brothers whom she couldn’t live without.  Thomas didn’t have to explain his arrival to her. She went into his mind and scanned his mind entirely. “I got this! And don’t say this to Tristan,” she said to Thomas and disappeared from the spot.  When she reappeared again she was in Ivy’s room. Athena had forgotten that Ivy was a mortal girl who knew nothing about bizarre creatures like them. She had startled Ivy by appearing out of nowhere. Ivy jumped down from the bed and moved a step away from Athena. “How the hell did you get here?” she trembled.  Athena crossed the distance between her and Ivy and she fixed her alluring gaze on her blue eyes. “You will forget everything that happened to you in the last five minutes,” she said.  “I will forget everything that happened to me in the last five minutes,” Ivy replied. Athena was not a fan of using her compelling powers against others. She dislikes taking away someone’s free will. But if she didn’t do this, it might confuse Ivy even more.  Ivy stood still like a mannequin in the dress shops while Athena went into her mind and read her thoughts. She went deeper into her heart and learned why she was feeling this way. Once she was done, she started to feel sorry for her. Athena understood that all Ivy wanted was her own identity. She wanted to be recognized by people for something that she has accomplished. She disliked being called daddy's little princess.  “You remind me of myself,” Athena smiled and sat down on the couch. She gestured Ivy to sit beside her and she obeyed immediately. “When I was young, I too wanted to be recognized for my own capabilities,” Athena paused and wondered why she was saying this to her. She had never told this before to anyone. But after seeing the lost look in Ivy’s eyes, she decided to tell her story to her.  “I grew up with five brothers, and I was the youngest of them. I was more potent than my brothers but no one acknowledged me as I was a woman.” “Then what did you do?” Ivy asked in an eager-filled tone. “Well, once I came to my twenties, I moved out of my house and followed my heart. I had overcome various struggles, yet I managed to find out what I really wanted.” “So I should move out of my house too?!” Ivy gasped. “But my parents didn’t allow me and now… I am kidnapped and…” “Calm down,” Athena used her compelling power now. “You are lucky that you have found your mate at this young age. You know, it takes us a lot and a lot of years. Some have to wait for an eternity for their mate to be born…” “What?” Ivy was confused now. Athena cursed herself again for speaking in a language that she didn’t understand. This girl needed to learn a lot. For heaven’s sake, she is a mate for Tristan, but she was very naive and gullible. How is it going to survive in this world?! “You have a long way to go, dear,” Athena stood up from the couch. “Until then, keep control of your emotions. Try to find what you truly desire, and don’t say that you want more i********: followers. Cause we both know that you are using social media as a distraction from your reality.” Ivy got stiffened on her seat. “How did you know?” Athena just smiled and walked to the door. “And don’t skip the food! That would do no good for you.” After getting out of Ivy’s room, she teleported back to her penthouse and faced the two brothers who were now fighting with each other now.  Tristan suspected that Thomas had done something to Ivy. He had confronted Thomas, but he defended himself by saying that his mate was crazy. “Ivy is not crazy,” Athena announced and turned the attention to the brothers. “She is just lost and needs guidance.” Then she fixed her gaze at a confused Tristan. “You made a mistake by abducting her so soon. She is just a little girl! You should have waited a year or two. Or you could have approached her as a normal human man would do!” Tristan got instigated by her words. How much time should he have to keep on answering the same question?! “You know that I had no other choice than that,” Tristan raised his voice. “If my rivals find out about her, then they will….” He didn’t have the strength to finish that sentence.  “I understand,” Athena softened. “But you could have waited a little longer and acted as if she wasn’t your mate. No one could have known if you had hidden it for a little longer.” Tristan sighed. “You know that it is impossible for me to control myself. How could you expect me to resist?!” At that moment, Athena realized a similarity between them. Both Ivy and Tristan were not good at controlling their emotions. Maybe that’s why they are mates?! No, it couldn’t be! Mates are like a match made by mother nature herself. She creates the fates! And if Ivy and Tristan are fated to be together, there must be a strong reason for this. Maybe they can help each other out! Athena was wise and she had the power to see the people’s nature. But even she didn’t know how Ivy and Tristan were going to work out the conflict between them. Ivy dislikes Tristan and thinks that he is a kidnapper, even though deep down she is attracted to his looks. While Tristan is unable to resist her at all! What kind of game are the fates playing with them?! Athena was eager to know about that!
