Chapter Fifty-One: GuiltPresent day
Outside the tiny room, the clock struck midnight and another day came to a close. Raven breathed deeply as the anger bubbled slowly down to a residual annoyance. He had exhausted all of his anger now, and the rage and hatred drifted away as a new realisation dawned upon him. Some emotions didn't fill the emptiness inside him, some merely widened the chasm.
Hatred had plagued him for too long. He had been trapped in a dangerous cycle of self-loathing, but somehow, Kiri had broken him out of it. He smiled as he thought of Kiri, of her beauty and wisdom, of all she had taught him. A peculiar churning began to writhe in Raven's stomach, a tight, constricting pressure rising up to his throat, a sensation of weight bearing down upon his shoulders.
