Chapter Four     “Practicing is a great way to prepare yourself for any future purposes,” Mrs. Madigan droned on about the importance to be prepared for everything or anything in our unpredictable world.      Orson slid a sheet of paper in between me and Vellity while Mrs. Madigan had her back turned away. I shot Vellity a look and slowly opened the note.     You guys should come hang out with Elowen and me this afternoon. There may be more than us though. Yes or Yes?     Vellity sent me a questioning glance, all I did was shrug. There wasn’t anything with hanging out with them this afternoon right? Wreath was helping some of his other students today so I had nothing else to do. Vellity nodded her head and I marked both yeses on the note, then handed it back to Orson. I could hear a small excited yes come from both Elowen and Osron.     “This is going to be soooooo much fun,” Elowen was practically jumping in circles.      I gathered my things and put them in my bookbag. It was already the end of the last block for today and we were going to hang out with Orson and a couple of his friends. Elowen basically ran out of the classroom. I sped up my pace to catch up with her and ended up banging into the wall.     “Ow,” I rubbed my forehead and looked at this “wall” that decided to get in my way. It turns out this wall was none other than Aipathy, with Aine who was behind her.      “Ew, watch where you’re going,” she brushed off her shirt and brushed past me.      “Well,” I said. “I’m sorry for getting in your way.”     Elowen came to stand beside me and glared at Aipathy. She then shot me an apologetic look. “Sorry, I got kind of excited.”     I snorted. “More like a lot.”     We both laughed and headed to the dorm where all of us were going to hang out for the afternoon.     When we reached our dorm Orson had already made himself at home with two other guys who also looked pretty comfey. They all waved toward us and I could smell beef stew coming from the kitchen.      “Oh! Emory come and help with this stew,” Vellity’s head popped out from the kitchen doorway. I nodded and dropped my bookbag near the couch and headed into the kitchen.  Vellity was chopping up some vegetables up and handed me the knife when I stepped beside her.       “So what are we doing?” I asked.     “Right now, we’re cooking,” she replied. “But after this we’re all going to eat stew and maybe watch some movies.”     I nodded and finished cutting up the peppers. Vellity instructed me to pour them into the pot already filled with delicacies. The stew was supposed to cook for thirty minutes. Thirty long minutes. My stomach growled as we waited for it to be finished and plated.     Elowen had already beat Orson for the millionth time in this racing game on her gaming console by the time Vellity and I brought in the bowls of stew. Orson pulled out his hair, while Elowen jumped up from her seat and did a little happy dance.      Vellity and I shared a laugh at Orson’s frustration and I sat a bowl of stew in front of him. His face brightened and he dug into the food. The two guys who came with Orson introduced themselves to me and we continued eating. Turns out they were fraternal twins. I wouldn’t have guessed, they looked really different, besides the pointed ears each of them sported. Rowan had black hair with red strikes in it, while Amon had white hair.     It was after twelve by the time the guys left the room. I helped Elowen and Vellity clean up the living room and then headed to my room. Tomorrow I would be spending my day with Wreath.
