“That’s so rich coming from a woman like you Samantha, you talk about manner when you lack one yourself” a voice boomed from behind as Lilith took a seat, everyone swirled around from the sudden interruption. An old woman emerged from the corridor with a walking stick her winter-white hair, her glinting greenish eyes like that of my Father’s that holds a lot of emotions, a clear porcelain skin that matched her age, her chiseled jaw that made her look younger and her fragile voice. She was dressed so simple but elegant that a simple person would not be able to pull off. She looked like she was in her mid 50’s but still had a youthful look. Lilith kept looking at the woman, trying to figure out who she is; she did not remember anybody like this in the past. Then who is this?
“Mom what are you doing here?” John got up from his chair leaving behind his wife, looking at his mother in surprise and fear like a child about to get s*****d. Samantha was angry that with John’s mother was back here again, she never liked the idea of her marrying her son. The only reason she tolerated her was because she still had complete power over their wealth and the company, William and Lilith still did not understand what was going on.
“Mom what are you doing here?” John’s mom said a mocking manner
“Can’t I visit my son and grandkids or do I need permission?” John’s mother commented while taking a sit at the dining.
“Of course you are always welcome Elle, we are just a bit taken back” Samantha voiced out with a smile that did not reach the eyes.
Elle ignored Samantha and turned to her grandchildren, displaying to them one of her beautiful angelic smile. She might hate their mother but she did not allow the hate she felt for Samantha affect the affection she felt for her grandchildren.
“Hello, my name is Elle. I am your grandmother; I will be staying with you for a while. William and Lilith it is so nice to finally meet you after all this years, it been long overdue” Elle said like a mother talking to her child
Lilith and William did not know how to react, they were not use to certain gesture and did not know how respond, they simply nodded their heads and continue eating.
“Lilith William why do you not accept your grandmother’s greetings? Is that the way you were brought up? I am highly disappointed in you both” Samantha scolded her children sounding like a concerned mother, but Lilith and William knew it was all false pretense.
Lilith chuckle bitterly, the hate in her increasing a thousand fold. How dare her! Raise us? When did they ever have time for them? They could barely have a conversation of 5 minutes unless it was one of condemnation. She wanted to make a sassy remark, but now was not the time for all this. It was not time for it, and it wasn’t necessary.
“Okay” Lilith replied in monotone, sending a glare that cause a fearful shiver to run down Samantha’s bone. Samantha would be lying if she said she wasn’t scared. Lilith never behaved like this, her eyes are so dark and felt it could drain one’s soul away, her laughter was so bitter that it sounded like that of a psychopath. John was surprised and shaken up as well; he wanted to defend his wife but one glare sent from Lilith to his way made him remain quiet out of fear this time. Elle and William watched this whole interactions, Elle looked at her granddaughter with an unknown emotion while William was wondering what caused his sister to sound this bitter
Lilith shot up from her chair, a screeching sound made as she pulled back her chair. She muttered ‘let get going’ to William and they left, leaving behind their so-called family behind.
Lilith and William got into the car and the driver drove them to school while Lilith was deep in thought. Why did Elle appear out of the blue? Her grandmother was never in the picture, what does this mean? Will this change anything? Lilith was so deep in thought she did not notice they have arrived
Lilith was jerked out of her thoughts when a voice kept calling her she got more conscious and she realized it was her brother informing her that they have arrived.
Lilith got out of the car looking over at the hell of a thing they called a school.
Preston High, a prestigious school for rich kids with sticks stuck up their asses. The school was ruled according to hierarchy, the richer you are the more up the ladder you will be. There was the lower class known as the peasant, I know right? Are we in the 70’s or what? These are people who got in through scholarship, those who actually have brains but are bullied because they are not from wealthy families. There is the middle class known as the average because they are neither rich nor poor, just there. They are more like minions to the uppers class, doing everything to be in their favors and good books. Finally there are the upper class considered as mini gods, the class I belong to but at the same time I am not accepted. I got jerked out of my thoughts again when William called my attention.
“I will be going to class now” William announced, he looked like he did not want to go but I could not decipher why.
“Okay, did you bring lunch?” Lilith asked as she looked around for his packed lunch
“Mom said I should lose weight, that I look fat. So I only get to eat proper food during breakfast and disgusting smoothie for the rest of the day” William sighed
“Anyways I got to go, see you after school” William sighed deeply and walked away.
Lilith was shocked! How can a person be this wicked? To the extent she starves her own child he is just 10 years old. How could she be this wicked? Lilith clenches her hands in anger, thinking about millions ways to murder Samantha.
tck tck tck tck the school bell rang. Groaning in annoyance she left for class.
