"Wake up!! Both of you wake up!" Lusie and Jason shot up from the hard ground they had slept on for only a couple hours. They looked around until they found the source of the yelling. Lusie rubbed her eyes and tried to focus her sight to see the two figures beside them. Jason groaned and ran his fingers through his messy hair.
"What the hell man?" Jason growled still foggy and heavy with exhaustion.
"Get up! There is no time to explain while you get ready. You have to move for the safe place now." Lusie's grandfather gushed and waved towards them.
Jason shared a glance with Lusie. She did not seem ready for another long day of hiking. Her eyes were red and glazed. Jason assumed that he did not look much better. From her grandfather's rushing gestures Jason could only assume danger was on its way. Groaning while getting up on his feet Jason handed Lusie a water bottle. She took it in her hands and tried to wet her face to wake up her senses.
Quickly they began wrapping up the blankets and gathering the very little amount they had in their bags. Jason dampened two of the bandanas. He took one of the teal with purple ones and wrapped it on Lusie's forehead. Lusie took the other one with the colors blue with orange shades and wrapped it around Jason's forehead.
Lusie held Jason's hand as he pulled her to her feet. Jason's hands felt warm in hers. He was probably warm all over. He seemed to radiate heat as his body temperature while she was naturally colder. They continue to hold hands while they left their shelter.
"About time. They could be halfway on our tails by now." The black haired darker skinned stranger voiced in annoyance. The stranger stood beside Lusie's grandfather. Her grandfather was still tapping his feet though Lusie could feel his eyes on their interlocked hands. Lusie felt a blush on her cheeks.
"Lay off. Who are you anyway?" Jason growled as he lead Lusie towards the direction of the safe place. Lusie could see in the corner of her eye the stranger smirked. There seemed to be an inner joke between her grandfather and the stranger. She wondered how they knew each other. However Lusie was too busy keeping herself steady on her feet around the bunch of rocks of the hill they were climbing.
"Damian, your appointed guardian angel." Damian said in his mixed vocals. Lusie's head shot up and looked at Damian. She tripped over a couple rocks. A squeak escaped her lips as she fell.
Jason kneeled down beside Lusie and after making sure she was fine helped her up. He knew she was pretty unsteady on her exhausted feet. The path they had to walk was the most difficult for them than the first part. Lusie wiped off the stuck gravel from her knees. She felt embarrassed having all the guys asking if she was alright. She tried to hold in her embarrassment but Jason probably knew she was anyways. He always seemed to read her.
Lusie stayed quiet during the walk and listened to her grandfather explain what they had found from the Doctor. Apparently they had been watching him while keeping an eye on them. Lusie could not help but want to hide knowing they hadn't been alone during the intense scenes. She was not sure how to react to knowing her grandfather and Damian had seen them kiss. She was grateful to know they had support on the other end though.
The sun that was out burned heat on them. Both Jason and Lusie felt uncomfortable traveling with it up but it was serious if they had to leave in daylight. Her grandfather had explained that it was only four in the afternoon when they started their journey. Yet to them it felt earlier than that. They both could feel the sweat building from their armpits and backs. If Jason had not made sure their bandanas were kept watered than they would probably feel overheated. They were walking for hours and had heard birds chirping in the distance.
Time passed quickly with the sky turning black with twinkling stars. Her grandfather had caught them up on as much of what they had found while observing. They learned that Damian had been assigned to Jason from the time he had choose to change for the good of their soul. The cold breeze of the night felt refreshing from the heated afternoon.
Jason insisted they stop for a long deserved break. He could tell by the lagging Lusie did that her limbs were sore. Both of them were hungry. Though his guardian angel complained Lusie's grandfather agreed to it but only for an hour. Lusie had been so relieved that she felt her body give out from under her. Her hands fell on the ground just as her knees made contact with it as well. She felt shaky all over.
Jason left and took his time in looking over the bushes and trees that surrounded the area around them. A little away from Lusie and the other two Jason found blueberries along with some other herbs they could eat until he could catch some fish. He carefully plucked them and placed each one in the bandana until he had a good amount. Gently he folded the bandana to keep from squashing the food and to keep it from falling out.
Lusie's body burned and shook as she adjust herself leaning against a tree. As she waited for Jason to come back Lusie glanced up at the dark sky. She could see hundreds of twinkling lights and some consultations that Lusie remembered from science classes. It was a much clearer view of nature from the forest than it was in her room at home. Her grandfather had told her how her father was taking legal action against the Doctor. That her parents were worried sick for her safety and were blaming themselves. A part of her was happy to hear that they regretted leaving her in the hands of the doctor. However another part was very glad to have been because Jason had been there waiting for her.
"Didn't find much but I have some berries we can eat." Jason walked into the sight of Lusie.
He saw her leaning against a tree while the other two were off talking amongst themselves. Damian was probably going on about a complaint while Alfred tried to reason with him. That seemed to be a common occurrence. Jason handed the bandana with the food too Lucie.
Suddenly he felt his heart beating vibrate his whole body. A tearing pain settled in chest. He could feel himself falling to the ground. Jason heard Lusie screaming and panicking. Jason's eyes ached with the rest of his body. Not even closing them helped. He was crying out in pain as he felt something rip open his gut. Just before he was about to pass out from the agonizing pain he saw a beautiful blonde haired women with black raven wings appear in his mind's eye. She was like a sculpture that so many artists had tried to create. Her lips were up in a smile as he looked at her. Cold and calculating eyes pierced him.
"I'm coming for you Jason. I will find you. When I do you'll watch me rip that brunette that you love in half and burn her skin to the bone. Then and only then will I rip out her heart in front of you." The lady whispered in a chilling sing song voice. "Azza will see you both soon."
Azza waved her hand and the pain vanished. Jason felt his vision turn to black and his body became heavy. The last thing he felt was Lusie's tears running down his face.
