I was surprised to hear him say that. Ashina broke my thoughts. “He is not lying, his wolf said he has been wanting to kiss you for years.”
“Then why did he treat me like s**t?”
They didn't want to see you with any other wolves. So they figured if they made it so you would never want to be with a male wolf in your life, then they would be safe from heartbreak.”
“Wow what a rucked up way of making a girl feel wanted.”
“Their wolves said they never wanted you to be treated that way. And they apologize.”
It was weird to hear all this being said. I had to shake the emotions away and finish my dance with Dalton. Before I went back to dancing with the girls.
As the night began to whine down I could help but have a huge smile on my face. Tonight has turned out to be one of the greatest nights I have ever had. However, I kept that just between me and the girls. I don't want the guys to think they’ve gotten off the hook that easily. I thanked all of them for a great night. And we made our way inside the pack house. Out of nowhere I stopped dead in my tracks as we approached the side door.
“What's wrong?” Delcan asked.
“Are you okay?” Dalton added.
I turn and look at them both with tears in my eyes. “NO! We are being watched by the shadow people!”
“LIke more than one?” Dalton inquired.
“Yes.”
“How many are there?” Delcan asked and you can see that his eyes started to shift.
“Three I think… I saw the first at the restaurant and then just now two more. I am not sure if there are any more. Or if any of them were the one from the restaurant, but if not that makes three.”
“We need to know if mom got in contact with Selene.” Novi spoke.
“That is a great idea.” Carissa chimed in.
We made our way inside and much to my surprise Nevada and Daniel were in the kitchen as we entered the pack house.
“We have a problem.” Delcan began
“Yeah I know.” Nevada answered.
“What is that supposed to mean mom?” Dalton asked.
“Shadow people…” Daniel responded.
“You’ve seen them too?” Novi questioned.
“Yep, lurking around outside.” Nevada stated.
“Can they get in here?” I asked worried that we were not safe.
No one spoke up to answer my question which made me even more worried.
“I spoke to the Moon Goddess, she said that she will send word to your parents Marie to have them come as soon as possible.” Nevada assured me.
“What do we do until then?” Carissa said as she also became very nervous.
“From what Selene told us they can only move in the shadows. So lights on. I do not want any darkness in this pack house until Marie's
parents get here. Do I make myself clear?” Daniel said in a very stern voice.
“Lights on it is.” Novi responded.
“We were lucky they didn't do anything while we were out tonight.” I chimed in.
“Very lucky to be honest, so until we have the upper hand Marie goes nowhere without the boys.” Nevada added.
I knew this was just what they wanted to hear. They are going to be by my side no matter where I go now.
“Can I at least still use the bathroom by myself?” I asked as I didn't want the boys to be in the bathroom with me. Plus I was starting to feel overwhelmed.
“Yes you can use the bathroom by yourself, but doors open. We can't take any chances alright? Just until we have a better handle on this whole thing.” Nevada answered.
“Fine…” I said feeling a bit defeated. “Do you know how long until my parents get here?”
“Three days.” Daniel responded.
We talked for a little bit longer about the shadow people until I finally had enough and Novi saw it.
“Welp I need to go and change. Do you all want to hang out in the movie room and watch some scary movies?” Novi suggested.
“That works for me.” Carissa stated.
“Sounds good to me too.” I added.
I look over at the boys who shrug and roll their eyes in agreement. I also needed to change so we all headed upstairs.
Once we were all changed we headed back into the movie room where the boys did their first sweep of the room turning all the lights on while checking every inch out to make sure we were safe. Once the room was secure. Novi proceeded to put the movie in. Carissa went up to the popcorn machine.
“How many for popcorn?”
I put my hand up and so did Novi. The boys however, didn't want any. We all took a seat while the boys sat on either side of us. They were taking this whole watching over me very seriously. I chuckled to myself regarding their protectiveness. This is the first time they have ever acted this way towards me. And as much of a pain in the ass it is, it is also kinda cute to see them acting this way.
After the movie was over we decided to have one big sleep over in the movie room. Considering the boys already checked the room out, we figured everyone would be safest here. We grabbed blankets and pillows and made makeshift beds for all of us by the screen. We chatted for a bit about all kinds of things before we decided to go to sleep. Novi and Carissa slept to the left of me while I slept between the boys. Delcan slept behind me and Dalton slept in front of me. I thought I would be uncomfortable because I always sleep alone. However, that was not the case. I was so content that as soon as I closed my eyes I drifted off to sleep.
***** 3 Days Later *****
The boys have stuck to me like glue. I have not even had a minute to myself in these three days. But I completely understand why.
Today is a big day as my parents are coming. This will be the first time in over a decade that they’ve been here. I am not as nervous as I thought I would be. I was honestly ready to get the answers about the shadow people.
The 5 of us headed down to the kitchen. I started to feel a little off. Almost like I was coming down with something. My stomach started to not feel well. However when we got to the kitchen I tried to ignore it and grab some coffee. Of course Delcan and Dalton insisted on making it.
“You guys know I can make my own coffee right?” I stated
“Yeah but we like making it for you.” Delcan answered.
“Well then I appreciate it thank you.”
“You're welcome.” Dalton added.
Watching them bicker over who is going to do what when it came to making my coffee was kind of cute. However, it took longer then expected to get a cup. Finally the coffee was finished. The whole kitchen smelled of the freshly brewed wake me up juice. Not long after we were drinking our coffee Nevada and Daniel came down.
“Are you ready for today Marie?” Nevada asked me.
“As ready as I will ever be.”
“Just know we will be with you the whole time.” Delcan added
“I know… It is still nerve wracking though.”
“We understand that and that is why we are here for you.” Dalton chimed in.
When we were done with the coffee I decided I wanted to get dressed so the boys came with me upstairs. We stopped at their rooms first so they could grab their clothes. When we reached my room, Dalton went to the bathroom to change and Delcan went into my closet. Leaving me the room to get dressed in.
“Are you finished yet?” Dalton asked me
“Yes”
“I’m coming out too.” Delcan responded.
My stomach really started to bother me. I was rubbing it when I noticed that the boys were in t-shirts and jeans while I had a sundress on. I went to take a step and doubled over in pain. Delcan rushed to my side. I let him know that I was alright, even though I didn't know if that was even the truth. All I know is that I have this pain and it is not going away. When we finally went down stairs Nevada, Daniel, Carissa and Novi were already there waiting for us.
“Your parents will be here any moment.” Nevada informed me.
My heart began to race. I didn't think I would be this nervous but I was way beyond that. I had many mixed feelings when it came to my parents. I missed them so much but still had hard feelings about them leaving me all those years ago.
There came a knock on the door and I knew instantly who it was. My parents. Novi quickly went to the door and opened it. I couldn't keep my eyes off of the door. Novi smiled and motioned for them to come in.
“Thank you.” My mother said.
My parents walked in and we immediately locked eyes. My mother smiled at me but I couldn't bring myself to smile back at her. Ashina then chimed in.
“Play nice Marie, they are here to help.”
“I know… I know..”
