Raven's POV
I don't know how I managed to sleep in that dark cold place they threw me in, but the loud jerk of the metal gates rumbling open jolts me awake. My eyes snap open and fear streaks through my entire body like lightning. My blood turns to ice and my heart starts racing so fast I think it might explode out of my chest. This is it. They're going to kill me. They're going to drag me out and execute me in front of everyone and there's nothing I can do to stop it.
I can hear voices outside, guards talking in low tones. I press myself against the far wall of the cell, trying to make myself as small as possible. Maybe if I'm quiet enough they'll forget I'm here. Maybe they'll just leave me alone.
