Chapter 2

1662 Words
Dylan's point of view I stared at the man as he begged for mercy. "Please spare me," he begged, crying like a baby. I smirked, watching him. Mark stood by my side but at a distance. "It has been quite boring. I guess with you, I will have a blissful evening," my evil smile increased, bringing a shiver down his spine. He knew that I would not let him go. He must die tonight; it was as simple as that, yet he was holding on to a strand of hope. Before he could save another word or move an inch, I used my ability as a Lycan and gouged out his heart. I heard a little gasp that did not come from the man I was killing. Then who made that sound? I looked around, searching for the person. I heard a tree branch snap, then the person took a heavy breath. "I got you now," I murmured to myself. I followed the direction of the sound and saw a lady with messy short, and curly black hair that touched her shoulders. She turned to look back and gasped, seeing me behind her. I stiffened as her unique scent engulfed my mind. "Mate," I and my wolf said like a whisper. We had found our mate. Looking at her, she did not seem to know or feel that I was her mate. She even tried to run away, but I held her shoulders. She screamed in fright, her fists kicking and hitting. Her blows did not harm me, nor did they feel like I was being hit. Her reaction to me made it obvious that she did not know who I was to her, and she had seen me killing that man. If it had been someone else, I would not let her survive. It was my rule that whoever was not part of my people and saw me killing, I would kill them. She opened her eyes and looked at me. I was taken aback by the lady. She possessed striking blue eyes that shone with innocence and cleverness. She was the epitome of beauty, her blue eyes sparkling with tears that made me want to do anything to wipe those tears off her eyes. I looked at her, "Did you see it?" I asked. She trembled and shook her head negatively, "I didn't see anything, I promise," she begged. She was frightened, and it was so obvious. Dylan had always loved it when people were scared of him because fear would make them behave in a better way. People who feared him often had a hard time betraying or acting against him. But for this lady, he didn't like it. He wanted to remove that fear from her, and this feeling that he was having was surprising; he had never felt drawn to anyone like he was right now. He stared at the lady intensely. 'Apart from being his mate, what was so special about this lady, or was this how the mate bond works?' he thought. They looked clearly at her; she was wearing a gown made with flowers, her feet were without shoes, and she had bruises on her feet and a few other places. Looking at her closely, it was obvious that what she was wearing was for a wedding. Was that the reason she cannot feel our mate bond? "Your feet?" I asked her. She blinked and looked at her feet, "Oh... I must have lost it while running," she said, her voice shivering with fear. I took a step closer to her, and she moved back in fear. "You can say what you want to say right there," she said to me, alerted. I sighed, "It seems like you know who I am." "But of course, I will know who you are. It will be insane if I don't know you. I may not have seen you before, but with the descriptions I have gotten about you and the tales that follow you, your Aura, I can perceive who you are," she said, trying to sound bold. I chuckled, "And who am I?" I asked her to confirm that she knows me. "You are Lycan Dylan, who is known to be ruthless. You spare no one when killing; you are feared by all. No Alpha werewolf has ever matched up to your strength; you have thousands of Alphas beneath you. Wherever you go, you rule. I have heard of your stories and how you conquer alphas that refuse to acknowledge your rule. Your family is the last Lycans existing in the werewolf world," "Wow, it feels like you know me more than I know myself," my eyes bore into her. She tried her best not to look at me, afraid that she would meet my eyes. I could easily see what she was thinking with her attitude. She was like an open book; I could tell how badly she wanted to leave but was afraid that I would go after her. "I would not say that. I am just someone who happened to have heard the rumors about you," she said. She said in a subtle tone, but I could feel that she was masking herself. I inhaled her scent; there was something special about her, but I could not pick it. "Who are you?" I asked her. "What is your name? Are you an Alpha?" She stiffened, "I do not think there is a need for us to know anything about each other. I promise I would not say anything that I saw today. I would leave here like today never happened," she said. I frowned, “I never said you should leave here like today never happened. I want today to happen, and I'm happy it did,” I smirked, seeing her shocked expression. She scoffed, “Of course, I will be stupid to think that you will go against your morals. Go ahead and kill me; it's not like today has been a good day, and I'm sick of everyone and everything in my life. But I beg of you, dispose of my body where it will not be seen by anyone,” she said. I saw her readiness to die. I took a step forward, and this time she did not move back. She looked me straight in the eye, her eyes drawing me closer, my legs moving to her like they were out of control. “Wait!” she screamed as if realizing something, “Why should I die? I am not the one wrong; I am not the one that should be killed. I am the victim; I can't die. You can punish me or do anything else, but I won't die. They deserve to die, not me,” she said with her eyes, teary. I had never thought of hurting her, so seeing her teary made me angry at myself for making her so scared that she was crying. When she saw that I did not attempt to talk or move to her, she turned around and ran. I didn't stop her; I stared at her running figure. “Why did you let her go? That is unusual; is everything alright?” Mark asked me. He had been watching us from the sidelines but did not attempt to interrupt since he noticed my difference in behavior. “She makes me act different; it intrigues me,” I said, still staring at the part she departed. “She has a strange aura, but I don't think she's an Alpha,” he said. “Yeah, I noticed,” I said, remembering how she ran and almost tripped. That was not an attribute of an Alpha nor a Beta. Also, an Alpha would never give his life so easily, knowing quite well that his death would bring great turmoil to his Pack. “I want her. She is my mate, and for some other reason that I am yet to figure out, I want to keep her by my side,” I said to Mark, who stared at me with his mouth opened ajar. This was the first time that I was making such a statement about a lady. --- Lina’s point of view The next day, I resumed everything in my life like nothing happened yesterday, though I could see the eyes of everyone, making it obvious that they were happy I did not become their Luna. It made me scoff. Kyle and Lula were officially together, and everyone supported them. Barbara begged me to forgive Lula, and after much pleading, I did not have a choice but to let go of it, even though it hurt me. As an Omega, I could not train like the Beta or Alpha. I could only be sent on errands and given tasks in the Pack. I dropped the materials for making drugs in the healer's quarters, then I went back to the assignment quarters, where every Omega like me was given a task to do. I met Terry, the Omega who was in charge of it. He looked at me, “You are being summoned by the Alpha,” he said and walked away. I raised a brow and went to the place where I was told to meet the Alpha. ‘What does Alpha Kyle want from me?’ I frowned. I went to him, but he was not alone. He had a visitor. I could not see the face of the visitor because his back was facing me. Alpha Kyle looked happy. “You will be an escort to our visitor throughout his stay,” Alpha Kyle said delightedly. I raised a brow. How could Alpha Kyle be talking to me even after all he did? I complained in my heart. I want to— I gasped, seeing the face of the dreadful Lycan. I shivered and glared at Alpha Kyle. Why is the goddess putting me in a tight spot?
