Dr. William heard a shout from outside. A second later the phone on his desk rang. Quickly he answered it. Timothy's, the man at the front desk, voice rang on the other end. "Two patients have escaped into the forest back door sir."
He pounded his left fist on the desk. Several pens and papers flew on his floor. Rage filled him. There were only a handful of patients that would attempt to flee. Dr. William shot up while slamming the phone down before pressing the red button to contact the police. He could not waste time so he did not bother grabbing his jacket. Instead he ran out the door with his Browning 1911-22 Black Label Grey Compact handgun in a holster on his hip.
Dr. William ran out the back door and noticed the wiring that was opened to unlock it. He swore. Now his list was narrowed to three of who at least was one of them. Damn it, he thought as he walked out into the raining outdoors, how could this have happened? He should have heard this.
Timothy saw the red sparks in Dr. Williams eyes and took a step away. He knew that look and has seen it at least five times in the last three years he has worked for him. Usually the moments were when his son was involved.
They searched around the wet gravel looking for two sets of footprints to follow. The doctor's anger just continued to grow as they struggled. He kept a couple of guards inside to wait for the police while they continued looking. The ground was so watered that mud was slick instead of the sturdy ground that would usually be here. Time was wasting while a greater distance stretched. When they found the prints Tom had come over and the trio followed the path. Dr. William sure hoped the pair hadn't gone too far. He was already drenched to his skin with the rain and water kept going into his eyes.
The rain washed away a good number of prints on the ground which left them having to look around with a small flashlight in each of their hands. They were silent unless someone found something to either follow a path or any clue to where they were going. Timothy had filled in the doctor of who the newer guard had found missing. Dr. William had been surprised by the Lusie but knowing who he was looking for helped find the footprints that weren't washed away.
All three had thoughts running through their heads. Timothy wondered how Lusie had managed to escape. However Tom knew exactly how remembering how Lusie had gone to the beasts metal door. Tom and Dr. William were afraid by Jason and what would happen when they found them. If they could get through the forest and catch up to them. Dr. William knew once they had them back hell would be paid for the trouble Lusie and his son caused. It was only a matter of time.
Lusie stumbled forward tripping on a tree root. Not the first time she had. Jason was walking quickly in front of her but since he was so tall Lusie found herself falling behind often enough. It was like she had to jog or run to keep pace with him.
Jason sighed as he looked over at Lusie through the rain. Sure they were ahead of the guards and the hospital employees but he knew it wouldn't last if Lusie kept almost falling. Without a second thought Jason picked Lusie up bridal style making her squick a little. Easily Jason continued on but picked up his pace.
Lusie's cheeks blushed crimson and her breathing was a little unsteady with her heartbeat quickening to Jason's steps. She looked up at his water drenched hair and set jaw. Lusie could not believe he was holding her or that he acted like normal about it. No one had ever held her like this. She could feel his body heat pressed against hers as his body shifted between the weight in his legs as he moved around the trees.
When they ran into the forest it had been a drizzle. A while ago the rain down poured. They could not hear their footsteps and Lusie assumed that was a good thing. Her and Jason had not said anything as moving quickly pumped adrenaline into their system. The adrenaline had warmed her for a while against the chill. Being held made her realize just how cold she was.
Jason however felt like he was over heated instead. He tried to ignore how she felt nice in his arms while he shifted through the forest. It was like she was meant to be there and he guess in a way she was. They were made to experience this hell together to escape it side by side. He held her closer as he felt a shiver crawl over her. Lusie was very cold against him. He hoped they would find shelter soon so she would not get emoanya.
Jason stopped moving and Lusie followed his gaze. They both had heard a whisper. Jason frowned but he was not feeling uneasy. Lusie wanted to get down and find the source of the whisper. It was a pull she had felt plenty of times when a spirit wished to speak with her. "I think we should follow." Lusie muttered under her breath so only Jason could hear.
He felt Lusie squirming in his arms so he gently set her down. Her eyes had more of a teal shade to them now. Jason watched as she cautiously moved her feet around and headed towards the sound they heard. He knew the signs. She was being pulled to the spirit. Nothing he said or did could keep her from answering the call. Once the whisper was heard her body was hooked. So he followed her.
The spirit was leading them farther and farther away from any town. Jason knew the path they were going. Lusie however could not see anything but she felt the shivers crawl on her body from the chill. They walked in silence. They could not say anything to one another as the rain poured too loud. Thunder rumbled the night sky and lightning gave them light.
Memories from long ago were surfacing as they were getting closer to Jason's old hideout. A place he would escape for a couple days just to get away. The one pleasant place on this world to him. Jason used to take one item with him on the journey. Each time the item was different because he would leave the last item in his special place. They were probably still there because his father never did find out where the hideout was. Jason hoped that was the case because their was extra clothes and tools he could use through the journey.
Lusie smiled seeing the images of a younger Jason walking the path they were following. She wasn't quite sure how she saw this but someone had watched over Jason. Lusie could feel a loving warmth that was pulling her towards a safe place to turn. Her teal eyes watered as she heard someone call Jason's name. Lusie could hear Jason's reply as a child calling out mama. She continued on the path of a rocky trail and climbed down a hill. Lusie was caught up in the vision of Jason's past but she could also feel him beside her.
As they walked for what seemed like hours around the forest they stopped. They were in front of a large waterfall with beautiful flowers growing in the bushes around the edges. Jason smiled and walked into the water not needing Lusie to guide him to his hideout. Lusie's eyes turned back to the shade of sea blue while she came back to reality. Though the past and reality were not far off from each other. The rain was cold to their skin as they walked underneath the waterfall to the cave behind it. They had to climb a bit to reach the entrance. Both were feeling exhausted and their feet were throbbing.
When they got all the way into the cave it was completely dark except for the spirits light. Jason held Lusie's hand to help her up when he saw the spirit. They stared at a full body apparition of Jason's mother. Lusie could see that he took after his mother in many of his appearance traits. His mother's spirit held her arms out waiting for a hug. Jason did not move towards her. Lusie could see tears rolling down his cheeks. A sharp pain pierced through her chest that she knew Jason felt. Somehow his mother was the reason he felt alone and is the young man he is today. Lusie lifted her left hand up and wiped away the few tears he had let out. His watery eyes met hers before he walked to his mother.
Lusie could feel pain and grief but overall love from both their energies. She chose to stay a distance away but not close to the edge for anyone to see her. Jason and his mother had a lot to discuss and even though she was freezing and exhausted Lusie waited curled up against one of the cave walls. Her eyes were dropping. The exhaustion she felt was taking over. Soon after she laid her head on her wet pants Lusie fell asleep. All she heard was the waterfall before her mind drifted off.
