Jayden’s POV
“This is crazy!”
It is impossible to block out Callie’s screams, she is in so much pain but none of us are allowed to stop it.
None of us can get to her until the locator spell is complete. I was just about ready to rip off everyone’s heads as Callie’s screams became more and her curses became louder.
“How long is this going to take?” I asked Alex.
He was working as fast as he could and instructing us what to do. He had taken blood from Joseph, Callie and me. He told us it would make the spell stronger.
We only have one chance to do this. If we mess it up we will never find my mother.
Sarah was on the brink of crying out, but her head was held up high and she flinched every time she heard Callie scream out in pain.
“I am working as fast as I can,” Alex replied and then cut his own hand and spilled his blood in the bowl with Josephs, Callie’s and mine.
I watched as he closed his eyes and the room suddenly became cold. I could feel it now, the spell he used was a simple one but the power that he emitted was strong. It almost overwhelming me.
He was whispering some words in Latin that I did not understand. I think it is about time I brushed up on my Latin, mother has been trying to get me to learn for years now.
“It is done.” Alex said and then threw the necklace to me. “Put that on Callie and then you can release her, don’t even think about doing it the other way around. You might not live to see another day if you do.”
The warning sent chills up my spine, but I acknowledged what he said and ran as fast as I could to the dungeons where Callie was. By the time I got there I saw how the wolfs bane and silver weakened her, the murderous look in her eyes made me take a step back.
Her breathing was hard and labored, her veins were sticking out and she was covered in her own blood. I could not understand how she could injure herself like that with her hands handcuffed behind her back.
“I am sorry Callie.” I whispered.
I made my way to her and moved my hands behind her neck to put the necklace back on.
I had just managed to clasp it when she bit my neck, it felt more like she was sucking my blood and when she let go I saw her fangs and red eyes.
What is wrong with her?
She is a werewolf, not a vampire.
Do vampires even still exist?
This cannot be.
The place where she bit me was already healing, but it felt strange.
Callie came back to her senses and when she saw the bite mark on my neck she gasped.
She then started crying out in pain, she was covered in wolfsbane and the silver was still hurting her. I rushed to her side and burned my hands as I took off the silver handcuffs and helped her throw up the wolfsbane that was shoved down her throat. Blood came out with the wolfsbane and it sickened me, it was not long before she was sitting in a puddle of her own blood, vomit and wolfsbane.
I lifted up Callie’s limp body and carried her to my room and turned on the tap of the shower. I did not let her go or help her remove her clothes. I stood under the shower head with her in my arms and let the cold water rinse off the blood and cool her body down. She was hotter than she should be. At the same time it felt like she was ice cold. I don’t know what to make of it.
I wanted to cry and ask her how all of this happened, but I couldn’t.
Why did this have to happen?
What happened to her in London?
I slid down the wall and just let the cold water run over Callie and me. My baby sister is so strong, this shouldn’t have happened. I need answers.
I heard the door open and saw my father and Sarah standing at the door. Sarah had a clean set of clothes for Callie to wear and my father looked like he was about to break down. Callie looked a little better now, but she still looked like a mess. Most of her wounds have healed and her fever subsided. Her temperature was back to normal.
“How is she?” My father asked.
“I don’t know, Dad something happened.” I did not elaborate just yet I wanted to talk to my father and Alex alone. Mostly I wanted to see if I can find any answers from Alex.
My father seemed to understand he just nodded his head and then took Callie from my arms. I
could hear Callie murmuring, I just wish I knew what was going on with her.
Elijah’s POV
How do I find out what is wrong with my daughter if she refuses to let me, or anyone else for that matter, in.
I was happy when Alex got a read and found out where Skye is Jayden needed to take care of the search party now and send them out, we will need a plan of attack and extraction.
Sarah helped dress Callie and I waited for Callie to talk to us. I was even more shocked that
Callie was not still resting or passed out.
The amount of wolfsbane she was given should have killed her but it didn’t. When we were giving it to her in small doses she got mad and took as much as she can, she even took the three vials we had with the wolfs bane extract there. Half of one of those vials should have made her weak and pushed her into a coma. It made no sense. Even now there is wolfsbane still in her system but by the looks of her now you wouldn’t say her body is filled with poison.
“Alex find her?” Callie asked, she did not let her emotions show and her words were clipped.
“Yes, we will send out a rescue party first thing in the morning.” I replied, and although it was killing me to wait so long I know I needed to.
“Okay, Jayden can choose ten men he will want to take with us.” Callie’s voice finally betrayed some emotion but it was only at the mention of Jayden’s name. “Is he okay?”
“Yes, Jayden is more than okay. Why do you ask?”
“I bit him.”
Something about the way she said she bit him turned my blood cold. I wonder why that is. I think it is time I talk to Selena . I have not spoken to Skye’s mother since the time of Alpha Preyton’s attack and that was more than two decades ago. There were things that none of us could answer now.
Callie’s POV
I knew it, my father wanted to speak to the moon goddess and I cannot allow that to happen. I cannot allow my secret to get out.
I made my way to the office where Alex still was along with Jayden.
“I want to talk to you a little later. Okay?” I said to Jayden.
I went to the desk and found Alpha Killian’s number. Damn just thinking of him made my wolf stir for some reason. There was something between us, we both felt it. I just can’t let anything develop between the two of us.
“Hello?” Killian answered on the first ring.
“Hi, it’s Callie. I just wanted to call and let you know that things don’t seem to be progressing for the worst but it will still be a good idea to keep your men aware of everything around them. Increase border patrol and report to me if you notice anything strange, okay?”
“Okay, is your father okay?”
“He is well.” Was the last thing I said to him before I hung up. I couldn’t bear to listen to his voice anymore. I wanted him and so did my wolf. This is just crazy; being with Killian will not be good for anyone.
I looked up at Jayden and asked him to call Chase, aside from Alex he is the only other one that knows about Chase and I.
Three minutes later and Jayden was looking at me with his arms crossed.
“Why did you look like a vampire?”
Wow, way to start a conversation bro.
I told him through our mind-link.
“Okay, my dearest sister. What the f**k happened down there? You drank my blood.” Jayden said and although his eyes were filled with concern, there was fear in them too.
And the fact that I drank my brother’s blood was kind of disgusting, but it tasted so good.
“I was not in control of myself. The darkness in me took over and that is why I didn’t want to take off this stupid necklace.” I said, my words held more emotion than my voice did. “I am sorry I hurt you, I truly am. Just don’t ask me any more questions. I don’t want to lie to you nor do I want to tell you the truth.”
“Fine, but just remember I am here for you Callie. You are my sister and I love you. I will keep your secret if you tell me too. I just can’t bear to see you go through this alone.” Jayden said and ran a hand through his still damp hair.
“I wish I could, but this is my secret to keep. There will come a time when I can tell you, but that is just not now.”
Once I said that Jayden accepted it and then left Alex and me alone. Alex wrapped his arms around me and then kissed my forehead.
“Your family has a right to know.” He said.
I turned around in his arms and I knew what I was about to do next was wrong, but I had to.
I moved my hands on either side of Alex’s face and brought his face closer to mine. “Kiss me.” I commanded.
Alex wasted no time in doing what he was told. I wanted him to take me now. I have to protect my family and keep my feelings for Killian neutral. I will be gone again and as soon as I leave things can be as they were meant to be. After I help find my mother and kill those bastards that took her from us I will pack my bags and leave. I cannot stay in this pack any longer, I have to find a cure for this darkness.
Alex moved his lips down to my neck. I put my hands on his shoulders and lifted myself up and wrapped my legs around his waist.
Jayden is going to get Killian, since Killian is one of the strongest fighters and Alphas he knows, to come with us and when Killian smells me tomorrow, he will realize that I am not on the market. He might think I am a cheap w***e or hate me but I don’t care. As long as he stays out of the mess that is me.
Alex moved us over to the couch and lowered me. He moved between my legs and I felt his erection rubbing against my jean.
“Lock the door.” I whispered.
Alex stretched his hand towards the door and the distinctive click of the lock moving into place made me smile. Tonight my body will belong to Alex. My top was ripped off and Alex gently bit my shoulder. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked.
“I wouldn’t have told you to kiss me if I wasn’t.” I told him and reached down to his jean. I loosened the buckle as he continued to kiss me and then slipped my hand into his pants. “I want you.” I whispered.
A few hours later Alex and I were on the floor. “Thank you.” I said and got on top of him again.
Alex laughed and held onto my hips. “I love that you can keep going, but I cannot and we need to rest for tomorrow. For a newly deflowered virgin you know things that not even I knew.”
I smiled and got off him. I quickly put on my clothes and waited for him to do the same. I lead him to a room that was three doors down from mine.
“Sleep tight.” I whispered and gave him a quick peck on his lips before I left to go to my own room. I took my third shower for the day and slipped into bed without bothering to put on anything to sleep in.
Tomorrow all hell is going to be let loose.
