Chapter 6 Breakfast

At the mansion Yani woke up early and thought of going to the kitchen. She wanted to help Mrs. Lilia and Lisa to prepare for breakfast. Yani also wants get used to do housework so that she have something to do every day.

She also need to learn how to take care and prepare her husband’s breakfast. Even though she didn’t sleep well because of what she heard last night. She forgot about it. She knew that no one would listen to her.

"Good morning Mrs. Lilia and Lisa," Yani greeted them.

Mrs. Lilia and Lisa turned to her. They are busy preparing for breakfast. Now they need to cook more xtra food for the visitors.

"You are good than this morning Ma'am," Lisa greeted back with the smile on her face.

"Good morning to you Ma'am Yani," Mrs. Lilia replied.

They smiled at Yani. Mrs. Lilia put down the knife that she was holding. She currently cutting garlic and onion for making fried rice.

Even though Yani had only just met the two, but she felt relieved talking to them. They are kind and approachable. Then Yani remembered her mother in the status of Mrs. Lilia.

"Why did you wake up so early Ma'am?" Lisa asked.

Mrs. Lilia nodded as agreed in Lisa's question. Condrad and Lalaine usually wake up at eight o'clock in the morning.

"When I was in our province, I used to waking up early," Yani replied.

"Do you need anything and will we prepare for you?" Mrs. Lilia asked.

Servants thought that Yani went to the kitchen to say that she need something.

"Nothing. I just want to help you. Can I help you to prepare food for breakfast?"

"Oh, don't be Ma'am, we can do it," Mrs. Lilia shuddered.

"Im alright Mrs. Lilia. I just want to learn so that I can prepare food for Alejandro every morning. I want to serve him as his wife!" Yani pleaded.

Yani folded her hands as she pleaded in front of Mrs. Lilia. Instead of refusing her, Mrs. Lilia smiled at Yani. She seemed to enjoy what she heard from Yani. It is rare for wife to prepare a breakfast for dear lovely husband especially if there are helpers working to them.

"You are a good wife. Alejandro is very lucky to have you. Someone like you is a role model for other women. Caring for and valuing your husband is a true love of duty as a married person," said Mrs. Lilia.

"Thank you!" Yani smiling as she replied.

“I have no denial of your wish but our concern is that sir Alejandro might rebuke us,” said Mrs. Lilia.

"Don't worry. I'll be the one to explain Alejandro. I know he will understand what I did for him," Yani promised.

"Okay go ahead, we know that Alejandro is kind so come and you can help us. But be careful and you might get burn," Mrs. Lilia reminded.

Yani was happy that Mrs. Lilia agreed to what she wanted. Lisa was the only one who continued what Mrs. Lilia was doing. While Yani is taught by Mrs. Lilia how to fry eggs, hotdogs and ham. She was also taught how to make delicious fried rice.

Yani grew up with her parent not teaching her how to cook. Her mother did not want her to work at home. They just want to educate her and focus her study. So she knows nothing about cooking.

When they finished cooking they set the table. Even that thing Yani didn’t miss to learn everything. She is willing to serve her husband even if it is just an agreement.

Alejandro helped her family a lot, especially her.

In their arrangement Yani enjoyed. She talked to Lisa often and they slowly recognized each other. At first Lisa shame on Yani but slowly disappear because of Yani's kindness. On the other hand, Lalaine's behavior towards them is opposite than Yani.

"Wow, delicious food we smell!" Rhea and Mandy said at the same time.

Yani immediately turned to her friends who approaching at the dinning table. Both of them fresh and they took an early bath because they were already excited to tour the entire hacienda.

"Good morning friends. Did you sleep well?" Yani asked the two friends.

"Yeah! How about you? Why your eye bags become black?" Rhea asked.

She even examined Yani's face as if she hadn't slept all night. They know each other so Yani can't hide this matter from them either.

"Just missed my home. This was my first night at the mansion so I had a hard time adjusting," she lied to her friends.

She could not tell to her friends what she had heard last night. Because Mrs. Lilia and Lisa are in front of them. She also didn’t intentionally to keep this matter a secret to her friends but she wanted to confirm first. As a lawyer she need to find out before telling others.

"Ah is that so! Did you help prepare for breakfast?" Mandy asked.

One by one they looked at the dishes on the table that Yani had cooked. The two can't believe that Yani is so determined to learn. All they knew was that her parents did not allow her to work.

“Yes I need to learn all to serve my husband,” Yani replied.

She washed her hands after putting everything on the table. She wanted to go back to her room to fix herself.

"Why didn't you wake us up?" Rhea asked.

"I know both of you are tired. Maybe next time."

Yani wiped her wet hand. Then she faced her friends again. Just like she also wants to explore with them the things they don’t often do.

"Wait, I'll leave you here first. I'll go into my room to fix myself."

"Okay, we'll be in the garden first," Mandy replied.

When Yani returned to their room, she found Alejandro awake. He frowned and looked at her full of questions.

"Where have you been? Why are you so sweaty?"

"Good morning!"

Instead of answering her husband she showed a beautiful smile in the morning. Alejandro must have been shocked at what she did.

"I helped Mrs. Lilia and Lisa to cook for breakfast," she replied as he walked to the bathroom.

"You don't have to do that. There are servants who will do that thing."

Yani stopped and turned to her husband. She expected this to be what Alejandro would say. But she was brave enough to serve him despite their agreement.

"Let me do the a simple thing. It is my obligation as your wife to serve you."

She finally went to the bathroom to take a bath. She could not wait for Alejandro to speak again. Alejandro shrugged and stood looking at Yani. But he smile flashed on his lips with excitement. He knew Yani was trying to embrace the life he had given.

At the dinning table Lalaine came. Condrad was left in their room. Lalaine was surprised when she saw the food on the table. She began to fire with anger that was evident in her eyes.

"Mrs. Lilia!" Lalaine shouted loudly sa she called Mrs. Lilia.

The poor old lady was breathlessly as she approached in front of Lalaine. She run fast so that Lalaine will not be angry more.

"M-Ma'am Lalaine, do you need anything?" she asked stuttered.

Everyone knows how Lalaine will angry at them. So their move must be in accordance with Lalaine's wishes so that they will not be reprimanded.

"Why you cook a lot of food today? Why did you cook food that was forbidden for my husband? Take those away!"

Mrs. Lilia did not forget the things that were forbidden to Condrad. The siblings were in different like when it comes to food. Mrs. Lilia broke Lalaine's law. Condrad doesn’t eat ham and hotdogs. Those red color of the food he did not want to see it.

Meanwhile, Alejandro is used to this food. Half of his life was living there in America. The only thing Lalaine doesn't remember is the brother in law who likes the food.

"Ma'am Lalaine, I'm sorry. But I can't remove those!" Mrs. Lilia shuddered.

"Why? Who ordered you to cook those? Why do we have those stock? I know I never bought it since then.

Lalaine had so many questions that Mrs. Lilia did not know which one to prioritize to answer. Mrs. Lilia feel the cold running all over to her whole body due to fear.

"Me!"

They both turned to the source of the voice. Mrs. Lilia sighed. She didn't know if she had breathed a sigh of relief when Alejandro arrived.

"I was the one who bought the food that was new to the dinning table. You shouldn’t be offended by that thing. You can ask them calmly, " Alejandro said.

Lalaine was speechless when she saw Alejandro and Yani approaching them. It was as if she wanted to ask herself to swallow her on where she stand. The shame feeling engulfed her system.

She may have forgotten that they had new companions in the mansion. And what she couldn’t help but notice was Alejandro’s rude behavior.

"B-Brother! Sorry I just forgot. I strictly forbade it because your brother doesn't want to see it."

Alejandro sat down in the chair prepared for him. Yani calmly followed to her husband.

"It's time for him to face the fear. It's been a long time to be buried all in oblivion," Alejandro said.

"I'm sorry!"

She sat down as well after she apologizes. She could do nothing but accompany her new companions for breakfast.

"Mrs. Lilia please call Rhea and Mandy!" Alejandro commanded Mrs. Lilia.

The old lady immediately obeyed to follow the order to her. On the other hand it is glad she was saved from Lalaine’s denunciation of her.

Yani couldn't escape being stared by Lalaine when their eyes met. She knew Lalaine didn’t like her but she would do the right thing for the sake silence for both of them.

"You made this breakfast for me sweetie?"

"Yes, I hope you like it!" Yani replied smiling.

Lalaine just raised an eyebrow as she listened to the two. For her, the return of Alejandro and the accommodation of guests in the mansion was an obstacle to her plan. Even her privacy was gone.
