Prologue
“Please stay!” She cried.
“You know I can’t. I made a vow to protect her always.” He said
“You always put her first! Please stay tonight!” She said, holding on to his shirt in tears.
“I’m sorry, I have to go. It’s an order, and I must be present.”
“I know you have to protect her. She has 11 other guardians that can go. Can you please stay tonight? I need you.”
“I’m sorry, Vivian, I have to go now,” he said as he pulled her hands off his shirt. He knelt by the side of the bed with her hand in his. “I promise, I’ll be back before you know it.”
The girl called Vivian couldn’t look at him as tears fell down her beautiful face. “I need you here tonight, please Sebastian, please stay here with me.” She pleaded one last time.
Sebastian placed his fingers under her chin and lifted her face to kiss her on the cheek.
“I promise I will be back soon,” he whispered and stood up to leave the room.
As he shut the door and leaned back, he could hear Vivian sob through the door.
Another man walked up to Sebastian and said, “you don’t have to come. Stay with her if you want.”
“Sam, we are at war. It is our duty to protect Sarah. I can’t break my vow as a guardian for her,” Sebastian said
Sam sighed, “you promised to protect her too, remember? Don’t you love her?”
“I love her more than anything!” Sebastian said as he started crying silently.
After a moment, Sebastian wiped his tears with his arm. “Let us go. Sarah and the rest are waiting.”
Sam nodded and started following Sebastian down the hallway.
…
Inside the dark bedroom, the girl named Vivian cried. She couldn’t count the number of times the man she loved broke promises with her.
At that moment, her heartfelt utterly empty.
The large mirror on the other side of the room started glowing, and a dark male figure appeared.
“Come with me. I told you he would always choose her over you. I, however, promise will always put you first,” it whispered through the dark.
Vivian lifted her head, and as if in a trance, she stared at the dark mirror. The dark figure came forward to Vivian on the bed and loomed over Vivian,
Her breath started to slow as she closed her eyes, thinking she no longer wanted to live in this world. She was ready to leave everything behind.
The dark figure whispered, “that’s right, beautiful, give in and let me take away your pain” He leaned over her to place a kiss on her lips.
His hand hovered just over her heart, and a dim white light emitted from Vivian’s heart, and a white crystal appeared.
The dark figure laughed. “Thank you, beautiful. You can rest now.”
He took the crystal from Vivian. As he did so, Vivian's breathing and heart slowed as she fell into a deep sleep.
