When the morning arrived, just like what Linfred said, Fodel brought his twin kids in the palace. He brought the two of them to Linfred’s office in which it was pretty obvious that they were a bit frightened on the Emperor’s stern gazes.
“G-greetings to the Emperor,” The twins bowed in unison.
“Please call Tyesha here, Taran.” Linfred ordered.
“As you wish, Your Majesty.” Taran lowered his head a bit and headed out of the office. He was Linfred, the Emperor’s personal guard that’s why he’s always with the emperor almost all the time. Fodel can be always around the emperor’s office because he’s the chancellor.
Taran knocked on the door of the Princess’ room.
“Princess, it’s Taran.” he said.
“You may come inside.” Tyesha replied.
He slowly swung the door open and entered the room politely. He saw Lucy, the princess’ personal hand maid fixing Tyesha’s hair.
“The Emperor wishes for you to be in his office.” Taran slightly lowered his head.
“Oh, yes…” Tyesha nodded and smiled.
After Lucy finished fixing her hair, she stood up and tried walking straight to Taran. She couldn’t still see anything rather than pitch black, but she can do that by remembering where Taran’s voice originated. She just followed it.
She was secretly learning the structure of her room with Lucy’s help. That’s how she gradually memorized where her things, bed, dresser or even the bathroom were located. She knows where to pass safely since she knows there’s nothing that obstructs her way.
“P-princess? By any chance, can you now see?” Taran was surprised by how Tyesha walked straight to him without any problems.
“No… I still couldn’t see anything. I just secretly memorized the structure of my room with Lucy’s help. That’s how I was able to walk towards you without stumbling or falling.” Tyesha smiled.
“I-I see…” Taran was surprised by the Princess’ resilience and smartness. “Should I carry you, to the Emperor’s office Princess?”
“No, I can walk. You can just guide me, Taran.” Tyesha replied.
“As you wish, Princess.” Taran responded.
Tyesha reached her hand forward, in which Taran received. He gently placed her tiny hands to his arms so the Princess can lean on him if she would ever trip over something. This was what Taran always do, whenever Linfred orders him to get Tyesha from her room.
Taran knocked on the door first before they entered the Emperor’s office.
“Greetings, Your Majesty.” Tyesha slightly lowered her head and held her skirt.
“I have someone to introduce to you.” Linfred said.
“Hm?” Tyesha tilted her head a bit.
“But before that, I have something for you.” Linfred brought up a mask he especially saved for his daughter.
Taran guided the Princess towards the Emperor. When Tyesha was near Linfred, he carefully placed the mask on his daughter’s face. The mask only covered her eyes, and it doesn’t have holes for the eyes since she doesn’t need it.
“I noticed that you’re always closing your eyes on purpose. I was thinking if you’re bothered to open your eyes because nothing’s covering it when you can’t see.” Linfred said.
Tyesha was surprised upon hearing what his father said. She wasn’t expecting that her father was closely watching her and thinking about her worries.
“I just didn’t want anyone to see this horrible state of my eyes right now.” Tyesha replied.
“Who dared to say your eyes are horrible right now? Tell me, so I’ll pluck their eyes out.” Linfred shot up from his seat.
Tyesha giggled. “You already punished them, Your Majesty...”
“Is that so?” He went back and sat on his chair and sighed.
“Princess, meet my twins. Zaphiel and Zamiel. They’re two years younger than you.” Fodel introduced his sons to her.
“They’ll be your friends from now on.” Linfred stated.
“Is she blind?” Zamiel suddenly blurted.
“Zamiel!” Fodel warned his son for discourtesy.
“She is, I suppose.” Zaphiel replied.
Zamiel walked closer to Tyesha and waved his hands in front of Tyesha’s face. He also stared closely on her mask.
“She’s really blind!” Zamiel exclaimed.
“Really?” Zaphiel ran near the two of them. “Yes, she is.” Zamiel replied.
“I am sorry if I am blind.” Tyesha said.
“Huh! So, my daughter, the princess of this country needs to apologize to you just because she can’t see?” Linfred shot the two boys with cold and threatening stare.
“No, Your Majesty!” The two of them flinched and responded in unison.
“Good! Now before you go and play, I will be assigning a personal guard for you.” Linfred stated.
“Personal guard?” Tyesha asked.
“Yes… you may enter Grimmer.” Linfred said.
The door swung open and Grimmer entered. He walked to the center of the room.
“Greetings, Your Majesty.” He lowered his head slightly.
“From now on, you will be the personal knight guard of Princess Tyesha.” Linfred ordered.
“As you wish, Your Majesty.” Grimmer replied.
“You already know this but I am saying it, her life is very precious, defend her with all of your might from anything that wants harm to her.” Linfred stared straight to the man standing in front of him.
“I know very well my duty and I shall fulfill it to the very end.” Grimmer replied.
“Oh? Hello Sir Grimmer. We meet again.” Tyesha smiled.
“Yes, Princess. I will be your personal knight from now on. It’s my honor to serve you.” Grimmer dropped on one of his knees.
“Now you can go and play with them, I do hope you enjoy yourself.” Linfred gave a pat to his daughter. Tyesha only replied with a smile to the emperor.
Tyesha went out from the emperor’s office with Grimmer and the twins. They immediately headed towards the vast lawn and garden of the palace.
“So, what are we going to play this time?” Zamiel asked, scratching the back of his head.
Zaphiel crossed his arms and brought his hand to his chin. “Now, what could we play. We can’t play the usual game of tag since Tyesha can’t play that.”
“You can just play… I’ll just sit here and watch you two.” Tyesha replied.
The two of them brought their gazes to the princess.
“Hmm… I guess that’s impossible.” Zamiel said.
“Why would that be?”
“You can’t see, so how will you be able to watch us?” Zamiel replied.
“Lord Zamiel!” Grimmer warned Zamiel for his discourtesy.
