Chapter 1
"And just like Cinderella, you'll also find your Prince Charming and live happily ever after." Mia said staring dreamily into the sky with her hands clasped in-front of her chest.
"Enough with the Love talk already Mia!"
"If you could just give love a chance Mavis."
"If you could just shut up Mia, we would get things done a lot faster!" I scolded as we had a huge delivery to make today.
"Fine I'll shut up. But I'm gonna be the one shouting I told you so! You're gonna fall in love Mia, you're gonna fall madly in love." She laughed.
"Get those boxes into the car!"
Crazy girl!
Soon enough we were done loading the truck and I began driving to the delivery address. The pastries were for a little girls birthday party. Her mother had come to the store about a week ago to place the order.

"How far is it Mavis?"
"Just ahead Mia."
"And who's birthday is it?"
"A little girl. It's her 10th birthday." I smiled remembering Mia's 10th birthday.

"And we're here." I said parking before a huge mansion.
"M...Mavis!"
"Are you sure we're at the right place?" Mia asked with her mouth wide open.
I glanced at my phone. "It is the same address the lady gave me."
"Oh my gosh! It's just like the Prince's castle in Cinderella!"
"Not again with the Cinderella talk."
"Fine, fine."
"Do one thing. Wait here while I go talk to the security guard." I said as I unbuckled my seat belt and stepped out of the truck and walked over to the security guard.
"Excuse me sir." I called his attention
"How May I help you?"
"Is this the residence of Miss Gabriella? Actually I'm a baker and she has hired me to make and deliver a few items for a birthday at her house."
"Yes it is. Please come in." He said, signaling to some other guy to open the gates.
I walked back to my truck and started the engine.
"Seems we're at the right place Mia." I looked at her before driving in. I parked the truck backing the houses' main entrance. The security guard walked over to where I was and said a few words on a speaker phone on his shirt while I opened the trunk. After a while, two ladies stepped out of the house.
"Good day ma'am!" One of them greeted me.
I smiled. "Hello there."
"Is everything complete?" The stricter looking lady asked.
"Yes it's all here."
"And the cake?" She asked again.
"It's right in the middle." I showed her.
"Good. Mary!" She called and the lady who greeted me stepped forward and began taking the boxes out.
"I'll just help out." I said carrying a box myself.
I called for Mia. "Mia, come over here and help." And she took a box as we both followed the lady into the house. Indeed it was a beautiful house.
"It's so big and beautiful." Mia said looking around in awe.
"Mia! BEHAVE!" I whispered.
"I know."
We followed the woman through a hallway and into the kitchen. It was even more beautiful with its brown and white theme. It had marble white tiles and a gorgeous marble White Island as well with brown stools all around it. There were brown cabinets and then a huge glass door that revealed a beautiful backyard. There was a swimming pool and a lovely wooden patio and beside it was a barbecue stand.
What a lovely place Miss Gabriella has.
"You can place them here." The lady said bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Alright."
I placed the box on the counter and took hold of Mia's hands. "We'll go get the rest." I smiled.
I took Mia with me and slowly, we took out all the boxes of pastries from the truck into the kitchen.
Few minutes later…
"And here's the cake!" I said dropping the last box on the island as there was no more space left for it on the other counter.
"Thank you." The lady smiled.
"You're welcome ma'am."
"You can call me Mary."
"Okay Mary, I'll take my leave now."
"I'll walk you out."
"No it's fine, I'll manage. Goodbye." I smiled and left the kitchen.
On my way out I saw Mia talking to a guy but I couldn't see his face.
How did I mot notice she was gone?
He was young and looked about 6ft tall or more. He had a navy blue suit on and was holding what seemed to be an antique vase in his hands.
"And whom are you here with?" I heard him ask Mia. He didn’t seem happy.
What have you done Mia!
I scurried over to where they stood grabbing Mia by her shoulders.
"Mia!" I called
"Could you wait for me in the car. I’ll just talk to him for a minute.” I said looking at her. She nodded and walked out of the house.
"Sorry, but you are?" The guy asked, staring at me intently.
Now I was able to notice his facial features clearly. He had deep blue eyes, a chiseled jawline and a pointed nose. His lustrous black hair swayed to a side, his beards and muscular outline adding to the masculinity he already exuded and his dimpled smile the most appealing feature on his face.
"M...mavis, I'm Mavis a baker. Mrs. Rodriguez h- hired me to supply a few pastries and a cake for a birthday party here today." I stuttered.
"And the girl?” He asked and I looked at the direction Mia had just left in.
"She is my younger sister, Mia." I paused.
"I'm so sorry sir. I should have kept an eye on her." I explained but it seemed to make him angrier.
“This is an antique vase and it costs a lot of money. I do not appreciate strangers walking around my home and destroying my property.” He inches in closer to me placing the vase back on a table behind us.
"But the vase is still intact and she’s just a child. She meant no harm.” I said again. He turned to look at me again.
“Then keep that child under control.” He stated.
I was surprised at his tone of voice even though I tried to reason with him. Not wanting the argument to grow further I decided to apologize again.
“I’m very sorry on behalf of my sister. It won’t happen again.”
“Of course it won’t.” He stated before walking away.
After a while, I turned to leave the building. I got into the car and turned to face Mia, my arms folded across my chest.
"What did I say about BEHAVING and staying out of TROUBLE?"
There was no answer. Instead she hung her head low avoiding eye contact with me. Then immediately she brought her head back up and smiled lightly.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to push the vase. I hope he didn’t get to angry?” She asked
I looked at her face and she looked really sorry.
“It’s fine. He wasn’t mad at all but next time try to stick with me, okay?”
“I will.” She smiled after which I started the van and drove off.
