Sandra’s POV
It’s Sports Day. I play football, while Angel is a basketball player. Obviously, in this new session, we’re getting a new coach..yayyy. And guess what? Miss Damsel is our new female football coach. Damnit, this will either be no fun or a lot of fun, I can’t tell yet. Grrr.
We were all on the field, chatting, passing balls around, while some people were doing little exercises to stretch their bodies. Everyone looked excited to be back, except me, I was still half-asleep.
Suddenly, a sharp clap interrupted everything.
Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!
“Okay, listen up everyone!” A woman’s voice called out firmly, instantly commanding our attention. “I’m Miss Talia, and I’ll be your coach for this semester. As you all know, this is a new session. We must get to the championship this year, and I know it’s not going to be easy. It will take a lot of your time, it will be hard, but if we work together as a team, we can get there.”
The whole field was silent, hanging onto her words.
“Now, group work. Choose your partner,” she ordered.
Everyone quickly formed pairs, choosing their friends, teammates, or anyone nearby. Everyone… except me. I looked around awkwardly, realizing I was the only one left standing alone.
“Hey, you!” I looked straight in her direction.
“What’s your name?” she asked, walking closer to me.
“Uhmm… Sandra,” I replied quickly.
“Cool. Sandra, come over here.”
I jogged over to her. “Since you don’t have a partner, you’ll just be with me for today,” she said, holding my gaze with a soft smile.
What’s her deal? I thought to myself. But I just nodded and said, “Okay.”
“Perfect. Now, each team will give me a free kick, I need to know who’s capable of becoming my new team captain.”
“Yes, ma’am!” Everyone chorused.
She gave me another glance before turning back to the others.
“Group A first,” she announced, her voice firm.

The practice was over, and we all headed to the school bathrooms to clean up and freshen ourselves. The locker room was buzzing with loud comments.
“She’s so pretty.”
“She’s intense, but I like it.”
“I think we might actually win the championship this year if she really meant what she said.”
“I hope so.”
I ignored all the chatter and focused on packing up my things. I wasn’t really interested in the gossip.
As I stepped out of the bathroom, I started looking around for Angel. It didn’t take long to spot her, she was still on the basketball court with her team, spinning a ball on her finger like some kind of pro.
I sat on a bench nearby, scrolling through my phone while waiting for her.
“Hey babe!” I heard her voice and looked up to see her smiling at me.
“Hey,” I replied, returning her smile.
“You look so tired. How was your first practice?”
“Feels good to be back,” I said, stretching my arms.
“I see… and it shows you missed me a lot,” she teased, giving me a random peck on the cheek.
“Yeah, baby.” I laughed, pulling her into a tight hug. I felt someone’s eyes on us and looked up to see Miss Talia watching our little drama unfold from a distance. She quickly looked away when our eyes met.
“Shall we?” Angel asked, holding out her hand.
“Yes.” I locked my hand with hers, ignoring Miss Talia’s lingering gaze.

After School
We decided to branch off to a*****e to get some alcohol, because why not? It’s the first day back.
I tossed the bottle of alcohol into my mouth, drinking straight from it while Angel drove. She laughed at my carelessness but didn’t stop me.
“Turn on the music, buddy,” she said.
I turned the car stereo on, and Billie Eilish’s song ‘ilomilo’ started playing. We both instantly started singing along like two drunk besties in a music video.
🎵 Told you not to worry
But maybe that’s a lie
Honey, what’s your hurry?
Won’t you stay inside? 🎵
🎵 Remember not to get too close to stars
They’re never gonna give you love like ours🎵
🎵 Where did you go?
I should know, but it’s cold
And I don't wanna be lonely 🎵
🎵 So show me the way home
I can't lose another life 🎵
🎵 Hurry, I'm worried 🎵
🎵 The world's a little blurry
Or maybe it's my eyes 🎵
🎵 The friends I've had to bury
They keep me up at night 🎵
🎵 Said I couldn't love someone
'Cause I might break 🎵
🎵 If you're gonna die, not by mistake
So, where did you go?
I should know, but it's cold
And I don't wanna be lonely
So tell me you'll come home 🎵
🎵 Even if it's just a lie 🎵
🎵 I tried not to upset you
Let you, rescue, me the day I met you 🎵
🎵 I just wanted to protect you
But now I'll never get to 🎵
🎵 Hurry, I'm worried 🎵
🎵 Where did you go?
🎵 I should know, but it's cold
And I don't wanna be lonely
Was hoping you'd come home 🎵
🎵I don't ca…..(fades)

We both stumbled our way to my room, laughing and high off the alcohol, especially Angel. She was way more gone than me. I kicked off my shoes, and she did the same, nearly falling over in the process.
The thing about Angel is, she gets really dramatic when she’s drunk, but that’s what I love about her. She also tends to spill the truth without even realizing it. I made my way to the bed and sat down, already sensing she had something to say.
Angel walked over to me with the most innocent face, her big eyes blinking like she was about to confess a crime.
“What?” I asked, raising an eyebrow, waiting for her to spit it out.
“I have this weird feeling… that you’re going to leave me,” she said softly, sitting down right next to me. Her tone wasn’t playful anymore, it was serious.
“What? Leave you? That’s not happening,” I said instantly, pulling back in surprise.
“I’m serious. Dead serious,” she whispered, still staring into my eyes like she was trying to read my soul.
“Look, baby,” I said, cupping her face in my hands. “Nothing is ever going to come between us, okay? I love you, and you know I would never trade you for anyone.”
A small smile crept onto her face as I pulled her into a warm hug, holding her tight. The moment felt real, like our bond was untouchable.
But, of course, Angel being Angel, she switched the vibe within seconds.
“You know what?” she blurted, excitement suddenly lighting up her face.
“What’s that?” I asked, curious now.
“You won’t believe this… Miss Talia lives next door to us!” she said, giggling like she just shared the juiciest gossip ever.
“No way! How can that even be happening?” I said, hitting my leg on the bed in disbelief.
Before we resumed I told my parents I will be living with Angel off campus.
“Why don’t you want her living here?” Angel teased, nudging me.
“It’s not that, it’s just that…..” I started, but she cut me off before I could finish.
“That what? Look, the very first day we met her, she was clearly trying to flirt with you. Or maybe… just maybe… she’s into you.” She wiggled her eyebrows at me in a playful, teasing way.
“Into me? How would you even know that?” I asked, genuinely shocked.
“You know I always know things. Plus…” She leaned in close, grinning wickedly. “Maybe you want to f**k her too.”
She smacked me playfully on the arm and burst out laughing.
“What? F-F**k? Me? I mean, f**k her? No! There’s no way that’s happening,” I stammered, making weird, exaggerated faces that I couldn’t even explain.
“Ohhh, Miss Talia, someone wants to f**k you here oooooo!” she suddenly shouted, like she wanted the whole building to hear.
“Angel!” I yelped, rushing to cover her mouth before she screamed more nonsense.
We both burst into uncontrollable laughter, rolling onto the bed, gasping for air between fits of giggles.
And just like that, the drunken chaos melted into quiet, as we lay there, side by side, the room spinning ever so slightly.
Yeah… just another day in our crazy, perfect mess of a friendship.
