'His dark curly hair swept above his shoulders, and his hazel eyes never left the woman in his arms. The woman had plumped pink lips, afro-textured hair and eyes with a dark blue shade. Their eyes looked towards a tall pale man in a black suit with red hair. He looked amused as he said some words to the pair. He had a wine glass in hand with a thick red substance and occasionally sipped it. He then abruptly stopped and glared straight into Lincoln and Harley’s direction. He walked towards them, never taking his eyes off them, his blood-red lips formed a smirk. The redhead winked at them and waved his hand as if greeting them.' They immediately fell to their knees and glanced at each other in confusion, "What does this mean?" they said in unison, heaving in deep breaths. Their heads tilted upwards to the goddess who had then removed her hands from them. "Both of you have suffered enough and still will. Besides that, I believe in you, you're stronger and smarter than you think. You both have to solve this problem and be reunited with your blood family. A lot is to come, my children. Please brace yourselves for what is ahead. I will send a messenger to assist you on your journey." In the instant following that, the Windcrest pack along with Harley and Lincoln found themselves back at the pack house. They were no longer surrounded by grass and the sunlight was not blocked by the clouds. The goddess reappeared before Magnus, alpha Red. He choked after awakening and his body failed to get him on his feet, "Damn that boy", he said with spite, still rubbing his neck. "Magnus, I wish you had a heart", alpha Red froze for a second. He opened his mouth to protest, but no words escaped his teeth. "Look at you, are you a leader? I think not", she raised her voice. "You have disappointed me gravely. Therefore, as punishment, you, along with your pack, will not be able to shift for the next three months. If you do try to, death will befall you," the wolves in the background began to whimper in sadness. "I advise you to utilize this time wisely and take a good look at yourself. If you do anything uncalled-for, I will separate you from your inner wolves forever, leaving you powerless against the vampires." She vanished into thin air, leaving a trace of white smoke. Blue Hill was lit up again by the rays of the sun. Magnus' eyes widened in astonishment as he could no longer see the Windcrest pack. "So that's how it's going to be, huh?", said Magnus. Marcus stared at him attentively from behind. - WINDCREST PACK HOUSE - "Well, judging from what you've just told me," she said with her head hanging low. "I guess it's clear what we have to do... GO TO THE UNDERWORLD!", Kassidy screeched with excitement. "The under-what?", Harley asked, "Is that even a real place?" "Of course, you never heard of it before?", she asked dramatically. She walked towards Harley and placed her hands on her shoulders. Kassidy looked at Harley with her squinted chocolate eyes and shook her head in disapproval. "Harley," she said with a soft tone, "Under which rock have you been living?" "Uh..." Harley kept looking everywhere but at Kassidy who was hovering over her. "Enough with that Kassidy", Kyle shouted, I believe I should fill her in on that. I'd go back to training if I were you." "But- "No buts, out you go", Kyle ushered her out of the meeting room. Closing the door behind him, he faced Harley. "What was that about?", she asked. While observing the scrutinizing look on Kyle's face, she chose to have a seat. As if on cue, Kyle sat on a chair in front of her. He leaned in towards her and kept quiet for a few minutes before speaking. "You've got a lot on your mind, don't you?" he tilted his head. "Well, yeah..." An awkward silence fell into the room once more. Kyle studied Harley's expressions. Harley hadn't moved an inch since she sat down. Her palms were sweaty as she hesitantly raked her chestnut curly hair. She cleared her throat then looked at Kyle, "Do you, do you hate me?" Kyle furrowed his eyebrows in confusion before giggling at Harley's question. "And what exactly makes you think that?" he raised an eyebrow with a slight smirk. Anything to exude superiority. "Look Harley, my loyalties lie with Lincoln and Cassy. That means I protect them from everything and everyone that might compromise their safety. I believe you caught my drift." He leaned back in his chair and relaxed his shoulders. "Now, onto the real business, Lincoln asked me to fill you in about the underworld and all things on the surface related to it. You ready?" "Yeah," she replied in a breathy tone. "Alright then. The underworld is a different realm within the world of Nermia- "Hades as in Tartaros?", asked Harley. "Please don't interrupt, and no, Hades as in the Shadow Realm, a much deeper part. It's almost impossible to get into as wolf". "Oh, alright", Harley sunk back into the chair and listened. "As I was saying, above Hades is the Shadow realm where the Vampires live. Where we will have to journey to. The Shadow realm isn't an easy place to just wander off into, but luckily for us, we have the moon goddess on our side. Do you understand what I've said so far?" "Yes, yes, I get it", she shifted around her chair and kept her head low, causing her to cover her face. "Is there anything you'd like to as- "No!", she stood abruptly from her chair and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Her tears are the last thing she wants to exhibit. Kyle stared blankly at the empty seat before following Harley. On his way, he questioned the servants about her location, but they all gave different answers. They all mentioned that she sped through the corridors like a whirlwind. 'She's gone, the servants don't know where she went, Kyle telepathically notified Lincoln. 'I saw, what did you say to her?' 'What?' Kyle and Lincoln spend the rest of the day searching for Harley within their territory. Both men did not utter a word to each other. The day went by slowly. Nightfall came and neither Kyle nor Lincoln found Harley. All efforts to communicate with her telepathically were futile. She masked her scent so she could not be located. A skill she had mastered over the years. "Ah, there you are, miss runaway", said Kassidy. "Wow, I didn't think we'd find you here", said Abe. Harley looked up at them with watery eyes and gazed back at the dark sky. Abe and Kassidy both lay beside her on the smooth rooftop of the pack house. It had a clear view of the land surrounding them, making it breathtaking to look at. ''It was Kyle wasn't it, that trashy beta?'' asked Kassidy. ''Yeah I bet it was him, he's too hostile to anyone outside the pack. I doubt he'll ever get a girl'', said Abe. Harley glanced at the girls beside her in amusement. ''You guys stop it", she gave a weak smile. She propped her head in her hands and cried once more at the memories that came flooding back. Kassidy and Abe sat beside her. "You can tell us anything, we're basically the cool people of this pack. Even our back hurts from such an important responsibility". Abe gently embraced the she-wolf. Kassidy nodded her head in agreement. Harley planted her face between her hands and wiped her tears. "It's... a long story." An image of Amareche flashed across her mind. She lay quiet and stunned. How could she forget?
