The shrill alarm echoed through the underground tunnel, reverberating off the stone walls until it became almost impossible to think.
For one brief second, the four of them stood frozen. Then instinct quickly took over.

Adam's voice snapped them back to reality and without waiting for anyone else, he took off. The rest of them immediately followed, their hurried footsteps pounding against the cold stone floor as the alarm continued blaring overhead.
