Chapter 5

"What are you doing here?" Eira frowned, glancing at the Bentley beside Lukas. Did he just get out of this car? Was this still her pathetic husband? Or did the pizza company start sending Bentleys for deliveries? "I... I..." Lukas stuttered, glancing at Dougie in the Bentley, who was grinning like a sunflower. Dougie promptly reached out his hand and said, "Sir, thank you so much. Because of you, I made it here. Let me treat you to dinner next time to show my gratitude." Lukas nodded politely and said, "No need, sir. Goodbye!" His tone hinted at urgency. Dougie didn't say much more, nodded to Eira on the roadside, and quickly had the driver drive away. Eira stared in shock. 'Isn't that Dougie, the chairman of Summit Enterprises, Eldoria's richest man? Lukas is actually in a car with him!' "Do you know Dougie?" Eira turned back to Lukas in surprise. Lukas shrugged and said, "I don't know that old guy. He was lost, so I helped him find his way." Old guy? Eira's lips trembled with anger. He actually called Eldoria's richest man an old guy? How disrespectful! "Old guy? He's Eldoria's richest man, chairman of Summit Enterprises!" Eira glared at Lukas with annoyance. This man was becoming more and more ignorant. The more she looked at Lukas, the more she despised him. She said icily, "Lukas, don't forget, my dad is hosting a dinner at Elite Bistro this weekend. You should buy a gift and come." "I haven't agreed to go yet," Lukas replied. "You!" This really annoyed Eira. She had finally convinced her father to talk to Lukas and expected him to apologize and make things easier for her father. But Lukas responded with this attitude. Forget it. She shouldn't have fallen in love with this man in the first place. "Whatever!" Eira snapped, her temper flaring as she turned around and walked away, swaying her slim waist and perky hips. Lukas watched Eira's figure as she walked away. She had changed her clothes. It seemed like she had sprayed perfume and put on makeup. Lukas was confused as he observed her walking into a building, pondering what her intentions were. Hadn't she returned to the office? What was she doing here? Where was this? Hilton Hotel! Damn it! Had Eira snuck off to meet another man again? Thinking about it, Lukas felt a surge of anger. He worked so hard at his job, and she was here in a hotel meeting with someone? No, he had to follow her and see what was going on! *** Eira was very annoyed today. Her daughter's heart condition relapsed, and she had been in the hospital for a month. Then she was upset by Travis. When she returned to the company, a project went wrong, causing the other party's CEO to stand her up. Then, the CEO said she must come to Hilton to discuss further. Eira didn't want to come, but they used the project as leverage, so she had no choice. It was a million-dollar order! Just then, her phone rang. "Hello, Mr. Carr, I've arrived. Where are you?" "I'm waiting for you at the restaurant on the sixth floor," came the smooth voice from the other end of the phone. "Okay, Mr. Carr, I'll be right up." Eira smiled busily. She sighed, hesitated for a moment, looked at the elevator, and finally decided to go up. At the moment the elevator doors closed, Lukas appeared in the lobby. He saw Eira get on the elevator from a distance. He ran over in three quick steps but was interrupted by a mocking voice. "Oh, isn't this my useless brother-in-law who delivers pizza? You even come to Hilton?" Lukas turned his head to look, seeing a pair of glamorous, fashionable lovers embracing. The girl had crossed her arms and leaned mockingly against a handsome man. "Alyssa?" Lukas frowned slightly, not forgetting to glance at the floor where the elevator had stopped—the sixth floor. The girl walked over with a mocking expression, laughing as she said, "Lukas, what a coincidence to meet you here. Seems like your business is quite extensive." She was Alyssa Hayes, Eira's cousin. She just started her freshman year this year and had a large bust. "Alyssa, who is this person?" asked the handsome boy next to Alyssa teasingly. Alyssa chuckled immediately. "He's my cousin-in-law, remember? I told you last time. His startup failed, and now he's delivering pizzas. He even borrowed a few thousand bucks from me that he hasn't paid back." Alyssa always looked down on her cousin-in-law, seeing him as a complete loser. "Haha, he's the cousin-in-law you mentioned. Damn, he's such a loser," the boy laughed, his eyes mocking. Lukas felt a bit annoyed, thinking, 'How dare she insult me like this in front of others? I'm her cousin-in-law after all.' "I'll pay you back. I have something to do now, so goodbye," Lukas squeezed out a smile. Being Eira's cousin-in-law, he had to tolerate her harsh words. If she knew he was now the heir to the world's largest conglomerate, how would this cousin react? People were always so shallow and ignorant! "Pay me back? I don't even expect you to pay me back. Can your pizza delivery salary even cover Miley's medical bills?" Alyssa sneered sarcastically. 'Lukas is just a waste! And that little bastard shouldn't have been born!' Alyssa sneered, her disdain extending naturally to Lukas's daughter as well. Lukas heard this and his expression gradually turned cold. "Alyssa, I'm still your cousin-in-law. Is this how you should speak to me?" "Haha," Alyssa sneered, "I don't acknowledge you as my cousin-in-law. You're just a good-for-nothing live-in son-in-law in the Hayes family." After saying that, Alyssa grabbed her boyfriend and disdainfully added, "Forget it, let's go, Max. Being around him feels like breathing in greasy air." Lukas's gaze turned icy, his fists clenched as he watched Alyssa sway her hips while leaving with her boyfriend. The two continued gossiping. "You said all that to him, and this cousin-in-law of yours didn't dare refute a single word. What a coward!" "He's not my cousin-in-law. Say that again, and I'll be mad at you." *** Lukas took a deep breath, calming himself down. 'I can't stoop to arguing with kids.' He turned around and immediately headed for the elevator. On the sixth floor, Lukas took a big detour and finally saw Eira's figure outside a restaurant's glass wall. Damn! What was even more annoying was Lukas immediately saw a greasy, bald, fat man sitting next to Eira, his face looking lecherous as he reached out to touch Eira's hand. Was Eira cheating?
