CHAPTER 1
MASON BLAKE
Eyes as blue as the sky on a beautiful day.
I keep looking at the human girl as if she were the most fascinating thing in the world. I've never been fascinated by something like this before.
But every night, I like to be here to watch her. Wolves shouldn't feel this way about humans.
For weeks, I did the same thing every night, I just stood in the darkness of the night watching her.
She doesn't know I exist, but for many nights I've watched her, and even though I've never stood in front of her, I know many things about the human girl.
The night is fast approaching, but she continues to pick flowers in a large field in the forest. She does this almost every day, and I like to watch her smile when she smells the scent of a flower.
I'm standing behind a tree watching her walk back to her house carrying a basket of flowers.
She lives alone with her father in a small cabin in the forest, and she usually stays alone every night when he's working in the city. I still can't understand how two people are living in a completely private place.
I look up at the sky and see that it's getting darker and darker, and I keep walking between the trees and following her to the cabin.
Furthermore, I see her enter the house, and I lie down on the ground, still watching and listening to her.
I don't know why I always do this. I'm a lone wolf who lives in the forest, and I think it's become a daily thing for me. Likewise, I'm fascinated by a human girl.
Eve is her name, I spent a long time listening to her father call her by that name.
A beautiful name for a human girl.
But I don't think I could ever stand in front of her as a wolf like that. I can turn into a human man every day, but I don't know if that would be a good idea.
I know a lot of things about this girl, tonight is a Saturday night, and I know she's going to sit on a chair outside the hut to watch the stars. This actually happens again, and I see the girl coming out of the hut, but she looks sad now.
I walk over to another tree to take a closer look, and I control my urge to approach her when I hear her crying softly.
I sit down on the ground, making sure she can't see me. She looks like a very innocent girl, with blue eyes and long black hair.
Her father isn't here yet, but I don't know what happened to her mother because they never talk about it.
I hear the wind blowing hard and see the girl looking up at the sky, her eyes shining with tears. I turn my head before lying down on the ground and continuing to look at her.
Not only that, but I am a supernatural creature, and she would be very afraid of me if she knew what I was, and I can't let that happen.
She's still crying with her hands on her face as if she's very sad about something, her father always comes home very late on days like this.
I blink my eyes as I watch her lie down on the wooden floor of the cabin's veranda, still watching the stars.
I'm a wolf who lives alone in this forest. Furthermore, I've seen many humans, but I've never felt this way about another person.
The hours seem to pass more quickly, and I lay my head on the ground, listening to the wind getting stronger. The girl was looking at the sky, and now she's asleep.
It's very cold, and I can feel her shivering in her sleep, but I can't do anything about it.
I blink my eyes, feeling the tiredness come over me, and after a while, I feel sleepy too.
I open my eyes quickly when I hear a scream that is very familiar to me. Furthermore, I heard a scream from the human girl.
Eve.
I stand up looking at the house and can't see the girl, but I can feel the danger approaching, and I know she needs help right now.
I step out of the darkness before approaching the house, but she isn't there. Likewise, I raise my head when I hear more screams and a noise that is very unusual for me.
Vampires.
I start running as fast as I can through the forest, trying to find her. Vampires in this part of the forest are not common, this used to be a completely safe place, but I see that this has changed now.
I can smell the creatures being fast and hungry for human blood, and chasing a human girl in the middle of a dark forest is very convenient for them.
But I can't let them touch or hurt her.
I start running faster between the trees, still listening to the girl screaming and running.
I start howling loudly as if to say that I'm coming to save her.
Vampires are horrible and very cruel creatures, they have no feelings or emotions and usually kill humans in the worst possible way.
As I continue to run through the forest as fast as I can, inside my mind I start to imagine them hurting her and that makes the anger grow inside me.
She's a human girl and I'm a wolf who's going to save her right now.
This has never happened before, vampires shouldn't be in this part of the forest and that means something is wrong and this place is no longer safe for humans.
I howl more often and I can smell the vampires closer, a few meters away I can see the two creatures running after the human girl.
I've always hated vampires and I won't hesitate to save her this time, vampires are immortal creatures and they can only be killed by silver, I won't be able to kill them, but I can save her now.
