Chapter 29When I rise in the morning, there isn't a cloud in the sky and the day is cold, crisp and bright. I go downstairs to retrieve my uniform, which was left to dry on the clothes horse in front of the fire last night. Fortunately, it's dry but my wool coat is still very damp. I'll just have to wear my 'Regatta' jacket. It's waterproof and warm enough, but it doesn't offer my legs any protection from the wind. “Coffee?” Patricia calls from the kitchen and I jump.
