CHAPTER 1: AT THE OFFICE Eliora’s POV “Yes!”, I yelled. I finally got the job. As I hurried home to tell my husband the good news , I walked in on him having an affair with a woman on our matrimonial bed, moans filling throughout the room. That was it. I slammed the door behind them and walked away, something any loyal wife with integrity would do. "After all my years of being loyal, this is what I get" I felt sick to my stomach. The road was crowded and very busy. I held my phone tight as I tried to locate my new place of work. It was around 11pm in the midnight when I located the place. I’d rather sleep in an office than with a cheating husband. I could have thought of going to mandy’s house, but it was at the other end of town considering the time the incident happened and when I could arrive her house. “s**t”, I groaned. The office was locked. It was midnight anyway, no normal office should be working at this time. I think I was losing it. I managed to break in through a back door which was left open by security during his night patrol. I entered the nearby office. It was dark, lonely and scary. I was frightened by dark places but had worse things going on. I took a minute to accept the fact that I was going to work here. It was kind of confusing since the office looked kind of tattered. The dusty papers lying on the ground and chairs turned over seemed off for a high ranking company like this. I wondered what could have happened It finally hit me that I was going to divorce him. I hated him now or so I thought. I settled down in the dark office as tears rolled down my eyes . My heart shattered to pieces. “Why do bad things happen to good people?”, I muttered. It wasn't fair. After all, I didn't love him till after the marriage, but I still stayed loyal. He was just another asset my parents forced on me. But as usual I don't want to let them down. “How could I?” This was just a little bit of what I was going through. I managed to get some sleep before I heard a bang on the door. It was another voice coming from the entrance. The door slammed open an revealed the appearance of a masculine figure, mostly good looking, elegantly dressed in a tuxedo, his dark hair and grey eyes gave out aura, like the aura of a strict father. Our eyes met across the room, he nearly screamed. I on the other hand seemed like a mess. My hair roughly kept, some snacks I managed to sneak into my mouth scattered on my clothing.”f**k!” I recognized him as the interviewer from yesterday. Mr Zoe Luis, the freaking manager.I had to make a good impression of myself or I could get my sorry ass fired. I dusted of the chunks from my clothes, flipped my hair and summoned up courage to talk. I introduced myself as the new employee. He didn't say a word but he gave me a stern look. I didn't know what to expect anymore. His gaze stayed on me for some seconds before he directed me to the thrift store to change. “Change into something nice, we have an important meeting. You'll know about the details later”, he said. His deep seductive voice caught me off guard for a minute there. I lost focus as I gazed into his eyes. “Wow, so much for my boss. He didn't even welcome or congratulate me on getting the job”, I murmured. “ I guess I'll just change”I said as I rolled my eyes sarcastically. To think I'm that I was his secretary. My colleagues arrived at exactly 7am sharp. From the atmosphere, I could tell that it was a very important meeting, one which could change the fate of the firm. They welcomed me warmly and went ahead to prepare for the meeting. It was by 12pm and all the documents had to be sought out. The wind had scattered all the important documents I saw the other day and it took quite a while to arrange everything. I tried to help out as much as I could shortly before I got called by my boss. He educates me on all I need to know about the firm till now . My job in this important meeting was to offer him each file he asked for and make sure his presentation goes smoothly. Mandy visits with Daniel and introduces him as her fiancee. I and Mandy have been long time besties, not long ago did I figure how about her love life with Daniel and I'm honestly so happy for her. I didn't want to bother her about my marital drama , but she noticed something was off about me and kept asking what was it. I broke down in tears and told my bestie everything. From my job hunt in the city to finding Gavin cheating to an important business meeting I have in a few hours that I completely know nothing about. We head outside to get some air. As I walked. I couldn't help but notice, just a few meters across ours, the neighboring company, a mavon skinned guy, masculine , tall, well sculpted body, deep brown eyes and gorgeous hair. I thought I had seen him before but maybe I am hallucinating. He was beautiful. A girl could fall in love with him just for his dressing sense. The company looked a lot bigger than ours. We took a minute to admire how beautiful the company was before continuing our walk. We get ice cream and Mandy and Daniel take their leave just in time for the business meeting. It's finally time. The workers involved gathered up all that was needed, I joined them along with the manager and we headed for “The Boardroom”.
