Chapter 5 <3

I wake up the next day at 8am and the rain is pounding against my window. Tap, tap, tap! The rain is rapidly firing at my windows as if its war. Feels as if today itself is angry, irritated; funnily enough matching my own mood after that same repetitive dream. After a rushed journey and a waste of straightening my hair I arrive at school. I run to the bathroom to try and dry my soaked hair and save myself from looking like a drowned rat. 15 minutes later…

I had missed registration and had to sign in at the office. From there I was directed to head masters office, for what you may ask? Same. I had no clue, I mean I was just 15 minutes late. I sat down and made myself comfortable because why not?

An eternity later…

My head master, Mr Deichman strolled in.

‘Good morning Topaz, since you are one of our top students you will be tasked with showing around one of our new students today. His name is Zander and he will be joining your class, thank you and be polite.’

Oh my gosh!! I had forgotten all about the new students, let’s hope he’s not a d**k.

I hurry into the corridor as I’m terribly late and collide with what feels like a brick wall. The collision sends a shock through me and I am momentarily startled. I stumble backwards but strong, warm hands reach out and rescue me in record time. Once I’m steady I peer up through my long eyelashes and blink… and then blink again. Standing proudly at 6ft1 in-front of me is the most picture perfect face I have ever seen. Glossy raven coloured hair frames most of his face but I can clearly see these emerald eyes shining with mischief that just seem to pierce through me and read my very being , a slightly crooked nose and ruby coloured full lips. Damn who is this?

Aannnndd then he ruined it.

‘You should watch where you are walking little one’

Who is he calling little one?

‘Pretty sure you was watching enough for the both of us. You could have moved, but I apologise anyways. I have to go welcome someone now excuse me’

‘Now where would the fun in that be little one? Sure see you in a short while’

I sure hope not to see him soon, he is a little strange.

I continued to return to the office where the new student will be waiting for me and ignored this strange feeling that I just can’t explain or shake off. Trying to put it to the back of my mind I arrive at the front office.

‘Hello, I’m looking for a new student calling Zander?’

The receptionist answers almost immediately.

‘He hasn’t arrived yet, you can wait here’

I huff and walk away to sit down, what kind of person is late on their first day. Around five minutes later I see a shadow lurking behind me. I look up and I am met by the same shimmering emerald eyes staring down and me intensely.

‘Told you I would see you again shortly little one’

‘Firstly, stop calling me little one and secondly get out of here I’m waiting for the new student. Lastly leave me alone. Thanks.’

‘Wow little one what a wonderful welcome. Earlier you hurt me with your clumsiness and now you wound my pride’ He slaps his hand over his heart in mock hurt.

‘I am Zander, nice to meet you little one. Is that tour still available?’

‘You a-are Zander?’

Topaz says with utter disbelief. Just my luck she thought.

‘Yes I am, isn’t it just lucky we were paired together’ he says with a glint in his eye.

‘Fine let’s get this tour over with, I’m Topaz’.

I nudged Zander rather roughly in the direction of the corridor so we could finally go to our lesson. Strolling through the hallways of South Canterbury Secondary school all eyes were turned to Zander, all of the girls eyes gravitate towards him; eating up his bad boy persona. I have no idea why but it made me angry. Oh well I just shrugged it off, these restless dreams keep throwing me off. I need to sleep more.
